Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.86/day in the week to Aug 26 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I played the original Homeworld when it was released in 1999. I remember the general excitement building up to its release in gaming 'zines of the time and that excitement was justified. I remember opening the box the game came in, and it wasn't just the game disk: there was a big artbook and manual in there as well: those were the days when you got real value for a game, it wasn't a "special edition" box or anything, just the base game at release. I remember excitedly putting the disk in the CD- ROM drive and impatiently doing the install. Then the moment I had been waiting for for months came: the opening credits and the start of my first playthrough. To say I was blown away by what I saw and heard was an understatement: Homeworld was simply ahead of it's time. The story, the music, the gameplay, all of it was simply an amazing experience. One of those first time plays that you never forget. So many titles in the RTS genre in the late 90s kept reusing similar story tropes and gameplay mechanics the genre was steadily becoming stale. Homeworld changed all of that and breathed new life and vibrancy into the RTS genre, which along with RPGs (ever since I played the original gold plated Legend Of Zelda on original NES in the late 80s), are my favorite game genres. Even today in 2025 these games hold up very well despite being 25 years old. I highly recommend the Homeworld Remastered Collection for anyone, whether you're a first timer or an old Homeworld vet that want to return to the game after many years.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 10: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

its a remastered version. It doesn't fit the screen. No video options in the video tab for resolution, borderless window, screen stretching. It's like they did a remaster to make it run on modern hard ware and did nothing at all.
new eula has turned this game into spyware
Homeworld is a beautiful and immersive game, and the only RTS that truly gives you the feeling of floating in space. There's something magical about it; the music and atmosphere play a big part in that. The gameplay is solid, the units are well-designed, and the missions are well thought out. So what's the problem? For me, the "adaptive difficulty" ruins the experience. In HW1, I unknowingly made it through until the final mission, which turned out to be downright impossible due to its extreme difficulty. Yes, the game adapts: the more units you carry over from one mission to the next (basically, the better you play), the harder the missions become. And if you exceed a certain maximum threshold without any warning, you're in for an impossible challenge. It's widely known that to get around this, good players deliberately destroy their own fleet before moving on to the next mission. That’s completely counterintuitive, and I refused to do it. As a result, I got stuck as early as mission 3 in HW2 and rage-quit with a sigh. I love Homeworld, but in 2025, this flaw is a dealbreaker. I turned to Beyond All Reason to enjoy a truly modern and balanced RTS, even if I’ll always miss the atmosphere of Homeworld.
After watching for 15 minutes as a single kadeshi mothership took a pounding from 21 frigates..... 6 multibeam, 4 ion 4 destroyers and god knows how many others and just instantly regenerating to 30k health every time it got to 10k health.,.... no...this game is broken, do not buy it. go on abandonware sites and get the ORIGINAL release because that actually works, this was just a cashgrab that they didnt even bother finishing, the player patch that was supposed to make it better actually makes the literally impossible game even harder, and there is just no reason to subject yourself to this kind of torture. It sucks too because the original version of this was one of the most amazing games of its time, but no, dont buy it remastered.... find the original. google search abandonware. If you don't believe me, which is understandable...I know I'm harsh on games because I know exactly what game designers are capable of since I'm trained for the job... its totally ok, just go look up all the people trying to skip missions in the remastered. there's a bug on nearly every mission that'll make you have to play it MULTIPLE times if you do such things as skipping cutscenes youve seen 5 times already, capture enemy vessels like you're SUPPOSED to in this game, or kill the enemy units too fast or in the wrong order (no it doesnt tell you the order, it just assumes you'll be very passive for mission 8 and if you aren't it softlocks the mission and instaheals the last enemy forever) Tried HW2, against my better judgement. Got to mission 7 and can't build movers, have tried basically everything possible to troubleshoot, the players patch doesnt help, and well... honestly I think this one I just need to consider a lost cause. Remastered apparently just means "we broke the game". Sweet christ it continues, well...I figured out SOMETHING at least. for some reason the game needs you to lose one of your fighter squadrons to allow you to build movers. Don't ask me WHY it does, i didn't code this spaghetti, but it does. ctrl shift e on one of them to scuttle it and it started building movers o.O

They managed to make a remaster that LOST basic functionalities the original had, but hey, whatever. It was good enough to play it again. Bu Gearbox's bonkers end user licence agreement applies to Homeworld. So I'm giving this game the "Gearbox Treatment" : I'm uninstalling, I'm not buying anything for it ever again, and I'm giving those bastards the middle finger. By their EULA, anywhere it's legal to do so, you are forbidden to intent any lawsuit. Thankfully there are still civilized places in the world where this is illegal. By their EULA, modding is a bannable offense. Or rather, if you mod, it has to be with their tools and as authorized by them. And those mods belong to them. By their EULA, if you're a content creator, they can use anything you make about this game for whatever purpose they wish and you can't say ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it. By their EULA, if you don't comply, they are allowed to reset your progress, your save, or lock you out of playing the game. This is akin to Ikea saying "we don't like the way you use our table" and then coming to your home and smashing it. And they specificaly state they can do it any time, at their own discretion. By their EULA, their "adverse action" may be automated. So you may be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by an AI who doesn't even properly read your own language or whatever. So long, Gearbox. You won't be missed.
A travesty. The original version of HW crashes and the remastered version is a sloppy remake. Physics based projectiles are gone, it's impossible to keep your strike craft docked at the beginning of missions and the scaling is ridiculous.
I never played the original Homeworld when it first released. I only discovered the franchise recently after the announcement of Homeworld 3. Because of that, I went into the Remastered Collection without nostalgia attached. Visually, the remaster is well done. The interface feels modernized, and the overall presentation was clearly adjusted for today’s standards. It does not feel like a lazy graphical update. However, mechanically, the game feels dated. Space battles should feel powerful and strategic. Homeworld delivers scale, but not impact. The mothership feels more like a giant production station than a meaningful combat unit. There is no real sense of power behind it. The pacing is one of the biggest problems. Ship production takes time. Movement is slow. Combat engagements are slow. There is no proper fast-forward option to speed up the experience. Many moments feel like waiting rather than actively commanding. Compared to something like Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, which allows better pre-battle positioning and formation control, Homeworld feels limited. When you move ships, they tend to cluster together instead of maintaining proper spacing. That reduces immersion and tactical clarity. I understand that Homeworld was revolutionary at launch, especially with its 3D space RTS design. But playing it today, without nostalgia, it feels average. Respectable as a classic, but not strong by modern standards. The campaign itself is not bad. The issue is not the story. The issue is pacing and mechanical depth. I cannot strongly recommend it unless you are specifically curious about RTS history or are attached to the franchise. Score: 5/10 (1) Trash (2) Horrible (3) Very Bad (4) Bad (5) Average (6) Fine (7) Good (8) Very Good (9) Great (10) Master Piece
