Honestly, the title theme deserves recommendation on its own. The game's fun too but there are some amateurish game design decisions clearly on display (at least so far as I got).
A very promising game, be it story, gameplay or art. The difficulty is reasonable and there are a fair bit of different potential viable builds. Coupled with different decisions one can make in the story, the game has plenty of replay potential. Going by the steady progress the devs made since EA start, this game will likely be my GOTY 2026.
I've always been a fan of JRPGs. Also there's something about the anime-ish faces and pixelated graphics that makes it easy on the eyes for me which makes playing the game a very relaxing experience. The last game that made me feel this way was RDR2. Hopefully this game gets the traction that I believe it deserves. Some more explanations on the game if it helps: - Combat: turn based and very simple. I'll give this a 9 out of 10. It would've been 10 if the indicators on where to walk was a little bit simpler or easier to follow; I also noticed that staff/any ranged weapons can only attack in a straight line which doesn't feel right to me so I hope that's changed in the future. - Character Mechanics (if that's what it's called): I love the customization and the potential of being whatever you want to be in this game. You can be a thief that has some skill with your desired school of magic or a paladin via investing points in warrior and cleric. 10 out of 10 for me. - Story: I've yet to finish the game but I've put out 10 hours (4 of those were from my first night) and it's been great. Honestly could use some improvement but maybe there's more to find out. I'm already impressed around Gladeheim. Maybe there's more when I reach new locations. 8/10. Top of my head that's it. I'll maybe update once I get further into the game.
Review of ver 0.7.x. I highly recommend this game. Even though it's EA there is a lot of content already. I'm amazed by the story and writing which IMO is better then most of AAA games. Characters are great, quests are fun. Some reviewers are complaining about story, that it's linear. I disagree with that, it is linear in the sense that you are moving towards specific goal, and there is set of conditions you need to fulfill. Other than that it's far from the worst RPGs I've played. There are some technical issues (obviously), I would say that most annoying are UI issues, e.g. non visible tabs on character screen, some overlay for the grid wouldn't hurt. Also there are some problems with inventory (e.g. half of my inventory is not loaded when I'm in the shop). But I think that devs are aware of these issues and they will solve them. If someone likes tactical RPGs and pixel art (which is great here) - I'd say give it a shot. Also I really hope that the game gets more recognition and marketing, I learned about it by accident and I'm glad I did.
Exhausted all of the content in the game. Got all the achievements. There are some bugs, still of course, but I understand because it's still in Early Access. I'm looking forward to the development of this game. This game is really taking me back with my first playthrough with Baldur's Gate 3. Just some recommendations on the QoL of the game, add a Tooltip or Guide for how can certain elements work with each other. I saw that there is a talent for Rogue where when you are enshrouded you get guaranteed critical strikes, but through my research there is no element reaction or skill to trigger an "Shrouded" Status, only some specific enemies later in the game has it. That's pretty much it. Love the game, hoping to see more!
Yes, huge potential
yeah is good, the pixel art is fantastic, animation is fluid, not much to see for exploring still on early access
