I like atmospheric walking simulators when I have the mood for them. Some of my favorite games are very slow, such as Death Stranding or What Remains of Edith Finch. The first Hellblade was an overall mediocre, but hauntingly beautiful representation of madness, self reflection and the pursuit of Senua's own grieving arc, enriched by folkloristic northern mythology lore and her own haunting demons, all enhanced by a stellar audio design, but held back by simplistic match-the-shape "puzzles" and mediocre combat. With the sequel, I struggle to find different words from what I have written above, because it suffers from everything mentioned previously, only somehow made worse. It's as if Ninja Theory saw the bad decisions they made, and decided, against better judgement, to double down on them. What we got here is an unnecessary sequel which repeats the same exact patterns as its predecessor, with its "puzzles", and even more bogged down combat (we go from group combat to strictly one-on-one, minus a melee option as well), and an infuriatingly slow pace which does nothing to enrich the experience with either amusing dialogue or mindbending visuals. Hell, half the runtime is spent either cave spelunking or slow walking, or "fighting" the same enemy one on one while the voices politely wait for their turn to say their opinion on the current situation. Overall, Hellblade II is a stunning technical showcase, wrapped around the skeleton of the first game. Beautiful to look at, extremely tedious to play.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

So this is what we waited for? Combat gameplay is ruined and silly crap compared to the almost perfect in the first game. In the first you had a fluent mix out of defense, attack, multi enemy combat and a clear control of heavy and normal attacks. You had full control all the time and there were clear rules. Now it feels like a random chaos out of "Smack the button which feels to be right. Sometimes they parry, sometimes not and almost all the time you can't hit with the heavy attack because they dodge always. So spam mouse1 and press ctrl when they attack. Done. Bye." Aside from the dumbed down "gentlemen fights" (enemies wait till you kill their pals, nice right?) you feel like in a "press W" simulator and "wait until the game is finished with endless dialogues and monologues" which are -10% interesting compared to the story in the first game. i bought it while it was 75% discounted and still feel ripped off. This game feels more like some dudes tried to copy the first game but didn't know at all how to reach it's perfection. So they just smacked some "cinematic" clone of it on the table and expect a AAA price. And one thing: Since many of the graphic effects (the art style looks fantastic though!) look ugly as hell you have at least to do this: "Open Engine.ini file and copy and paste these things: [SystemSettings] r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0 r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0 r.Tonemapper.Quality=0 r.NT.Lens.Distortion.Intensity=0 r.NT.Lens.Distortion.Stretch=0 r.NT.Lens.ChromaticAberration.Intensity=0 r.NT.DOF.RotationalBokeh=0 r.NT.DOF.NTBokehTransform=0 r.FilmGrain=0 r.NT.AllowAspectRatioHorizontalExtension=0 r.NT.EnableConstrainAspectRatio=0" (by "Goldy". Look for it in the game's steam guides) Without these changes in the ini-file the game looks like some cancer in your eyeball while some draugr hammered two big black blocks in your face.
Jogo de only W, história pra boi dormir.
I’ll give Hellblade II a positive review but only because Steam doesn’t offer a neutral option and I had to give its predecessor a negative review. I’ll start with the positive. The graphics are not just great but, as with the first Hellblade, used in a really interesting way that goes beyond just “good” and “bad”. The voice acting is also terrific and is used in a way that really draws you into the story, which is genuinely gripping. In addition, the puzzles, while simple, feel less clunky than in the first game. The game is quite short, you’ll finish it in well under ten hours even while taking your time. That’s not necessarily good or bad, just something to be aware of. The gameplay in general is pretty minimal, this is much more of an interactive narrative than a true video game. Again, that’s not necessarily good or bad, just something to be aware of before you buy the game. Now the bad. The combat is overly simplistic. The first few times it feels cinematic but it wears out its welcome really fast. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the final boss fight. I literally paused the game to see if I was doing something wrong before realizing that no, I wasn’t, the fight is just incredibly repetitive and obnoxious. I also wasn’t a fan of the narrative choice in this game. Part of the appeal of the first game for me was wondering what was real and what was in Senua’s mind. Hellblade II does away with all that ambiguity. It’s like the writers said, “forget subtlety and ambiguity, let’s just start the game off with a biga** giant that eats people!”
Disappointing.
Walking simulator, boring ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game with a skitzo mc. You have to listen to 40 different people whispering in your headphones all at the exact same time while the character walks painfully slow and takes unnecessary diversions on her simple path. A river with 3 feet of water? you should walk an extra 5 minutes to avoid that. Graphics are good but everything else sucks balls. combat is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lame. you'd think a game called Hellblade would be the opposite but its just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring. I'm trying so hard to like this game but I cant find a reason to. It would have been so easy to add quick time events for sections that you have to run or make the combat more intricate but nah, just spam left click, dodge, spam left click more.
better go watch it on yt
a very great game. i enjoyed every second of it! it got deep. the sound, the cinematic atmosphere, the music.. everything was just amazing.
