A game that’s unoptimized, boring and riddled with bugs. It would be better to shut it down for a while, work on it and come back with version 2 that would be the true form this game is trying to achieve. It wouldn’t be the first to do it. I can run all modern games but this game is struggling to render a couple of empty rooms. Except for a box or an enemy, there’s literally nothing of interest in there. It’s just an empty bland square with trash on the ground. All resources are apparently wasted on your flashlight. You start with a tutorial that crashed my game. I entered a room and the game skipped straight to the end mission screen. Ok, that’s not too bad. But when I choose a mission, the game ended immediately with a failure. I had to start a new game and skip the tutorial altogether. The gameplay might be better later on, but the start is boring and not very encouraging. You play as a scavenger that has to explore randomly generated complex of rooms and search for usable stuff. Since you have a limited supply of energy, you need to be quick and still make it out alive. You do this by scanning the room before opening the door. If there’s a life form on the other side, you might not survive. From my experience, the combat is turn based. However, I have no control over it. I died every time I entered the room and haven’t made a single decision. When a failure message appeared five times in a row, I gave up. There's something wrong if I can barely run the game and experience very little gameplay that ends in death the first room I enter. This is basically a game about opening doors. What makes this particularly painful is that there’s the same useless animation every time you open or scan a door. The characters pose during this time is cringeworthy; she tilts her behind to the side like a model standing in front of a mirror. When you look at all of the above, the game is overpriced. You would understand some issues if this was an early access game, but definitely not for a finished product. Good news is there are updates coming. There’s also a wiki page with lore that reveals some big plans for future games. It would be a shame to see it destroyed with the first game.

There are some good things about this game. The voicing for Abby, the general atmosphere, and some of the audio. But the gameplay is not ready yet. The turnbased combat is confusing as the camera is so close to the characters and popping around each shot, that you get no sense of what is going on. Elements of the graphic presentation are odd. The camera doesn't follow the character well, leading to jittering of the character. Every time you open a door, the character (seen from behind makes a sort of "well, ok" pose, and it gets weird seeing it *every time you open a door*. Things aren't focused well, and I find myself getting eyestrain. Between scenes when it needs to load (which isn't that often), we get the title page saying ABEYANCE across it, as if we need to be constantly reminded of the title. As a fellow game developer, I find it hard to give this kind of review, as I really do wish them the best of luck with their game. But some things are really going to have to be worked on before it's ready.
I want to start by saying I don't feel like the screenshots of this game fully portray the game at it's fullest. That being said it was fine... Pros: - Tutorial is easy enough - The premise was neat - It's got some cool concepts in regards to scanning and raiding rooms Cons: - The combat isn't amazing - The graphics were kinda meh - The beginning felt pretty stale. This game had good mechanics as a base but kinda seemed lack luster in other aspects. I give it 6/10 Trapped rooms.
Very cool game, it took me some time to understand the tactics but after i did the tutorial 2 times it was easy to progress
Great new Indie Game, can be a bit hard at times but really hope they continue to expand on the Procedurally Generated environments and world building as it is interesting.
