About
Hartacon Tactics is a survival turn-based tactical RPG, featuring higly deterministc mechanics, beautiful hand-painted 2D art and deep gameplay.
Hire characters of unique classes, and wisely use their strengths, skills and weapons to defeat enemies as you travel through the continent of Kaus in the single-player survival campaign, or challenge other players in co-op battles and multiplayer.
Hartacon Tactics is a survival game, it has a setting but not a story. Think of Minecraft, you have things to do, places to go and enemies to fight, but not a plot where you save the world and cut scenes or dialog. If this is not for you, just skip this one, I am still your friend.
Classes
Classes differentiate themselves in terms of a variety of battle stats: from strength to magic power and defense, movement capability such as walkable distance and jump height, as well as frequency of action. Moreover, fighters of each class specialize in the use of a weapon and its related techniques. The knight is your all-round balanced warrior, the dwarf a front liner with great defense, the lionman an unstoppable force of nature, and the list goes on with eight carefully diversified unit types, each with their own strategic role in battle.
Weapons
There are many different weapon types: swords, bows, axes, knives, and all have their characteristic attack patterns and allow the execution of specific techniques. Axes can be used to break your opponents armors, knives thrown to inflict status ailments, while hand combat is good to move targets and open paths through your enemy's defense line.
Magic
All magic skills belong to some element, and different elements include skills that are quite different from each other expecially in terms of range and area of effect.
Water skills can hit multiple targets in wide patterns, and they can target only positions lower than the caster; Earth skills always affect the positions around the caster; Lightning skills can only strike single targets and have no height limitation; Wind skills target multiple positions and have the widest range.
In addition, some elemental skills may cause some status ailments, like Ice skills inducing Paralysis, or Lightning skills inducing Darkness.
Different characters have higher or lower affinity with each element, making them more or less vulnerable and able to deal more or less damage.
Character customization
You can develop your characters by learning new skills and balancing their battle stats to suit your strategy.

I played it through almost 40 hours so I'd say I got my moneys worth. I liked the classes and the skills and how easy it was changing equipment some of the information about stats and things were in more than one place so it was hard to figure out some stuff. Kinda weird about mid game my healer started to take 0 to damage with a heal spell, eventually the only thing that would heal her were the special holy attacks the healer has and she couldn't be resurrected. It's got that old skool flavor of a sega 16bit. Kind of a good start but obviously needs more depth. The story for the campaign mode is, you're going to war-->conquer this content. That's it, that's literally the whole story, there is no conversing or dialogue of any sort, no side quests or special NPCs you save from a dungeon. Basically what you start with is what you get. About 1/2 through the map it gets pretty trivial as it splits in many directions so when you back track you end up having to kill a bunch of trash mobs to get back to your level of difficulty(you can keep gaining levels though by having your lowest levels attack your highest levels, lol). Like I said I paid $2 bucks black friday sale and I got almost 40 hours of entertainment out of it, can't really beat it.

Okay, I've never been a big turn-based game lover, but seeing and playing this little game truly baffles me. The number of negative reviews for this little game is what really confuses me. I mean, I know it's not anywhere near a triple A RPG game, but it's also only a $2 indie game as well. From what little I've played, I see both a TON of effort put into this, and a see a very high value game for the price tag. This game has spawned a whole new series on my YT channel and you can check out why I am so confused right HERE: https://youtu.be/ztVu6Lype8k RECOMMENDED. This is exactly what I love seeing from any indie developer, especially with their very first title on Steam. I love seeing effort and a developer offering such a huge bang for your buck. If you like turn based RPG games, please consider giving this game a fair chance and ignore all of the trolls hating on this little gem.
Not to shabby. As a fan of tactical games this is pretty good. Not FF-Tactics by any means, but worth the play.
Hartacon Tactics is a game I had been looking at for a while, Originally released on the XBox360, the game made its way to the PC via Steam. The game itself originally had no mouse support when placed on Steam, and that was a disappointment to many. There was also no way to change the controls to your liking, and you had to figure it out for yourself, basically. Hence, initial 50/50 reviews. Now for my own review. Written 9/9/2017. May update as things are fixed and new content is added. Pros: - Many possible teams - Decently smart AI - Class-specific skills, many different spells - Multiple armor types to suit different needs, all with strengths and weaknesses - Frequent updates - Plans for the future - Great character strengthening system - Circulation of many battle themes - Feels like a classic Tactics game - Online mode for battling other people, with an ELO ranking system! - Level editor to create your own levels to share with other people! (And yes, you can play on them!) - Can provide a challenge for even experienced Tactical players! - Not expensive at all Cons: - Online was kinda buggy to get started. Start button was greyed out when I hosted, wasn't buggy for when friend hosted. - No "Main Hero" to get behind, one that is unique and different from the rest*(1) - Simplistic "Go through the map beating up enemies and conquer all dungeons to win" goal**(2) - Lacks a lot of skill descriptions, must go into Help to figure them out - Sometimes, you spawn RIGHT NEXT TO enemies on maps. - Leaving the screen (Not even alt-tabbing) causes the game to completely stop what it's doing - After attacking or leveling up, the screen flashes. If any button is pressed when it flashes, the game instantly crashes. Why is it flashing? Stop flashing, game! D: *(1)A main hero is just a preference of mine, and isn't really necessary. I see it as a con, but it doesn't need to happen for me to enjoy the game **(2)This is also personal preference, I like to have more in a Tactics game Now, all of this being said, what do I think of the game? I think it is a very solid old-school tactical game with a very bright future. As it is right now, it's too easy to accidentally crash, but it's still a fun experience. You can play with your friends and have a merry ol' time. I give it a nice thumbs up, and a yippee for Charlie!
Lots of potential.
Fell in love with this on the 360. My friend and I have been trying to get online multiplayer to work and can only do 1v1 it seems
Is fun for $2.99. Can, and should be upgraded and tweaked. Might of been able to sell for $3.99 lol.
jogo muito bom lembra muito final fantasy tactics
cant recommend this .. menues and getting started felt so fiddely .. friends and enemys look the same wich I didnt realise looking at the screenshots .. sorry but its not my cup of tea - immeadiate turnoff refund requested (my first time ever doing that) and it cost me less then a € .. but still - cant forcemyself to play it -- Edid after the reply from the Dev: First of all thank you for your reply - I was on holiday so I only respond now. The controls and menu where so bad I couldnt stand it any longer I wanted to play this game realy sink my teeth into in and enjoy it bout it was impossible .. How about fixing the game instead of trashing on legit criticisms ? Maybe a color blind mode or the option to tint the caracters (i.e. Blue friendly - red enemy) ? The game has been out and about so long and no fixes ! I see a lot negative reviews all complaining about the same things and no update in +1 year We are not asking you to re-invent the wheel here smh But I see you wasting time and attacking people who wanted to enjoy the game but could not due to the huge problems ... all I wanted was a game like Vandal hearts / Ogre Tactics / FF Tactics or something like that .. PLEASE for the love of god polish this game make it as awsome as we want it to be and I gladly chance my review into a positive one !
