This is actually a great game. But the reason for the negative review is it appears the original devs sold the game to another company, and there has been nothing since then in the way of new content or gameplay. With the price remaining sort of high, I would only recommend this if it goes on sale, or if the new owners of the game actually plan on putting out new content/gameplay.
The ship breaking is fun, very interesting, the tools are cool and the concept is great. But the story is so immersion breaking and annoying to deal with. Every few shifts you come back to the HAB, and you have to sit through multiple minutes of dialogue while staring at an unmoving screen, doing nothing, waiting for the game to progress. I get it, you want a story mode, you want there to be narrative to the progress. But IMO, put it in the background like the dialogue when you start a shift. I'm here to play the game, not stare at a terminal.
Playing since Early Access and restarted after 1.0, this was a very good time. The variance of ships to carve up is relatively good, but they do tend to feel a bit samey at some point. The player's options are pretty limited for a while so sometimes you will have to just eat the cost of a mistake. Overall the game itself is rather good, and a pretty chill time. The campaign is where I have more of a love/hate problem. While this story has the best representation of how a union forms and the direct action that follows, it really deflated my motivation to continue once they introduce the middle management character into the mix. The first couple of hours of the campaign is an exciting experience to learn the ropes and unlock new ships to figure out how to disassemble safely with a bit of cynical capitalism thrown in. Once Act II rolls around and Hal shows his ugly face, this game actually becomes another job. Every excursion becomes a slog and it finally sinks in that you are stuck here just infinitely cutting and moving these parts for peanuts. I know that this is the point and this is basically what we are all dealing with in reality, but I'm here for a bit of escapism. That might speak to the testament as to how well the writing works to invoke this feeling, but I very much would have liked a Hal-killing minigame at the end of the day.
Old Positive(sorta) Review: The gameplay loop is great, just wish it wasn't interspersed with such a bleeding heart leftoid storyline. It just has to shove its little whiny points in all the time and breaks up the game by forcing you to listen to why modern day earth is bad and blah blah blah. Lemme cut ships. I love a story, but it has to be a good story, yknow? Telling me why I hate playing the game is just blatantly a stupid choice, but if you can get past the unlikable characters who refuse to shut up and the devs who apparently didn't know how to play to their audience, everything about the gameplay itself is superb. Edit: 3 more hours in and I want to shove every character into the furnace. Updated Negative Review: The gameplay loop is good IF you had ramping difficulty that followed the concept laid out at the initial quarter of the game. It starts out as a sort of puzzle game where you're trying to understand how to disassemble a ship without it blowing up in your face. Once you hit Javelin and Gecko class ships, it turns from precise cut points to having to use the fiddly and frustrating splitter beam and being told you lost value just because you played the game as you had to. It's truly great fun to have to cut the same thing two to three times just because the physics decided you didn't hit the part at exactly the right angle to totally sever the parts. Oh, what's that, you want to separate the coolant tank from the wall? Too bad! Cut the 30k credit pipe! Hold on, you can't get it out the door? Oops, time to try to make those cuts to remove the wall. And then you get to listen to Hal! YAY! Great concept, ruined by devs who can't listen to players.
The play loop is very monotonous. The NPC chatter is annoying and the storyline is weak. No way to skip past the NPC chatter. Looks cool but after doing a few ships, it got old fast. At least the attempt at humor in this game was not as bad as Breathedge.
A conceptually brilliant game, but the gameplay is fairly repetitive. Maybe that's just my experience, or perhaps I simply didn't make it far enough to reach the more interesting levels, but the gameplay often feels like a monotonous routine. The game tries to make you feel like you're at work, and in that regard it succeeds, but work isn't exactly fun.
Poor controller support always gets a negative review So do un-skip-able cutscenes and dialogues
Просто великолепно Невозможно оторваться История тоже присуствует Постепенная прогрессия
Mir gefällt es. Ein Hörbuch im Hintergrund laufen lassen und einfach effektiv Schiffe zerlegen, ein Spiel zum entspannen.
