fun
It keeps softlocking and not letting me step off the nutty squirrel's drug ride thing https://youtu.be/NUw_UISuYXk?t=1999 So I can't continue. Refunding it ig. The park visuals are really good but the gameplay would have been considered jank even in the oculus DK1 days
Fun, inventive game with some really heavy theming that's marred by a janky collision and movement system. The locomotion is nausea inducing and this is coming from someone that never gets sick in VR. WAYYYYY too much minigolf for my taste. Still, worth the cost if only to explore a non-Disney related Theme park.
Some jank aside, it's 10/10 for the
Tony Montana parrot
alone. Edit: I've now finished the game and it took me around 3 hours in total. Good scary fun!
There is jank and bugs but the environment made up for everything. It really makes you feel like you're in a evil dead disneyland.
I really never leave reviews, but this is probably the most fun I've ever had playing a horror game, ever. From the Disney parodies to the completely absurd story and gameplay, it was such a fun time all the way through. One of the biggest strengths is all the rides you go on, every one is a joy to experience and have a lot of detail in them. Every one was just absurd and I had lots of fun with it. The only downside some may say is the combat, it really does just come down to flailing and the animatronics aren't a threat, but honestly I don't mind it as it just contributes to the silliness of the whole thing. It's pretty fun to just wail on robots and knock their heads off, I wouldn't have it be anything other than that. Death isn't an issue either, as you immediately come back to life where you stand. No reloadng, no checkpoints, just "you died... okay, that's over, get back to the game" and honestly more games need to do that, lol. It really keeps things moving. Highly reccomend if you're looking for a low stakes and enjoyable horror game to play in VR, you won't regret it. This may be my last VR game I ever play as my headset broke after Windows updated and removed WMR, so I'm glad this was the last one I played.
I enjoyed every second of this game. The story was very entertaining, as was the sense of dark humor and the graphics were pretty great as well. The atmosphere of this game was more than worth overlooking any less than optimal VR mechanics (see below re: combat and mini golf.) Every time I passed through another entryway I was in awe of scenery around me. I didn't want to stop playing and felt the game was easily worth the asking price. If you are prone to motion sickness, be sure to turn the vignette on anytime you get onto a ride (the option to do so automatically popped up for me at the beginning of each ride). I noticed some negative review mentioning the lack of smooth locomotion, smooth turning options and a less than accessible menu, but those issues must have been fixed in some patch at some point because the menu is easily accessible with one button click, and both those locomotion options are available. I also did not have the problem of items (like weapons and flashlights) flying/bouncing off when I sat them down, although occasionally they would disappear if I walked away from them for too long. My only complaints are the mini golf physics and the combat. I enjoyed the "camera flash" style combat, but the melee just felt like repetitive swinging through thin air in the general direction of their heads and patiently waiting for them to die. But I was in this game for the overall experience, the atmosphere, graphics and story line. And there it definitely delivered.
The idea is great. The story and dialogues are funny. But graphics and overall presentation is not good enough to recommend this game. The game also made me motion sick, especially during the end. It's due to the coaster rides, when the coaster itselfs turns you around. I normally don't get motion sick in VR games. Also the game is pretty short. It took me just 2.6 hours to finish the game.
Disney company WISHES they could have as much imagination as this single developer has. Fantastic game, lots of fun, hidden gem. Negative reviews are bogus. Played through it twice, used the Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro with ALVR. Worked great on both. Ran into one bug that glitched me passed the King Kong ride on my first playthrough. How about an option to ride the rides again without having to go through the entire game? Really hope Rob makes another theme park to visit. Well done!
Dark rides and VR are the perfect pairing, and Spectral Illusions have brought some of my favorite childhood nostalgia to life (or in this case, death?) with this amazing package. Every single turn through the park is intact, from the Dapper Dan shop to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride… but on acid! This adventure is ridiculous fun, and I really, REALLY appreciate the labor of love that went into this. Keep the content coming, guys!
