About
HexLemma is a constraint-satisfaction deduction puzzle played on a hexagonal board. Each cell holds a hidden value from 1 to 7. Your job is to deduce every one — guided by six clue families that compose into intricate proofs.
You never guess. Wrong moves are blocked before they can land. Every commit you make is provably correct, every elimination provably necessary. The puzzle is fair, and the proof is yours alone.
Pair-Same (=) — two distant cells share a value.
Pair-Differ (≠) — two distant cells must differ.
Order (<, >) — one cell's value is smaller than its partner's.
Count (N·V) — exactly N of a cell's six neighbors hold value V.
Parity (E / O) — the cell holds an even or odd value.
Vertex Sum (Σ) — three cells meeting at a corner sum to a target number.
The clues compose. A Count tells you where 3s can land; a Pair-Differ narrows it further; a Vertex Sum rules out the last ambiguity. Every solve is an emergent chain you build, not a recipe you follow.
Campaign — 25 hand-tuned puzzles across five stages. Each stage introduces one new clue family. Start with the basics in Stage 1 (Foundations); finish on full-grammar Insane boards in Stage 5 (Capstone).
Daily Challenge — one puzzle per UTC date, the same for every player worldwide. Compete on the Steam leaderboard.
Random Puzzle — pick a board shape, difficulty, and seed. Eight board shapes (Hex Disk, Rectangle, Triangle, Parallelogram, Hex Star, L-Shape, Donut, organic blobs). Four difficulties from Easy to Insane.
No timer. No mistake cap. Take five minutes or take an hour.
Cloud saves across machines.
Move replays for every puzzle you finish.
13 achievements across campaign progress, perfectionist runs, and daily streaks.
Localization: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Turkish, Portuguese (Portugal + Brazil).
Themes: Four themes including two designed for colorblind players (deuteranopia + tritanopia).
Full controller support with hex-natural six-way cursor navigation. Steam Deck ready. Partial support already baked. Working on control scheme optimizations.
A relaxation puzzle with teeth. Settle in.

HexLemma is one of those puzzle games that looks simple at first glance but quietly pulls you in with its elegant design. It’s a constraint‑satisfaction puzzle played on a hexagonal grid, built around six clue families, eight board shapes, four difficulties, and even a 25‑level campaign plus infinite puzzle generation for long‑term playability. Each puzzle gives you a hexagonal board filled with clues: numbers, symbols, or directional hints; each belonging to one of the six clue families. Your job is to deduce what number goes inside each hex until all the clues are satisfied. HexLemma is a wonderful find. It effectively blends the logic of Hexcells with the visual deduction of Sudoku, all set on a unique hexagonal grid. The goal is to deduce the hidden values (1–7) in each cell of the board. You are never asked to guess; instead, you rely on six different types of clues, such as comparing values between distant cells, checking parity, or calculating the sum of cells at a vertex. The game is designed to be fair, meaning you build your solution through a logical chain of proofs rather than trial and error, and it even alerts you from making invalid moves. What I truly appreciate about this game is its focus on being a "relaxation puzzle with teeth". There are no countdown timers or pressure, allowing you to settle in and take as much time as you need to work through the logic. Whether you are tackling the 25-level campaign, competing in the deterministic daily challenge, or just generating a random puzzle to unwind, it offers a deeply satisfying mental workout that feels both structured and meditative. It feels a bit like solving a hybrid of Hexcells, Minesweeper, and Sudoku, but with its own identity. Every clue pushes you toward one logical conclusion, and the joy comes from watching the board slowly “click” into place as deductions come together. You can even watch an instant replay of the generated boards. The interface is clean, the controls are intuitive (and it even supports controllers and Steam Deck), and the puzzles are bite‑sized enough to enjoy during a break yet deep enough to scratch that “one more puzzle” itch. I genuinely enjoyed how relaxing it is. There are no flashy distractions, just pure logic. The hexagonal layout gives the puzzles a fresh feel compared to the usual square‑grid games, and the variety of clues keeps things from ever feeling repetitive. The best part is the moment‑to‑moment deduction. You make a small discovery here, fill in a few tiles there, and suddenly the board starts making sense. It’s the kind of quiet satisfaction that only well‑designed logic puzzles can deliver. The daily deterministic challenge is also a lovely touch. Everyone worldwide gets the same puzzle each day, which makes it fun to compare or simply feel part of a shared experience. There are settings for a dark and light palette and the ability to swap the input on your mouse. Also there's a new mode for a "Distraction-Free" interface and a Hardcore mode that won't alert you to any mistakes that you make. Final thoughts: If you enjoy thoughtful, clean, logic‑driven puzzles, HexLemma is absolutely worth your time. It’s polished, clever, innovative, and endlessly playable thanks to its infinite generator. I walked away feeling both relaxed and mentally refreshed. It's exactly what I want from a puzzle game. What a delight! This game came out of nowhere and hit all the right notes! I received this game for review through my minesweeper curator page while I was moving countries so I was only able to check it a couple weeks later. By then the game already had 15+ updates and patches. The game has all the things I look for: pure logic-based deduction with no luck involved, a clean and friendly UI, different novel mechanics to learn and master, lots of QoL features, an active dev, and a chill, cool vibe. The 25 curated campaign levels are delightful and then you have weekly, daily and random puzzles. I hope a community springs up around sharing interesting level codes. Not only that but you have different modes and ways to play the game. I finished the campaign (no mistakes ;)) and I'm looking forward to playing the daily and weekly boards for a long while. The deduction loops it provides are satisfying and interesting. I would love an update with more curated levels, mechanics and features. I think this game stands alongside some of the best of the subgenre. One QoL feature I'd love is the ability to select/highlight all the = sign cells at once. Hit a button and highlight/select/link all = cells on the board. If you like pure deduction minesweeper evolutions, check out my curator page for more recommendations: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45912337/
A fun and very well-designed logic game with lots of puzzles and nice graphics. The developer is extremely responsive; I had an immediate response to some suggestions for improvement.
Fun logic puzzle
I'm not normally a fan of puzzle games, but decided to give HexLemma a try. First of all, the calming music is a huge plus. I would have normally thought that after a day's worth of solve problems for work, I wouldn't want to solve puzzles, but the music puts you in a serene state, allowing you to really just enjoy the game. The game is also surprisingly deep for such a simple game. You'll find yourself discovering little ways to gather clues to solve the puzzles as they grow in complexity. This adds a discovery dimension, which adds a separate sense of satisfaction, stacking on top of the puzzle solving. I haven't finished the campaign, and so far only have two puzzles completed with no mistakes, so I'm not very good, but the game excites me enough to where I can see myself resolving my past puzzles to get the 0-mistake achievements.
This game is really cool😎 I love the background music and the rules are quite easy to pick up on! Overall it’s a nice relaxing game.
I dont play many puzzle games I prefer shooters, but this game is really fun and relaxing, easy to open when I have a free moment and am in the mood for a puzzle. Very well made and the tutorial leaves little room for confusion.
