polish mate got me this, i thought the controls were in polish at first but it's a great game after u get used to them

Готика - это та самая легендарная классика, которая не стареет душой. там особая, мрачная атмосфера, мир реально живет своей жизнью, а квесты затягивают так, что забываешь поесть. И самое крутое это что ты здесь не какой-то избранный спаситель, а обычный мужик, который с нуля пробивает себе дорогу в этом суровом мире. Именно поэтому каждая победа ощущается по настоящему весомой. Игра цепляет на эмоциональном уровне и до сих пор даёт фору многим новинкам. Спустя годы она всё ещё в строю, но концовка расстроила, что так и не дали сразиться с демоном по имени Спящий.

I played this first when it released in 2001 and was purely wow-ed by it. The world felt mysterious and (almost) endless. Replayed it in 2025 with Community Mods for a bit of QOL and a fresh paint and besides the nostalgia, I completely sunk into the world of Gothic again. This holds up so well as it is just a bit of its own thing. I like its jankiness for what it is, I rather see it as eccentricity. This is, what makes it so timeless for me - the controls, the feeling of progression, the rich world and the characters. Works great on Steam Deck with mods.

Beste Story der Reihe, nur am Ende fehlts ein bisschen aber trotzdessen Güldisch!

Русский Готика 1 пожалуй остается одной из лучших симуляторов средневековья и лучшая часть во всей франшизе Готики. Однозначно рекомендую к покупке, моя оценка 9/10 так как здесь уже устаревшая графика, но не смотря на то что игре уже 25 лет она до сих пор остается годной. English: Gothic 1 is probably one of the best medieval simulation games and the best part of the entire Gothic franchise. I definitely recommend it, my rating is 9/10 because the graphics are outdated, but even though the game is 25 years old, it's still good.
