Haunted Hotel II: Believe the Lies

Wanted to play this. Then I get into the game, and you can not play in full screen mode. The list of items you have to find on the side isn't even viewable! The only way to see it is to put the game into windowed mode. This just kills it for me. If you want to play in fullscreen don't bother.

[H1] 4/10 A slight improvement from the first game, but still dated and short hidden object game [/H1] I'm slowly making my way through the Haunted Hotel series and this is number 2, Believe the Lies. There are some improvements from the first game. The objects seem more relevant to the location you are exploring, still a little "scatter the random objects on the image" but with a little more thought that the first game. There are also some light puzzles but nothing major to write home about at this stage. Compared to the first there is less variety, reassemble a photo returns but without the nice paintings from the first, there are instances of use this object with that. Sadly some of these don't work so well. Trying to fix a car was just trial and error as you tried location, then object at location to see what worked. The little hints at the bottom of the screen often lagged behind when you clicked and didn't help. There was a journal that was supposed to help but really just outlined the basic task you were trying to complete. The story does carry on from the very strange and intriguing first game. It is more appealing told this time with some stylishly animated sequences. It doesn't move the story on much but I was interested and it sets up further titles. This game isn't very long taking me less that 2 hours. However the first game felt quite repetitive and ended up far too long where as this felt a little too brief, maybe they will reach a better balance in the next. I had no issues getting this to work on Windows 11, no bugs or crashes. I can't quite recommend this game unless you really love hidden object or you want to play the entire series. It's short but ok. 4/10

HOG parts are very crowded and I wish there was a chance to zoom in. I shouldn't have to lean in to about 10 cms close to my laptop screen the engine repair drove me insane trying to find out what fit where and sometimes things ddin't want to click into their places even after trying 5-6 times I liked that the game automaially switched to the next scene

as one of the og of the series, it's very basic and very much something just for the collectors of the series. as far as being something to actually Play... eh, it's okay but as i said, it's one of the originals. as in, before the devs and publishers had figured out how to make a game with the full spit-n-polish routine in place. there are very few mini-games and the actual hidden objects part are what one can expect from something this old. there are no bells or whistles on this old piece. you play it to the end and that's that. no bonus (as with one from this publisher listed as a "Collector's Edition" might have) chapters. the game ends on the forbidden "to be continued" so there's that. nothing's really explained or set up. you'd just be playing for the sake of playing it. so... the big question... would i recommend it... if you're a collector of the series... oh kay?? Maybe?? if you want a solid game though... vvv

Вторая часть Haunted Hotel – очень интересный предмет… Она вроде бы есть, а будто и нет. Х) Наш герой из первой части, как оказалось, разослал информацию о своём приключении по инстанциям. Как ни странно, его даже не посчитали чокнутым и дали делу ход. Поэтому во второй части мы играем аж за целого агента ФБР! Агенты – это вам не какие-то там простые обыватели, они всё делают быстро и чётко. Наверное, именно поэтому всю игру я быстро и чётко проскакала по сценам поиска, с трудом уловив сюжет. Разработчики, кажется, решили разобраться с проблемой длинного текста радикально – убрать его почти полностью. Поэтому всё, что я уяснила, это то, что по ходу игры мы идём по ложному следу. Напоминает какой-то двухчасовой тизер к следующей игре, где мы уже и будем разбираться, что за странную бабуйню тут шаманят представители какого-то культа. Небольшой хронометрах первой игры мне понравился, но в этой части как-то уж совсем мало геймплея. Такое ощущение, что не желая снова городить кучи текста, разработчики не знали, чем заполнить промежутки между сценами поиска и мини-играми. Полноценных локаций тут нет. Однако в этой игре есть и плюсы. Во-первых, сюда завезли графику. Локации оформлены более сочно и чётко. Правда, почему-то эта игра нормально работала у меня только в оконном режиме. Мини-игры не самые плохие. Припоминаю я из них, однако, только пазлы. Также убрали ограничение во времени. Не то, чтобы в прошлой игре у меня были с ним проблемы… Но всё же это развитие. Атмосфера тут вроде бы тоже осталась. Есть и милые отсылочки к первой игре. Такое я всегда приветствую. Но, в общем-то, наверное, и всё. Тем, кто хочет отыграть серию Haunted Hotel, думаю, сыграть в это всё-таки стоит. Чтоб сюжет проследить (Возможно, я и сама даже переиграю как-нибудь). Любителям старья… Как говорит один киноблогер, may be. Чтобы прямо сильно-сильно проникнуться духом старых хогов, явно нужно что-то другое (позубодробительней), но и совсем уж ужасной я эту игру не считаю.

To avoid wasting your time, Youtube the first two Haunted Hotel games and fast forward through the HO scenes to read the storyline. The third game is much better.
