Hades II is a top-down action slasher and roguelike. The story picks up with the Greek underworld in total chaos: Chronos (Grandpa Time) broke free, beat up Hades, and took over. Now, as Hades' daughter Melinoë, you have to wage war against your senile grandfather to rescue your family. [b]Fun fact:[/b] While the lore stays strictly within Greek mythology, Supergiant's signature stylized art is so wildly vibrant and detailed that it almost feels like a brand-new pantheon of its own! [b]The Short Answer: Is It Worth Buying?[/b] If you enjoyed the first Hades, then absolutely yes. However, if you aren't already a fan of the genre, it probably won't change your mind. [b]Playtime[/b] 4/10 Around 20–30 hours to go through all available narrative content and character dialogues in its current state. If you plan on pushing high Heat/Pact modifiers and completing every challenge, add at least another 30 hours to that count. [b]Story[/b] 5/10 Chronos overthrowing Hades sets off a underworld family feud where Melinoë must fight her way through time to stop her titan grandfather. [b]Music[/b] 7/10 Very pleasant and easily matches the quality of the first game. While the tracks might not immediately stand out as unforgettable individual songs, they blend seamlessly into the gameplay and never get wearing or annoying over long sessions. [b]Graphics[/b] 7/10 Gorgeous, highly stylized mythic art direction. [b]Mechanics[/b] 6/10 The meta-progression features cool crafting systems that advance based on run attempts. On the flip side, the mid-run resource extraction mechanics (like bringing specific gathering tools to harvest nodes during combat runs) felt pretty tedious and weak. Weapon design, however, is a huge win—each weapon feels completely distinct with unique rhythms, ranges, and attack properties. [b]Personal Take[/b] A very solid continuation of a great title (which I originally enjoyed playing on the Switch). It's built perfectly for bite-sized 20-to-30-minute runs where you can hop in, mix and match different god boons for entirely unique builds, and jump right back out. While the narrative progression currently feels like it needs a bit more meat on its bones, the visual presentation and character art remain top-tier. [b]Overall Score:[/b] 71/100
