Hot Mars 69, developed by Nikita “Ghost_RUS” and published by Ghost_RUS Games, is a small-scale indie first-person shooter that leans heavily into pulp sci-fi and B-movie sensibilities. Set on a deserted Mars colony, the game frames its action around a simple premise: contact with the settlement has been lost, a rescue unit is dispatched, and almost immediately everything goes catastrophically wrong. You take control of the lone surviving operative, left to uncover what happened and fight through hordes of grotesque creatures that now infest the abandoned outpost. The setup is familiar and thinly sketched, serving mainly as an excuse to push the player from one combat encounter to the next rather than to tell a detailed or emotionally engaging story. Gameplay in Hot Mars 69 is built around an extremely straightforward shooting loop. Levels are largely linear, guiding the player through corridors, open yards, and sparse interiors where enemies are placed in predictable patterns. Combat focuses on constant forward movement and firing rather than tactical positioning or careful resource management. Weapons feel powerful, often dispatching enemies quickly, which reduces tension but keeps the pace brisk. There is little in the way of mechanical depth—no elaborate weapon progression, skill systems, or meaningful upgrades—so the experience relies almost entirely on the raw act of shooting enemies as they appear. Enemy behavior is one of the most noticeable weaknesses in the game. The mutant creatures that populate the Martian base often lack convincing artificial intelligence, sometimes failing to react aggressively or behaving erratically during encounters. Rather than creating a sense of danger or horror, this can make combat feel oddly passive, as if the player is clearing out static obstacles rather than facing hostile adversaries. This undermines the game’s intended horror tone, replacing suspense with a more mechanical and occasionally unintentionally comedic rhythm. Visually, Hot Mars 69 reflects its low-budget origins. Environments are functional but sparse, with limited environmental storytelling or visual variety. The Martian setting provides a harsh, red-tinted backdrop, but textures, lighting, and models are basic and repetitive. While the overall aesthetic aims for gritty sci-fi horror, the lack of polish prevents the world from feeling immersive. Instead, the visuals convey the impression of a prototype or early-stage project rather than a fully refined release. Sound design follows a similarly minimal approach. Weapon effects and enemy noises exist primarily to signal action rather than to build atmosphere. There is little in the way of ambient soundscapes or audio cues that might enhance tension or reinforce the isolation of the Martian setting. As a result, the game rarely achieves the unsettling mood that horror-inflected shooters often strive for, instead settling into a flat auditory presentation that mirrors its mechanical simplicity. One of the most frequently noted aspects of Hot Mars 69 is its brevity. The game can be completed very quickly, sometimes in a single short session. Progression is abrupt, and the ending arrives without much buildup or payoff. This short runtime, combined with the limited variety in enemies and environments, can leave players feeling that the experience ends just as it begins to establish itself. For some, this brevity makes the game feel more like a demo or experimental project than a complete product. Despite these shortcomings, Hot Mars 69 does possess a certain niche appeal. Its rough edges, exaggerated premise, and lack of restraint can give it an unintentional charm for players who enjoy obscure, low-budget indie titles. Approached with modest expectations, it can function as a quick, mindless diversion—a curiosity rather than a commitment. Some players may even appreciate its camp-like qualities, finding entertainment in its simplicity and awkward execution rather than in traditional measures of quality. Overall, Hot Mars 69 is a very limited and uneven shooter that prioritizes basic action over refinement, atmosphere, or depth. It does not offer the polish, challenge, or immersion typically associated with stronger entries in the genre, and its technical and design shortcomings are difficult to ignore. However, as a brief and unconventional indie experiment, it may still appeal to players interested in exploring the fringes of the Steam catalog. For most players seeking a satisfying sci-fi or horror shooter experience, it will likely feel underdeveloped, but for those curious about rough, experimental projects, it stands as an example of ambition constrained by scope and execution. Rating: 5/10

Best FPS EVER!!!!1!!
