this game is an amazing addition to your collection if you like long or short strategy games this game would be right up your alley.
Long time Civ. fan here. For some reason i like this better. Maybe because of a slightly different approach. Cannot put my finger on it. Either way i enjoy it during the rare times I get to play it after work.
Unbelievable that this is at a 'mixed' rating. It brings so many fresh ideas to the genre and I preferred it heavily over Civ 6. Firstly the tactical battles that can play over multiple turns that spread over the actual tiles are brilliant. It brings a new stratetgic flair that was desperately needed. Using high ground, attacking from behind walls, rivers, and HOW you play the battles changing with new advances like gunpowder are just brilliant. The city building is top notch, finely you see this beautiful sprawl of your cities through districts that can eventually end up becoming mega cities. Now the not so good, yes it is quite jarring changing civilization every era, it strips away a bit of the identity of you each era (however you preserve the city artwork from previous eras). I would have loved to see certain milestones or tasks that guided you to specific few civilizations to pick from based on your actions and current culture, rather than swinging from, for example, the Maori to Germans. This game just needed just a *little* more time in development to iron out some balancing issues, figuring out the late game pacing, and it would have seriously been a 'Civ destroyer.' Desperately hope they make a 2.
I have no idea how many hours I spent playing this game when it first came out on gamepass, and I haven't played it since it wasn't available there anymore. Now I just saw a great offer, bought it and already played a 4h session without feeling the time passing. After spending some time trying to play CIV VII, playing this game again feels sooo much better. It's not perfect, it lacks some extra depth in some features, such as diplomacy and trading, but still, the exploration at early stages, town development and how you expand your empire are still unbeatable. The construction pace is slower, so you need to make some strategic decisions before selecting what districts or buildings comes first. The combat has 3 different ways to be played. You can 'micromanage' your troops in some sort of strategic board, position your troops, move them and select who will attack/defend, or you can just automate and let the AI decides for you. If you don`t want to "waste time", the instant outcome of the battle is always an option. Overall the game still feels great after all this time, so I definitely recommend getting it in an offer.

At first I was a bit overwhelmed doing the tutorial but like other strategy games, I figured it out! I don't thik you can ever stop learning, playing a game like this! Thanks!!!
Gra super bo była na wyspie Epsteina
Really fun. I've never been into strategy games, but this one grabbed me. The mechanics aren't a mess—it teaches you what you need to know as you play.
