I just bought it during a sale because of the cute pixel-art. But by god! This is was a great experience, the main plot is heart-wrenching, the writing hilarious more often than not, the world feels quite alive with beautifull visuals and an amazing soundtrack to accompany it. Kinda feels like Undertale, but a proper JRPG. Never felt grindy as encounters tend to give almost half a level and the battles themselves are reasonably fast, bonus points for having the encounters visible in the world so if you're not feeling it, you can skirt around those. Boss battles are simple but buffs and debuffs are a must, SMT style. That being said, it's not all sunshine and rainbows, i felt like the world puzzles exist only on the very beginning and the very end of the game, being all but abandoned during 70% of your journey, and by endgame you can feel the padding, and some party members are ridiculously more powerfull than the others. Still , a great JRPG, recommend for all fans of the genre! ~I'm Tiny Oni Tony, and i hate everything!

It's not actually a "creature collector": it's a party-based RPG with a rotating cast, the majority of whom are non-human creatures ........ who spend their time in your party in their human forms. It's not necessarily bad for what it is, though I do feel like several sub-systems could be explained better, such as alchemy. Unfortunately, I've gotten stuck on a puzzle that requires timing I can't pull off and that's necessary to progress, meaning I have to downvote this game on that alone.
