Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.57/day in the week to Aug 24 → 1/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I've seen all the bad reviews and thought , maybe its not so bad. Its worse. The battles are a colorful mess, no sense of positioning or strategy, just one blob after another. Most egregious was a defense mission. Instead of clever tactics, the enemy just B-lines to their target, while happily taking fire. In the meantime my units run all over the place, seemingly ignoring orders, happily running into enemy fire. Just play HW1,cataclysm, or HW2
It's just okay
Homeworld 3 was one of my most anticipated games. When it came out and the reception was average at best, I held off buying it for quite a while. Thanks to the summer sale I could buy it very cheap. So you can imagine that I had enough time to lower my expectations and even if the game sucked, I wouldn't be bothered by it too much. That being said, the game is average in the departments that made Homeworld unique. No longer you're part of a mythical race seeking it's way back home - you've become a Human Protagonist. No longer the writing is mysterious and philosophical - here's a generic sci-fi story you've read before a number of times. No longer you need to strategize your ship formation - mass Ion & Assault Frigates tear through everything on auto-aggressive mode. So why is this a positive rating? Well, it still reminded me of Homeworld. It reminded me why I love the series so much that I bought the remastered version again on Steam. The graphics are very impressive, being one of the best looking space RTS games ever. I sincerely liked the music as well, maybe it didn't hit on the same high notes as Homeworld 1 did, but I enjoyed it really much. Even if it was dumbed down, scaled back (level-wise), I still had fun with it, although as my first paragraph mentioned - the expectations were quite low. I'd say, it's worth a buy for $15 or lower. My hope is we'll see Homeworld 4 someday and the lessons learned with part 3 will show.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 29: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I was a fan of original Homeworld and played it as a kid. Recently finished Homeworld 1 and 2 Remastered and decided to look at the 3rd game. I of course saw the reviews, so I got it not on Steam but in some OTHER "store" with a HUGE discount. Played a few missions and... actually liked it. Still, the negative reviews plus Blackbird and Gearbox ghosting their own community, plus a $40 price tag (even $25 on sale is too much), all screamed "NO, DON'T BUY IT." Then I found a key for $2 on Еnеbа, so here we are. And I still like it! Mostly the universe, the setting, the concept. But I agree with every complaint people make, especially about the program running my PAWS: - Ships get stuck in walls. Not sometimes. Confidently. With purpose. - The pathfinder does not path and does not find. It vibes instead. - They will sit in aggressive stance next to an enemy and shoot absolutely nothing until every single one of them is aggressively dead. - Formations are so broken I now reflexively click "no formation" like a nervous tic, because otherwise my fleet will lose 90% of its ships maneuvering and shooting and dedicate them to make sure you can see them all in one beautiful straight line. They died as they lived: aligned. There are no mods that fix this. As I understand per reddit discussions people tried. It's in the engine, below where modders can reach (still I think there are few projects in alpha that sounds promising). And there will be no patches, because Update 1.3 in November 2024 was declared the final major update. So Blackbird and Gearbox abandoned the game, and until somebody else buys the rights in 10-ish years and releases Homeworld 3 Remastered, this is what it is forever. BUT. If you love the setting, have a GPU good enough for the visuals, don't mind a bit of extra MICRO control to physically prevent your ships from doing nothing at all, and you can get a key dirty cheap for like $2 from a third-party reseller - I think it's worth a try. I DON'T REGRET IT. At $40 I would have set something or someone on fire. Technical implementation: 3/10 Visuals: 8/10 Story: 6/10, could be less toothless Post-launch support: hyperspace jumped out of the system
EDIT: I finished it, ~10 hours of gameplay that could've been much shorter likely with riskier tactics. If you're a Homeworld fan, be aware this is little more than gruel wearing the skin of a Homeworld game; if you're not a Homeworld fan, there's far better sci-fi/space RTSes out there to play, like the Homeworld remasters, or Sins, or anything except this bitter failure of a game. I'm a few hours in and at this point playing further already probably counts as self-harm according to multiple diagnostic criteria, but I feel compelled to see just how bad this gets. Let's start with the parts that aren't criminal: Visually, they've stayed largely true to the Homeworld form and the ships, most of the aesthetic is as I'd expect and hope from a returning Homeworlder, however the cutscenes are, whilst at times detailed - lacking every iota of charm and nuance of the original, and failing even to deliver their assumed aims at realism with sometimes laggy facial animations and asset clipping, not what you'd expect from pre-rendered cinematics in this day and age... Gameplay is somewhat similar to Homeworld, dedicated unit types, ship captures, persistent fleets, 3D battlescape, formations; however the AI feels a little goofy at times, especially when interacting with the new gimmick of terrain - speaking of which they should use more asteroids and less Progenitor structures, it cheapens the lore for their overuse of it. Audio is mostly as you'd expect for Homeworld but, lesser, some AI chatter feels a little too chatty at times and doesn't quite live up to the character of previous games. Now for the real villain of this game, the story: Coming from the rather minimalistic but beautiful and inspiring storytelling of the original games, and the frankly inferior yet still somewhat faithful despite its numerous failings successor Deserts of Kharak, we arrive at this monstrosity that immediately sets about to butcher whatever made the series so enrapturing and engaging. Gone are the unique characterful dynamics of the old fleets, replaced instead by a paltry attempt at what I can only assume is a "relatable" new lead and a truly baffling attempt at a new villain, written by what I believe to be someone's first venture at storytelling. Don't get me wrong, they certainly make some attempts at aping the support characters' charms, but much of it is wasted with poor dialogue that falls short of the bar set in the originals and none of it can redeem the absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is the game's primary plot. I came into this expecting to be disappointed, but I thought at worst it'd be another Deserts of Kharak but slightly worse, instead I was disappointed yet further with something that spits on not only the Homeworld name but also fails to be any remotely interesting story in its own right, my eyes were honestly doing barrel rolls with how lame and goofy this has gotten, and I'm probably only halfway through.
Gameplay is decent, runs great, looks and feels like next-gen Homeworld. Campaign is mediocre and consists of maxing out your fleet and steam rolling, there was never a reason to split up your forces, just moving in a blob and slowly clearing each map. War Games (rogue-like mode) is incredibly uninteresting and underwhelming. Also I could do without every unit needing some useless ability tacked on. However, the only reason I'm not recommending is because of the cutscenes, turning a beloved franchise into a goofy melodramatic anime comic book maguffin filled interpersonal drama of women bickering and ham-fisted "emotional" scenes (like the lullaby). While Homeworld was by no means hard sci-fi and mystical elements were introduced in the second game (and possibly even the first, can't remember), this takes it to a whole new obnoxious level. And how god awful the characters look is icing on the ♥♥♥♥ cake. If they remove all the cutscenes from the game, I'll change my review to positive. Oh yeah, and they have ships floating in the atmosphere in the first mission. Is that really necessary? Sure the game is "Navy in space", but this is ridiculous! Edit: I just remembered "Sands and Sinners!"... ♥♥♥♥...
I really wanted to love this, being a fan of the series, but this is easily one of the most disappointing games I've played in years. I forced myself to stick with it for 6 hours, hoping it would get better or click, but honestly? 6 hours was 6 hours too long. Developer Blackbird Interactive and publisher Gearbox Software condensed their post-launch roadmap, releasing all remaining free updates and paid DLC in a single major drop on November 21, 2024. No further major expansions or official content roadmaps are planned for Homeworld 3, effectively wrapping up active development on the title. The gameplay feels incredibly shallow. All that talk about tactical cover and deep strategy just isn't there. It basically boils down to spamming whatever unit is cheapest and strongest as fast as possible. There's no real finesse or interesting decisions to make, just a boring race to max population. The AI is a joke too. Units get stuck, ignore orders, or just do their own thing, and the enemy cheats with resource rates that feel totally unbalanced. The story is boring, the characters are forgettable, and the whole thing just feels rushed and unfinished. Save your money. Don't waste your time or hard-earned cash on this. There are far better RTS games out there, and even the older Homeworld titles destroy this in every way. Complete letdown.
I really, REALLY want to like this game as a series fan since the original game, but it feels so far from what Homeworld was that I honestly dont think the devs understood what game it was they were trying to make. on top of that I have had so many end of mission crashes that I'm honestly so tired of running the same mission over and over just to end with a bug report submission form, for context, my PC is more than capable of playing it, for some reason it just runs like ♥♥♥♥ even on its best settings.
An absolute shell of a its former self. I regret backing this on Fig, back in like 2018-2019. You can follow the development timeline and see when the shift occurred where the game fell off a cliff, in terms of quality, direction, plot and script. You can also correlate that fall off with the decision to hire certain cancerous groups to get involved with the development of this game. Suffice it to say...Homeworld DEId. The plot is so childish, I couldn't even stomach it longer than I have. I tried to even just skip every bit of dialogue and just get to the gameplay and at every instance of gameplay, it turned into just a giant blob of terrible AI combat and a real lack of actual orders being followed that I issue to my units. Do not even buy this game on a 90% discount. It's not Homeworld, it's a game for the 'modern audience'
I really enjoyed this game. I don't understand what all the negativity is about. I've played all the Homeworld games multiple times and, sure, maybe this isn't the best in the franchise, but it's worth a play. Wait for a Steam sale and pick it up.
