Mi amigo, con el que juego Homestead Arcana dijo que si publico una reseña sobre el juego y obtiene 200 'Me Gusta' y 30 Premios, me comprará una caja de cerveza y un whisky. Así que dejaré esto aquí
it's obvious they blew their entire budget on this game hiring Yuri Lowenthal to voice for one of the characters. the game feels unpolished, and it lacks helpful indicators to progress.
Play Palia or Enshrouded if you want a game that feels like this. I can't stand the clunky camera. There's little to no settings.
I want to love this game and recommend it, and I do like it but can't recommend it especially not for the normally $20 price tag. As after the first couple areas if feels real empty and it really shows that after the bare bones of the game were finished, as it is a completed game, the developer lost interest and abandoned many ideas they started to implement and discarded polishing what was there entirely. Pros: Unique and innovative farming. You can actually use your magic powers to grow the plants instead of the normal plant, water, wait, harvest cycle of most farming games, additionally there is the pruning mechanic which lets you alter how many and where the plant grows, but this seems to be incompletely added as there is no tangible reason to do anything other than maximize output. Amazing Idea of reclaiming the land from a mystical force that alters the land every time you enter it with new items while uncovering the history of the area. Cons: The game is empty in pretty much every sense, be it the map, interactions, quests, crafting, story you name it. The map. After the first inhospitable area it begins getting too large with too little to do in it, the game tries to make up for this with the rouge-lite mechanics of the inhospitable areas but fails as that is too infrequent and unrewarding while also being permanently gone once you make it hospitable again leaving a pretty large and mostly empty area with a few plants to collect from and an event. Interactions: there are 3 NPCs you can talk to the familiar cat Huckleberry, the Merchant, and the lady in the fog, each have a very limited selection of dialogue that you can run out in 2~3 conversations Quests: There is a mailbox in you camp that gives some world building by establishing your home exist and is mostly stable and an idea of talking to more NPCs but not really as you have no say it what is done with them and except for a few request they only give cosmetics and all are just fetch quests that you usually don't even have to leave your farm for. Crafting: The crafting is poorly done you have to rely on just your inventory to craft an item, most recipes rely on a few specific ingredients that are processed and they are used extensively so your farm is shoe horned into having more of those plants so you don't run out, crafting stations rely on real world time to finish, and recipes that are not absolutely required for the story and even a few that are, are locked behind crafting higher tier/new tools. Story: It starts strong with your reasons to go into the miasma, but it goes down hill fast. It begins failing by not having good explanations for why you needs items as it is usually defaults to "because Huckleberry thinks so" another large contributor to this is the lack of people and things to talk to or with especially since your character doesn't talk to themselves, then there is the ending which is really abrupt and has a dis-satisfactory conclusion.
Farmstead Arcana ✨ Fun exploration survival where you craft and harvest in a vibrant fantasy world. Slowly gain ground as you cleanse the dangerous miasma from the 3 biomes: Canyon, Forest, and Swamp, uncovering critical items needed to eventually reach
The Underground City
. The visuals behind the miasma are a cool inverted reality. Progression often requires finding specific plants used as key ingredients for biome based fertilizers. There's no traditional combat. You manage your time in the miasma, and mostly avoid enemies, by using spells that are defensive and allow you to sneak. What makes this special is that once an area is healed, those same creepy monsters can be cured instead of fought. Healing them instead of killing them was one of my favorite moments in the game. 💚 (≧◡≦) Maybe because it had such mixed reviews, I'm just so surprised by how much I loved this game!! The grind at the beginning was tough but actually made the payoff even sweeter for me! (Once you unlock the Broom getting around is more fun!) HOW TO USE SPELLS? 1. Drink potion 2. Activate spell 3. Open menu to drink Tea often (You'll brew tea constantly!) 🌿 FARMING? 1. Plant from your inventory 🌱 2. Water 💧 3. Channel 2-3 times. Stop before it turns pink to avoid Blight (。•́︿•̀。) 4. You can Channel daily as needed for quicker harvests. Most of your plants will live in storage because space is limited. .......WHAT TO EAT?? >Early on it's apples. Once you find tomatoes, Roasted Tomatoes carry you for a while. More options appear naturally later. ......HOW TO MAKE MONEY? >Use corn to make the Ripple Spell Potion which sells $100/stack! OTHER TIPS: > I recommend planting one of each crop. but don't be afraid to dig them up as needed. Sometimes replanting will give you a better plant with 4 yields! > Key items like Sulfur and Batwings are limited and you find them through natural progression, so don't panic if you're not finding them. > Abraham's store visits in the morning and this is where you buy blueprints, upgrades, and recipes. Wait to buy decorative and house options until you unlock more important things? He also sells key items like milk (to make cheese). ( ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ) 🥛 > 🌽Corn is needed in many recipes (corn flour), along with Dates (sugar) so it's good to keep stacks. >>Have Fun!!!
Alright so, another in my complicated reviews - I really loved this game. Like, I think it's fun, I love exploring weird wild west variants, and while some things were clunky and a little hard for me, I had a good time. What sank this for me, unfortunately, was a part in the story I just, personally dont ever really engage well with. Spoilers, while being as vague as possible:
At one point your best friend asks you to stop what you're doing because it will hurt him and he is afraid.
And I know it's me being a bit of a baby, but I dont like it when a game has that as a plot point but doesnt give me any way of addressing it. You just bully through and continue pushing forward, despite knowing the cost for reasons that don't seem to be more important than "well I might be able to do it". I just wish that I had either been given more of a reason to push through or a way to talk about it with my pal in-game. Without that, I really dont want to put up with the janky controls, the lack of customization around your camp, the hard to manage and move plants, the sometimes too floaty, sometimes too sticky camera, the lagging and screen tearing when trying to do a race - all stuff that I can push through and just handle when I'm having a good time, but as soon as that good time in the story and setting is gone, it's way too much for me. If what's in the spoilers doesnt seem like something that bothers you (and it's not going to bother everyone, it's something I'm personally just not keen on), there's a LOT of really fun things in this game. I like the art style and direction, I like the feel of a badlands witch and exploring the miasma with a plague doctor mask is cool as hell. There are performance problems, as other reviewers have likely noted in more detail than me, but if you like the aesthetic and how the story looks, it's not a bad time at all.
I got it for $2 and it was so worth it
I have played this game for many hours now. I absolutely LOVE the concept of the game and it's a lot of fun crafting and exploring. But my game got bugged so bad, that I can't continue the main story anymore. I have tried everything I could, the only thing I could do is start over. But I don't want to do that. I don't want to lose all my progress and start over. So for that reason I can't say I recommend the game. It also seems like the devs have stopped updating the game as well. Which is such a shame, because I had so much fun playing.
As far as I got, this game had more similarities with an "Openworld-Survival-craft" game, than a"farming sim", but I did not get too far into it, so my assessment might not be accurate. Anyway, playing this game I could not shake the feeling, that it might not have been properly finished.
This is a pleasant gardening sim with an entertaining story and good exploration mechanics. While I can easily get lost in all of it there are some janky parts so don't expect a fully polished experience, but it's fun all the same!
