A very good and faithful remake to an old game who's first remaster was... awful.
Buyer beware: the game will apparently sometimes not close if you Alt+F4 and continue to register with Steam as if it's being played. In case you're hoping to refund within the 2 hour playtime window. Tried to explain the situation and the refund was denied. Enjoy that moolah, Microslop. Review? I only played Pillar and Halo, and I can say this is a confused mess. The music has been completely untouched. Late 90s MIDI strings and all. The sound design is weak and lacks punch. Warthogs feel too heavy. Master Chief feels too light. Where the original sandbox had you wanting the sometimes-rare pistol and abandoning the assault rifle as soon as possible, the new sandbox had me WANTING to keep the assault rifle. The standard boring assault rifle. The visual clarity of the original game is gone, marred by muddy color palettes, indistinguishable enemy silhouettes, and volumetrics. Weapon hit markers are a terrible "fix." Marines feel soulless and rarely say anything outside of scripted events. They'll often shoot you trying to go ape on a corpse. "Fixed" by just defaulting to no friendly fire. This development team couldn't even settle on a framerate for prerendered cutscenes and inexplicably bounces between 30 and 29.97 for different cutscenes. The Lekgolo Spartan skin is pretty cool, though. Definitely worth it in a game I don't want to play.

The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I had a genuinely fun time playing this game. Sure, it had a rough launch, despite that however, I really enjoyed my experience. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay feels smooth and the combat is still as fun as ever. There are still a few choppy moments here and there though. None of which ruined the experience for me. I would definitely recommend giving this game a chance.
Really fun. Feels pretty faithful to the original so far.
I'm running the game on Bazzite Linux through Proton 11. While the Microslop account login stuff was annoying, the game has, thus far, run absolutely flawlessly. I personally haven't gotten any errors with the game starting up due to the artbook DLC, nor have I been getting constant random bugs or crashes that some other people are reporting. it might ironically be a Windows 11 issue, which would be hilarious if Microslop's own brand new remake of their flagship franchise runs better on a competing operating system. While the game seems technically sound (at least on Linux) I do think it's a shame that split-screen was ONCE AGAIN omitted for the PC release of a Halo game specifically. They do know that PCs can support multiple controllers at once, right? They bothered to add both Xbox and Dualsense controller support to this PC port so they MUST know, right? It's not like $50 minimum for a remake of ONLY the campaign (and a few bonus missions) isn't asking a lot from each and every player who doesn't have (or doesn't want) to play on console, right? It's annoying. If you're not going to give us split-screen on PC then at least allow us Nintendo Switch Pro/Dualsense/Steam Controller players to have access to simultaneous gamepad and mouse inputs for analog control and gyro aim via mouse input. As for other thoughts... Uuuuuhhhhh... Forced FSR is annoying and makes the game less visually clear in darker environments like the first level, and if you think sprint "ruins" this game you need to grow up and get over yourself. :) Would I recommend Campaign Evolved? If you're not unhealthily attached to the idea of this remake needing to be 1:1 the same as the original (just play the original at that point, it's not like it's hard to access) and you have more than one but less than four friends to drag along for the ride, then sure. Maybe wait for a sale though because $50 is a bit steep for everyone to have to pitch in if they're all on PC.
This was a good remake and honestly had a blast on it with a friend. Everything the game is missing makes me feel like I'm back in the good old days of being a child and playing Halo on the original Xbox with my Madcats controller and 256mb memory stick slotted in it. People who are hating this game are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, crying, whining, and moaning over the littlest of things and or for the clout, drama, temporary self gratification, to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and or for money as a content creator who can't do a real job 9-5 for 5+ days a week with overtime and yet cry about how hard content making is. This brought me back to nostalgia and also the lovely bonus of added lore, things that make sense in the Halo world to exist at the time, legendary was at times on Halo 2 OG hard, the old lore of the ODST bad blood with Spartans, and much much more. As someone who played this ever since I was a tiny thing, I would recommend this game hands down to any of my friends. It was easy to link my account, it was easy to get into a game with my friend, I ran everything on ultra on 1080p with DLSS/XeSS, Vsync, and nearly everything on with capped 60 fps and barely ever dropped below 50 FPS and often was at 60-100+ I have an i5 9600k and 2080ti currently. It ran very well. A game that said it shouldn't run like this, but did. No matchmaking was good. I don't need some random idiots to play with. I prefer my friends and those I can chill with. If you got none, well... Tough. Go make some. Sprint, I was gonna hate but... Seeing the levels remade in areas and how they felt bigger now was nice and so I kept it on and it played just like OG Halo still. The sheer number of f'kin Ultras though on legendary was mind boggling. Only saw maybe 5-7 minors and the rest were majors, mainly ultra, and higher. If I had another 2 with me and mythic on? Ha... ha ha... No thnx. Not until I want to actually cause suffering to myself :) The game is great. And I can't wait for the second- Iykyk. The environment and art though was freaking amazing on the Pillar and Maw. Yet alone Halo and Truth and Reconciliation, on how empty they felt back then. The Forerunner stuff was well made and kept the balance that the Halo Anniversary didn't. Hands down, just a great experience and had a hell of a blast with it once more after 25 years. Edit: On the AI part... I had a golden elite jump onto my wraith and try stabbing me in the turret. I've had a trio of spec ops elites hunt down my friend and I. I have had enemy AI actively push me many many times and when I or my friend went down the AI swarmed the last alive. The AI in this was so much more competent that the Halo CE AI and by far was like the Halo 2 Legendary AI but with more fluidity and more aggression and push. They were not happy... Anyone saying this plays like Infinite have never played the old games and sunk time into them over the years. We have the skulls for a reason as well. This game was not a 1 to 1 remake but I'd give it a .9 to 1 remake with how it felt refreshed and enjoyable. Halo 2 Remake! Now! Gimme! Bring best Halo back! Not Anniversary! (tho its a great Halo 2 anni.) >:C
This really is a throwback to my childhood. It may not have been the first Halo I ever played but I've still got a lot of memories with this one. The remake brought all that back. Whether playing by myself or with my squad it embodies the original perfectly. A few bugs here and there which is to be expected, framerate drops (as of 20th Aug 2026) do irritate but are easily overlooked when playing with others. Only complaint is a large part of the expectations for this game were the prequel missions with Chief and Johnson. I found them lacking in content that the fan-base were wanting from them to establish in an interactable media format. Overall though, I love this game and look forward to the further Remakes of the series. 7.5/10
VF atroce réalisée par IA et absence de mode multijoueur. Pour un jeu à 60€, c'est particulièrement honteux.
Personally I have been enjoying my revisit to Installation 04. The game feels like what a halo game should. I would recommend possibly waiting for a sale if you're not a die hard Halo fan or don't have people to play co-op with. Remix mode and the co-op are where this new version shines, providing fun new experiences for veteran players.
