Simple concept, great execution. Perfect balance between frustration and satisfaction. Highly recommend.

This is what we call a GAG (Good Ass Game.) It's a fun shooter that requires less and less of your focus as you become more powerful and understand the game more. The rules are very simple: a lot of people will shoot at you, your gun will overheat and jam. That's not to say the game gets easier as it goes on, you just become more resilient and familiar with how it works. THAT is what makes a good power fantasy. Something that seems quite hard becomes quite easy as you learn more about it. You get new weapons and attachments but they are mostly 'sidegrades' that give you more freedom of engagement. The enemies never change save a couple secrets so it's a great way to measure your strength as the game goes on. There are power-ups and things like larger magazines that do offer a more tangible progression, but that's just gravy. A huge part of this progression is that the maps are so simple and large that you might think they are randomly generated at first, which I believe to be intentional design. Learning how to navigate is probably the greatest power the player obtains. Learning how the the enemy ai spawn and interact with each other, you can use your map knowledge to become the hunter instead of getting your head blown off in the crossfire. I have like 1000 games and none of them ever keep me for more than an hour but I marathoned this all weekend because the sensation of personal gamer growth made me want to drink mtn dew and scream slurs like I havent in years. Good job devs.
Great game, fun combat, very creepy and intriguing art design. my only complaint is that there isn't more. Worth getting, even at full price.
For a 500mb game you think it would run well, but it really doesn't. Not only did the controls feel janky even after tweaking sensitivity, it felt like it took an entire year for something as simple as sprinting to respond. Good idea in concept, but holy needs-polishing, Batman. Plus things like recoil control aren't nearly as simple as it's made out to be in the trailer. Felt like I was looking at the ceiling after two bullets with the handgun, which combined with the overdone sensitivity, it's just not enjoyable to have to rip one's mouse down after every bullet.
This might be one of the most entertaining lite games I've played in a while. The aspect of it being overwhelming with any chance to fail with every encounter really keeps the gunfights entertaining in a way that's less frustrating than most extraction shooters I've run into.
Hole is a game that focuses on good gunplay. Very fun game play loop. Good progression system.
Loads of fun! A lowpoly minimalist extraction shooter with fantastic gun play set within a perfectly surreal and somewhat unsettling liminal world. Worth every penny.
Hole is immensely satisfying
