enjoyable story with basic gameplay i would recommend just know going in this game is not for the mechanics
Very well made. The art style is very cool and pretty and the meaning of the story is very deep and in depth. Everyone that worked on the game deserves so many more awards
It is as linear as a game can get. Wish I didn't look up any of the puzzles cause I ended up seeing spoilers. Overall, a solid 7/10.
This is such a unique game. The storytelling, the atmosphere, the voice acting, the visuals, everything together creates a captivating experience. The first hours I thought it would be a walking simulator with a simple combat system (which I myself wouldn't be opposed to). But the different kinds of "puzzles" are fun without being to difficult and still entertaining. The appearance of new enemies and bosses kept the combat fun aswell. And even when you are just walking around, calm down and relax, the collectibles are great. You can find some lorestones, and most of them are easy to find. They tell you stories of Viking mythology and support the story of the world in which Senua lives. Finally, when you beat the game, you can even watch "Hellblade Feature" in the title screen. It show's some interesting work that was involved in the making of the game. But careful it has some major spoilers.
This game has NOTHING. And it gave me nothing but irritation, boredom, misery, and sleepiness. You could’ve installed a yawn counter for a game this short, and by the end of the playthrough it would’ve hit a number the counter wasn’t even designed to display. Nothing but negative emotions. Maybe if this tired, overused theme we’ve been beaten over the head with for years had been done as a movie, or maybe a mini-series, it could’ve worked better. But as a game — with gameplay this painfully repetitive and mind-numbingly boring — it’s a complete failure. And I have no idea what breed of “connoisseurs” is recommending this. Who the hell are you people? What do you even look like? The problem isn’t just that it’s boring — playing through it feels like working a brutal, soul-crushing routine job. Most games lately have stopped trying to entertain. Instead, they’re obsessed with pushing “important” issues according to the developers, stuffing in social and political commentary nobody asked for except maybe two fat chicks with dyed hair... It’s not fun to play, it’s not engaging, it doesn’t help you relax or unwind, and it’s not even interesting. While speedrunning this thing with every ounce of patience I had left, I actually considered giving it a 1.5/10 purely for the graphics, because visually it looks on par with some UE5 projects from 2025–2026. But that utterly pointless, merciless, brain-dead mob-grind the developer forced on me right at the end killed even that tiny bit of goodwill. 0/10. Or less. P.S. By the way, this almost decade-old piece of trash still stutters and freezes in places — even on my hardware.
