Reviews
I liked this game a lot sometimes and hated it for some moments. It is really special and i would only recommend it to a small amount of people. You have to like these sort of games. pros: -gameplay: its nice and not too overwhelming in the beginning cause you have not so many abilities. It will get complex and i really like that in the end you can feel how you have gotten better. the only thing i have to say is that i played with controller and i normally dont play with controller so maybe its normal, but for the heavy attacks you have to hold square and do the movement with X and R2. I hated that. -artstyle: incredible. I think you couldnt do anything better. -world design: i really like the map, it is great designed with huge variety. And the little details are nice. For example the signs which show where benches are or stag stations. Also the map showcase is brilliant. You have your own markers and the games markers. And you see where you forgot a part. Also its cool that you always have to find Cornifer to get the new map. cons: -backtracking: thats unfortunately the bread and butter of the game and with not so many tp stations it is annoying and takes so much time and effort, i dont want to know how many hours i spend on it. It is dumb when you dont have the ability to get up to the grub and that happens so much more often than you think. -not much story: It feels like a souls like, you have some characters and some artifacts where you can obtain some knowledge but thats it. And even the things you are told feel so vage. I expected a bit more here. -bosses: thats the part where i am probably most disappointed. Ok i think i didnt do all bosses in the game, but i thought that there were going to be more iconic bosses. the only two bosses that i will remember are the mantis lords and the radiance. the mantis lords had a cool music and i liked the gameplay and presentation. With the radiance i had not so much fun. It was by far the hardest boss i did and it was so annoying to do the easy hollow knight first part, where i could almost trade hits and then do the crazy op monster. dont get me wrong the bosses had fun concepts like the dream warriors which i enjoyed. And one more thing: When the 3 dreamers got marked on the map i thought: wow three awesome bossfights with unique cool concepts and designs. They have so cool names the teacher, the watcher and the monster. And then i got there and you slap them in their dream 4 times and THATS IT. You cant even imagine how sad i was. I was crying like a baby that got his candy stolen. Shame. Normally i do a boss ranking and if you know me, you know how much i like these rankings from DS, but this moment settled it for me and i didnt want to do it. scandalous i know. -bank:
once you deposit some amount the banker leaves and you cant store anymore??? it is just unnessecary to take that from you for a dumb joke. And then you have to search the Internet where the hell she is. I had to do that a lot btw cause some things are just so random that i didnt get.
-start: for me it was rough to get started. It took for about 5 hours till i got hooked and i think the achievements say it with unusually low percentages that most people quit really early. all in all, you have to try it, but you have to be a bit patient and not expect a lot of story: 8/10 i will play silksong soon.
