The title gives away the game, It's the VR version of House Builder, building houses in all kinds of styles based on styles related to geographic locations with appropriate building techniques but all through the unique joy of VR and i got to admit that building the houses in VR works much faster then non VR. Check out some gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYarEfypL70 From more primitive homes such as a cozy hut based on wood or clay in the middle of wild greenery or more used houses with bricks and water pipes to more complicated architectural building arts such as secluded Japanese cottages. There is clearly variation in the building offer and each new style will therefore require new steps, For example, you will first have to make and build everything by hand, every detail of the foundations that support a house and as you build more complicated houses you will also be able to use more appropriate tools, first you scrape ice blocks from ice and before you do it know you're hitting the cement mixer with your family-friendly buldozer. House builder points to each building plan step by step this also benefits the progress you make in the game, the chance that you will get stuck somewhere in the game is very small and it has been made possible for everyone to unlock and build all houses. There is also a level of patience required, imagine that a house needs 300 small stones, then you will have to make AND place all 300 one at a time, do you need 120 clay roof tiles? mold them into shape first and then bake them in an oven to keep them insulated from rain. BUT, important to know is that by creating the supplies piece by piece you unlock skills that ensure that you make twice as many numbers at a time, or five times as much, or thirty times as much, and once you are there everything goes much faster and your patience will be rewarded.
House Builder VR
Not fit for purpose!
Despite having a good impression from the House Builder: First Job demo, this VR port very is low quality. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1601840/House_Builder_First_Job/ It's so bad, House Builder VR is the first game I have ever refunded on Steam. I recommend, nay DEMAND, that nobody purchase this game in its current state. It has game-breaking bugs that block progression. House Builder VR is an incomplete and half-baked VR port that is clearly unfinished, yet was prematurely released from Early Access.
Valve Index

DO NOT BUY IF USING ANYTHING BUT MAYBE THE QUEST? After the terrible release that forgot the VR part of the VR Game. This game continues to be an absolute train wreak. I could not recommend this game in this sorry state. Im gonna take it as the only control scheme they have is for the Quest/Rift controllers. If you dont not have rift/quest controllers good luck. Movement in a 2023 VR game is locked to Teleport only. Except it wasnt? cause after having to struggle through the igloo level with only teleport/snap turning. The game bugged out and gave me free movement/turning. (Which immediately went away with the start of the next level where I couldn't even snap turn anymore. Just teleport forward) I know you put early access. But this is a joke. You should not be selling the game yet. This "game" hardly works to the point you can call it a game. Because it is so challenging to play with the control schemes and such. This game severly disappointed me cause it seems VERY promising. But my god. This was awful. The 1st part of putting a game out in early access is at least make sure the basic controls work first.
Thanks for throwing walls of texts with very few demonstrations. Does the word "easy" mean something else in Poland? Also, this game is very BORING. The first minutes are the most important part of any game, and yet they managed to botch it beyond repair. Building an igloo block by block is not fun, and at some point the game is like "Oh yeah, maybe that doesn't sound like fun, so now you can craft more blocks at once". I recorded my gameplay and realized that I was going back and forth for FORTY MINUTES. Worst part of all, the dog guarding the campfire can't be pet.
My God... At first, I thought the game was okay and sometimes even fun. I've played the ice location and then the tropic one. Nothing special, but you're just moving things to the right place. Actually, I expected better gameplay. It's a construction site, so much is possible to do in VR, but not in this game... Okay, then I started playing the Japan location... and I can't make a floor; the plates don't want to set in the highlighted spot. I restarted, played again, and every time I'm stuck with different bugs... FIX IT PLEASE! Yeah, the gameplay isn't so good, but please fix the bugs at least...
House Builder VR, created by PixelTrapps and published by FreeMind S.A., attempts to carve out a niche within the VR simulation genre by offering players the opportunity to construct a variety of culturally inspired houses from around the world. The game’s premise is certainly engaging—players can build everything from traditional African huts to igloos and Japanese-style homes, providing a sense of historical and geographical exploration through the hands-on process of construction. This blend of cultural education and creative building holds great promise, especially in virtual reality, where immersion and interaction are key elements. However, despite the appealing concept, the execution leaves much to be desired, and the overall experience is marred by several critical flaws. From a gameplay perspective, House Builder VR struggles to maintain player interest due to repetitive and shallow mechanics. While the idea of building distinct types of houses is interesting, the actual construction process is often described as monotonous and lacking in meaningful depth. Players find themselves repeating similar tasks with minimal variation, which diminishes the sense of progression and satisfaction that one might expect from a building simulator. Moreover, the progression system is confusing and poorly implemented, with unclear goals and a frustrating economic system that prevents smooth advancement through the game’s different stages. Some users have reported that even after gathering enough resources and completing objectives, they encounter roadblocks like insufficient funds, which halt their progress and create a disjointed gameplay experience. Technical issues further compound the game’s problems. Numerous players have encountered bugs and glitches that disrupt gameplay, ranging from UI problems to crashes and freezes. These stability issues severely impact immersion and frustrate users who hoped for a seamless VR experience. Given that VR titles rely heavily on smooth performance to prevent motion sickness and maintain engagement, these technical shortcomings are particularly detrimental. The presence of such persistent problems suggests that the game would benefit greatly from additional patches and optimization before it can meet player expectations. Visually, House Builder VR does not live up to the standards that modern VR experiences set. The graphics, while functional, feel outdated and fail to create a compelling or immersive environment. The textures and models lack detail, and the overall design feels bland, which detracts from the cultural richness the game aims to showcase. This underwhelming presentation is further compounded by mediocre sound design; the audio effects and voice acting often feel generic and uninspired, leaving the atmosphere feeling flat and unengaging. These sensory elements are crucial in VR, where the player’s immersion depends heavily on the environment’s ability to transport them to another place, but House Builder VR struggles to achieve this. Despite these criticisms, it’s clear that the developers had a strong creative vision behind House Builder VR. The concept of combining cultural education with interactive VR building gameplay is unique and offers a potentially enriching experience for players interested in architecture and history. If the game receives significant updates to fix bugs, deepen gameplay mechanics, clarify progression systems, and improve audiovisual presentation, it could evolve into a more polished and enjoyable title. For now, however, the game falls short of its aspirations, and players seeking a smooth and engaging VR building experience may find themselves disappointed. It stands as an example of a promising idea hindered by underwhelming execution and technical difficulties, highlighting the challenges of delivering complex simulation games in virtual reality.
