I am excited to see where this game goes, but currently its nearly empty and one sided. Currently in its state its basically a sandbox builder with a few things to place. The game has no depth at all and zero real purpose other then to place things and avoid fires. Ill be keeping my eye out for updates, but in its current state, its boring. UPDATE : Almost 2 Months later and ZERO updates. Looking like a dead game. UPDATE UPDATE : DEAD ASS GAME.
I believe this game was made by a solo developer doing this as a side project, so I was ready for some imperfections. I really wanted to like it though, so I gave it a fair shot. Unfortunately I can't recommend it in its current state. The first issues I ran into were just unpolished UI/UX things: - clunky UI - unintuitive controls and building loop - very poor staff management with little feedback - missing hotkey to delete rooms/objects making it very tedious to do renovations - no hints as to why you can't delete floors (for example, an electrical wire will block deletion, but it is hidden in a different layer) - trash piles up very quickly if you don't spam garbage cans everywhere These were annoying, but again it's a solo developer in their spare time, so I worked around the tedium. Similarly it would be very nice to have some sort of blueprint mechanism as there is a lot of repetition between floors, but I wasn't going to leave a bad review over that. The next thing I ran into was realizing that the game is extremely easy to "beat". After an hour or two on my first tower, I realized that I had positive and stable money and research flow, and it became a waiting game. I had to leave the house so to test this I saved the game and just let it run while I was gone. I returned to many millions of dollars and several times as many research points as needed to complete every upgrade. Again, this was very early in the game - the point when most similar games are a delicate balancing act. That was disappointing, but I decided that I would give it a shot as a pure sandbox with unlimited money. The only difference between checking that box and not is waiting - no real challenge. I set out on my second tower without the waiting involved and built something I was happy with. I did this while the game was paused, got it to a good spot, then unpaused. Everything was fine and going well, and while it was fun watching the tower fill up, it was quickly setting in that I probably wouldn't play this game again until an update fixing some of the above issues comes out. But then I ran into a repeatable and completely game-breaking bug: a few minutes into running the game, staff, residents, and visitors started freezing in place. Eventually visitors would despawn and their replacements would arrive at the different transport spawn-points, but they remained frozen and unable to enter the tower. Some staff kept doing their jobs, but I found that it was only some of them when a fire broke out and nobody showed up to fight it. I found 20+ firefighters frozen in place in the staff rooms as the fire spread to engulf most of the floor it started on. I'm sure it would have continued to spread, but after realizing this was a glitch I exited and reloaded the save. Unfortunately I ran into the same freezing problem again just a couple minutes into the game. The bones of this game are pretty good, if imperfect, and with some more polish I would easily recommend it - BUT this bug makes the game completely unplayable. I recommend waiting for an update before trying this game - I won't be playing again until then.
Currently a bug with people movement. No replies from dev to numerous email and messages. Pretty much unplayable at the moment.
Seems to be abandoned by the dev. No update for months to fix the game breaking bugs (people getting stuck around taxi poles, firefighters not putting out fires etc). Would not recommend until the dev actually start working on it again. There's an enjoyable game behind the bugs, but it looks like the bugs are there to stay which makes it incredibly frustrating to play, if not unplayable. I'm requesting a refund as I feel genuinely scammed.
City builder + options - UI = Build and expand your highrise with expansive options to choose from. The tutorial is decent. Design rooms, floors, power grid and more. I saw other people in the comments reference this game as early access however as of today (12/8/21) it is not marked early access however that is EXACTLY how it feels. The mechanics are there but there is nothing actually to do. I really really want to like this game and if it gets some sort of feeling of progression vs a demo, early-access, or sandbox type feel I think I'd really enjoy it. For now I am requesting a refund but will happily repurchase if this game develops into more of an actual game.
PRO The game is fun for building skyscrapers CONS The controls are a bit weird The build system is not fun, you have to place hallways for everything When building it doesn't keep your last used object, e.g. placing a window, it's a bit frustrating If there's a fire there's no way to put it out, even after hiring 100 firefighters There isn't much customization, you can build a few of the preset things and that's it You have to control power, but that's it, no heating, water, gas internet? CONCLUSION Needs some more work, requested a refund, might give it a try if there are more updates
PRO: It's chilly game about building skyscrapers I like idea of this game CONS: I like the idea of this game, but it's a bit boring. There's no much to do. The game doesn't have almost any challenges, so you are only building the skyscrapers and only challenge are fires, but usually they are so small so you don't even have to worry about them. The building possibilities aren't very advanced too so it's not possible to build more complex things like diagonal walls or to make constructions on pillars. I think that would be great if you had to take care about more things to make everyone happy - not only provide electricity but also water, internet (maybe) and so on. RESULT I played it for 3 hours and during this time I managed to unlock almost all of possible rooms. At this point there's no sense to play further unless there will be more content or more challenging game mode. But I'm sure that I will play more. It's fun and as I mentioned earlier chilly game
Cool concept but refunded for the following reasons: - Glitchy hallway placement/deletion: You can't delete single zones which makes it annoying to place small objects. - Can't make templates, so building duplicate floors is monotonous. - No planning mode, so you just have to build then refund to test things out. - No autosave.... just when I finally started getting into it I lost all my progress. - No UI scaling. The UI is monster sized on my 3840x1600 21:9 screen. Will add this to my wishlist and maybe try it again in a year. Good luck devs :)
