Total opposition to changing the contract without the players being able to refuse. I do not agree with your new conditions. I do not agree with the obligation to constantly check what you have changed in the contract. and it's completely crazy that I have to keep checking, and it's my duty to keep track of what you've changed in the contract, otherwise I automatically agree to it. Is gaming supposed to be my job? How dare you make such changes without any information about it. "13. Overall, "A Game of Dwarves" is a wonderfully in-depth strategy game. If you like designing underground towns and being in a Dwarven fortress then this game is for you. The game has tons of replay value due to the size of the maps and the vast array of different objects you can build. Despite how complex it might all seem, it uses humor to keep things light and entertaining. There are occasions where the AI did some pretty odd things and sometimes the Dwarves needed that extra micromanagement push to get things done, but in the grand scheme of things, I had a blast. I believe it to be worth its current price tag of 9.99 and then some, especially if you're someone who got a lot of mileage out of games like "Dwarf Fortress" and "Dungeon Keeper." I've been waiting for a game like this ever since "Dungeons" lost its appeal, and I'm pleased to say that I wasn't disappointed. However, this isn't a game for those who are easily pulled away by strategy titles and lack the trait of patience. The game is short in length however the challenge and its overall difficulty could easily cost you atleast some days until you complete it.
Though some levels are restrictive in how you make progress, this is a charming game that I have become addicted to.
"A Game of Dwarves" is an ancient game from 2012. It's a whopping 12 years old at the time of this review. While the game does run okay even on modern PCs, it is starting to show some age and the graphics look dated. The game carries a pretty high price tag for such an old game. This seems to have be lingering on Steam with an inflated price to try profit from abandonware. As a game, well, think of a slightly dumbed down hybrid of Dwarf Fortress and Dungeon Keeper... and given there's a very nice commercial release of Dwarf Fortress on Steam, this 12 year old (and still somewhat clunky) ripoff is a hard sell. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. The game features low-polygon "retro" assets with cartoony, mobile app style shader effects, making this look like a barely functional mobile app from 15 years ago. This visual style is a method that lazy devs often use when they have a lack of interest/capabilty to create highly detailed, high poly models and instead use shader effects to disguise that shortcoming under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. It's unclear why the developers weren't willing to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets and high resolution textures for the game. It's far below the state of the art visuals gamers expect as a result of their decisions. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "A Game of Dwarves" is relatively expensive for an abandonware nostalgia gouge, at $10 USD, and it's not worth it. The game is just too old, hasn't been modernised. And as the old saying goes, you can't go home again. For comparison, the $10 asking price for this game could get you games like "Mass Effect Trilogy Pack", "Middle Earth - Shadow of War" or "Wolfenstein - The New Order". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.

----------------------------- Dwarf simulator in the style where you don't directly control the characters, but give them an order of what to do and they do it when they need to (literally, sometimes they don't do it right away). Each level has an objective and after finishing each one you start all over again (or almost) in another level. Mechanically the game is simpler than other similar games and the graphics are ok for a 3D game from 2012. Unfortunately the game was kind of abandoned with some bugs it seems (I didn't find anything serious, but from the comments there are things that force you to start the levels over), but it's still playable if you have patience and really like this style of game. What put me off about the game was the monotony, this game is VERY slow, when you tell a dwarf to interact with an object it stops 3 times!!! times to drink beer in front of the object, this took about 40 seconds (WITH THE GAME SPEED UP!), honestly I don't have the patience for this, but it's my thing, if you don't mind this kind of thing, maybe you can give the game a chance.
To be honest, it was pretty bad when it first came out and time has done it no favours. I just did one last push to get the achievements I was missing, and it was a miserable experience. There are several block building simulators to choose from that are just better than this in almost every way. My recommendation is to save your time and your money, and avoid this game altogether.
:)
It's enjoyable, the stories decent. Wouldn't mind a remaster some day.
