Grid Masters is a case of giving a game a second opportunity. The first time I played the game it was under the provision of a single player game. The game, after all, does include that mode. I didn't enjoy myself. The game was too simple and not deep enough for my liking. It just didn't offer enough gameplay value to me as a single player game. I was almost ready to write a scathing review about a game that simply shouldn't have been released. And while I still feel that the single player game is lacking - and not for a lack of trying from the developer and admittedly there is room for growth - it was under the advisement of a friend that I gave the game a second chance to woo me over as a multiplayer game. This game was intentionally designed to be played as a multiplayer game either on a couch or online. If you are hoping for a deeply engrossing single player experience you'll likely be left disappointed as I was. However, as a couch game with buddies or hosting your own games via the game's online set up you've got a far greater likelihood of finding hours of entertainment and joy in the title. Grid Masters works as a strategic action game played between factions. You need to carefully consider your position in your twelve slot grid. You are given powers that have different areas of effect and behave in different ways. Each character has their own set of powers. There are, as of writing, five characters with more to come. The game is heavily dependent upon strategy and button mashing will only work when you're playing someone who doesn't understand the game. I'd like to see some story and character backgrounds provided because although the game can be fun I don't have a reason to care about any of them. That would be my largest request at this stage of development. I'm interested in seeing how development progresses along in this regard as well as the addition of the other characters. There is a lot of scope for improvement. As an Early Access game there is a lot of development left in order for the game's potential to be fulfilled. However, it is in a playable state and is entertaining when played with friends. For more reviews and our popular giveaways visit Steamified.
I'm rewritting this review. The game is dead with no word from the devs for over half a year. I knew the artist of the game and it seems like they're not working on it anymore.
I found it pretty bad... Like a butchered version of Megaman Battle Network's battle system with non of the charm.
Nota Xepa: 2/10
Dead as a rock, with no updates since 2017, nor was there an announcement of any hiatus. Shouldn't even be up for sale anymore really.
I love this game and find it highly competitive so if your looking for a "Battle Network" esq game then this is a great ting to play with your friends. But i hav not tryed playing 4v4 yet but i think the utter chaos would be amazing. This game is good and the developers love it and are passionate about it. It is worth the price.
OH MAN
Awesome devs, if you liked Battle Network it def scratches that itch.
Super unique and fun game! I remember when I first saw this game at SiegeCon, I was blown away. I'm pretty bad at all the characters except for spamming the quick move with Malaya, but! It's still a fun game to play casually. The music is especially poppin. Also! If you care about this, the gender balance of characters is really good!
