Half-Life: Alyx

Лучшая VR игра.

I have been waiting for a next gen HL game for over 2 decades and when HL Alyx came, had to get a better setup. Now that I finally played HLA, this review has to be a 2 parter, one for the game one for the engine. The game: It's completely different, yet it's Half-Life, the visuals and sound are absolutely stunning, pacing is perfect as you get to explore all the minute detail and it explains a lot about the HL lore in never before seen detail. I would say HLA is a perfect prequel every HL fan must play at least once to understand the HL universe better and what to expect from HL3 in addition it solves a cliffhanger left from the end of HL2 EP2. On another note I unexpectedly got really strong Prey 2006 game vibes in this especially at the ending chapter, it's been ages since any game reminded me of that one and IMHO it's a good thing HL has shifted to the visual and audio the way it did, meaning HL3 will be a lot more enjoyable. If you haven't played this yet, you must if you are a HL fan, else it's a good VR play even without VR (mods) Now the engine: Why does this need a separate portion of the review? Because Source 2 has come a LONG way and it is amazing, perfect visuals and unmatched audio processing, exceptional optimization (ran Ultra smooth 144 frames on my Katana 17 gaming laptop) and it offers so much other engines don't. It feels coded properly and not just copy and pasted with assets bought from a store (unreal engine of which I am sick and tired) I only wish there were more games on this engine and better yet a proper milsim fps, it would of been amazing. Maybe some day. Other than that VALVE did an amazing job and once again proved even though a corporation, they're still a game dev at heart. Looking forward to HL3, and yes after playing HLA which feels like a prequel I am sure it's coming.
