Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Aug 7 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
I played this game originally on the PS2 way back when it came out, and I loved it. Now that I'm older, the story is just plain bad, and cutscenes are long winded. The gameplay, exploration, combat, and graphics hold up really well and the music is fantastic and carries the whole game. I still love this game, but skip the cutscenes, the story sucks.
its got a good story but its extremely tedious and the combat is very repetitive. I stopped playing at volume 2 it just isnt good combat and has a lot of cut scenes and tedious log in's and out's. but what made me put it down was the horrible but incredibly easy combat

The story was great and the gameplay for the most part was enjoyable, I did find some of the fights with the Avatar quite annoying.
Usah lah main aja ini bagus kok :)
Before this I had only played through the first 4 games on PS2 (IMOQ) and Versus. I had always played for like an hour or two of this series and put it down since I knew it would be a big time investment per game. Now with all the hype surrounding the new upcoming game .hack//ZERO I thought it would be about time to get back into this for real, and I'm glad I finally did. Playing through G.U. definitely made me appreciate the series as a whole more, and I'm excited to see how CyberConnect2 will continue to develop upon what they've built up with the series so far. Mechanically this game is a much more streamlined experience than the first series on PS2, the combat is way easier and more intuitive and leveling is decently paced. I was able to progress through the story pretty easily without doing much more than just the side quests made available. Didn't have to spend countless hours fighting Data Bugs going in and out of menus for skills just to get Virus Cores to move on to the next story segment, like the first series. Speaking of which, the equivalent mechanic to that, Avatar Battles, are actually fun and interesting considering the lore behind most of them. Each of the original Volumes (1-3) is about 20ish hours long, just focusing on the main story, reading everything, and doing most of the side quests. The story is great as always, heavily enriched by all the side content in the message boards, and had plenty of really funny moments. They truly add to the feeling of these games being populated with real people outside of The World, if you're not familiar with the first series this is a staple of the games and G.U. does it probably the best of the series. Last Recode also includes a Terminal Disc you can view before and in between each of the Volumes of the game to unlock and get more background story about events happening surrounding it told from another perspective. Along with the Terminal Disc there's a great Parody Mode where you watch redubbed scenes from throughout the story with some pretty funny skits. Visually the game is certainly an upgrade over the original releases on PS2, while maintaining a pretty timeless style and aesthetic in it's special effects and world design. The first 3 Volumes include a few (very short) character animation cutscenes that weren't present in the originals and everything benefits from the QOL features added. The 4th Volume of the game is exclusive to Last Recode, and is more of an "Expansion" to the story of G.U. than the other 3 Volumes. The story is about a third of the length and lacks most of the features of the other games, mainly existing to provide some very kickass cutscenes and a version of The World to continue to play in with a few new tools and graphical polish that Vol 1-3 didn't get. Absolutely still worth playing through at least just to get the remainder of the story; considering G.U. came out in 2006 and Last Recode/Volume 4 came out 11 years later in 2017. Whether you're a fan of the series or you're just interested but don't know where to start; I'd say this is a great entry in the series to play through. The anime .hack//ROOTS leads directly into the events of these games if you wanna go that route, and other wise all of the information you need is contained within the game itself, with more existing in other places if you feel like looking. PS: One thing I will note, the game didn't like me using my Dualsense controller and insisted on showing Xbox button glyphs for everything, so I was forced to play this game using a Playstation button mod and program called Special K to launch and play the game with controls I was more comfortable with. Would have loved to had some original controller support or at least the option to choose what kind of buttons are displayed.
desde que salio en PS2 lo jugue y sigue siendo genial, tanto su trama como sus mecanicas
Great Classic and very re-playable
