It's fun for the first area but it gets stale after that. Nothing else added or changed, just the environment. That's it. Same 4 songs keep playing. It started good but got boring eventually to the point that I don't even want to finish it.
Sechs bomb, sechs bomb
So, let me explain it quickly: this game is a sokoban/bomberman hybrid. This combination works really well and gives a lot of possibilities to create an interesting game. And here comes the problem: level design in this game is horrible. There are 3 worlds, 18 levels each and I can't really say that even one of them was memorable. You have a bunch of crates/barrels randomly spread over the level, a few extra bombs and bunch of enemies. Out of those 54 levels maybe 10 did look like they weren't auto-generated. In the arctic world there was ONE SINGLE LEVEL with a new mechanic that made the boxes slide after you push them. And that's it. That's all. Used once in the entire game. Everything else stays the same and the only thing that changes between worlds is the tile set. Overall, this game is something like 3,5/10. Movement feels clunky, enemies' AI is rather poor and the most importantly the game is super repetitive and linear.
The game is solid. Great value for it's price. If you are a retro gamer who grew up in the times of classic bomberman you sure will love this game!
A Bomberman-like game with amazing art-style and OST but the main focus of the game, gameplay, is very frustrating at best. The problem are most common enemies which seem to have no pattern and are just moving randomly, so it's more of a luck based thing than it is skill based. So far I encountered 4 enemies, out of which 2 are unpredictable and make the game much harder, by unbalancing it, than it should be, and those are the most common enemies you will encounter in every level. Because of this reason I cannot recommend the game, I grabbed it on 90% off but still feel like it's not justified due to it being so badly balanced.
Pros: + A fun, challenging arcade Sokoban game with bombs, robots, and This Guy. + Steampunk inspired presentation with piano scores and a neat projector view of the game. Cons: – Robots can be frustrating to trap and destroy. ”Mad Age & This Guy” is a fantastic arcade puzzle game that will challenge you on every level there is from the very start to the very end, and remember, when dealing with a mad man’s conquest of taking over the technological age with killer boiler bots and deadly roombas you can always count on This Guy. Thoroughly uninspired and not very enjoyable to play. Though the game has the appearance of and all the necessary mechanics for a decent Sokobond-meets-Bomberman puzzler, one never actually has to think much about how to complete a level. It is very rare for the resources (bombs, boxes, and exploding barrels) to be limited in a way that forces the player to take a thoughtful approach. Furthermore, very little of consequence changes across the 3 worlds (54 levels total), so the player is also not often forced to learn and adapt. To the developer's credit, he has chosen to describe the game somewhat more accurately as "arcade" and "action," but the tedious gameplay doesn't much support those descriptors either. While the blandness of the game is my primary reason for not recommending it, there are several other annoyances worth mentioning: *The first and most common type of robot moves randomly when it is not pursuing the player, yet also randomly disengages from the player when it is. Beyond further discouraging a thoughtful approach, this sometimes leads to an even less enjoyable waiting or guessing game as the player tries to trap the robot or destroy it out in the open. *There is the smallest of nods to a story, with some narrative before the first level and a tiny bit more after the last. But since it doesn't have any relevance to or come up during the gameplay, there is no sense that completing the levels furthers the protagonist's goals. A little more effort here would have been appreciated. *The smoke from some of the stacks and robots can obscure aspects of the level. *Each time you start up the game, you have to navigate back through all of the levels you have completed within a world to play the latest one. *Occasionally, a wall texture was replaced by a floor texture. *There is an annoying "Die 100 Times" achievement, as is apparently obligatory for cheap indie games that overestimate their own difficulty, think that such achievements count as actual content, or want to pad their length. It took me 6 hours of somewhat methodical play to complete the game at 100%. Even at its full price of $5, I would consider that to be an acceptable value if my only desire were to maximize my hours wasted per dollar. But since I want to have fun, I can't recommend this game.
Taki miks sokobana i bombermana. Jednak nie jakoś strasznie, bo "Mad Age & This Guy" to prosta gra. Warto.
I’d probably go with a mixed review if I could. The beginning levels are a lot of fun, but some of the later levels are either very frustrating or just tedious. I’ll go with a thumbs up though because I got it on sale and it’s worth at least 49 cents. This game is a mixture of pushing crates and barrels like in Sokoban and blowing things up like in Bomberman. The goal in each level is to reach the exit ladder. Each level also has two additional tasks that can be completed for achievements, find all parts of the secret machine and destroy all of the robots. The game displays how many secret machine parts you’ve collected along with the total number of parts. For example, it might display 3 out of 5 parts. However, the game does not display how many robots there are or how many robots you’ve destroyed. I think it would be better if the game showed the same info for robots that it does for secret machine parts. If you think you’ve overlooked a robot, then you have to walk around and check the level yourself. I thought the early levels were pretty good. It was fun to figure out how to surround the robots with crates to trap them and then use a bomb to blow them up. However, later levels added more arcade-type stuff like fire grills and moving lasers. The robots themselves were a mixed bag. Some would chase you if they spotted you and others would start to chase you, but then quickly lose interest and stop chasing you. I was able to figure out almost all of the levels, but I did have problems with one level. Fortunately, there’s a playthrough available on YouTube. I thought the achievements were pretty reasonable. Most of them are for completing levels, destroying robots and finding secret machine parts. On one level, there weren’t any secret machine parts. I’m not sure if that was an oversight or if it was some sort of joke, but either way, just finish the level and you can still get all of the achievements. You can replay a level to get the achievements, but the game doesn’t keep track of which levels you need to replay, so it’s a good idea to destroy all the robots and get all the parts before moving on to the next level. That way you don’t have to worry about missing an achievement. I was a little disappointed with the ending. It’s a bit too abrupt. I would have preferred more of a fanfare. The intro was brief as well, but I thought they’d make up for it with the ending. I think being able to make your own levels would have been a nice touch, but this game doesn’t have a workshop or a level editor.
