This game had a TON of potential but it's just terrible. Even with the detailed tutorial it still is really confusing figuring out what you can do. The interface needs to be streamlined with your choices and the tutorial robot needs to be there for the entire game really. The early game is brutal YOu just die and die and die. It's so hard to even figure out how to do simple things.
Cool game but the battles are waaaay too repetitive, tedious and numerous to make playing the game feel like anything but a slog. This game desperately needed either a tweak in the amount of enemy battles right out of the gate or an auto combat function that quickly plays out battles based on your predetermined choices. Maybe good for kids and teens who have endless hours to dump into fighting the same battle 100 times before getting to the next progression beat.
It's combat is simple enough to get yet complicated enough to get REALLY tactical with it. After owning the game for years, it's still fun to go back and play again.
I've had this combo of XCOM (you have teams of soldiers you send a round a map under a time limit) and Star Trek/Babylon 5 (your main base of operations is a starbase in space, you send teams of greenshirts to different planets who mostly die horribly lol) on my Steam account for a while and finally got around to playing it. It was alright--I beat it on the third highest difficulty in about three days and 18.6 hours, so its not too substantial and thus I'm not leaving a lengthy review. But the pixel graphics were nice, the humor is pleasant enough, though some may find it grating, and it kept me occupied for all those hours, so I'll recommend it. However, its somewhat poorly balanced, IMO: The strategic side is pretty easy, I had essentially unlimited resources by the end of the second in-game chapter, while the final boss is the closest thing to a real challenge I had. And this was on the third-highest difficulty, mind you. Also, you should have an option to disable notifications for the repeating tasks you can set on your starbase, it's ridiculous they didn't think of that. But I got nearly 20 hours worth of fun outta this, so like I said, I'll recommend it.
It's cute, it's fun, it's XCOM meets Advance Wars in space. And unlike XCOM, you can make mistakes and recover from them. If you made one wrong move in XCOM the whole mission was ruined and possibly your whole playthrough. This game is more forgiving.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAASE IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE A little open-ended for my taste, but the combats are satisfying and the strategy layer is compelling. 9/10
Awesome game
Decent game with a few different elements to keep it entertaining, one playthrough was enough for me.
It's not bad! But it offers very little of value, and that's why I don't recommend it. If you are having space withdrawals and just want a quick hit, you could do worse but the turn based Pokemon combat slows down the whole game. The peace is uneven, you struggle with getting new officers early on, managing fleets is clunky, no way to build up defences or harden your space. Just endless send your fleet/fleets out to do some tasks.
