Not as good as Dominions but a solid 7/10: It is Dominions very/semi-light with a slight QoL upgrade. Explore Expand Exterminate Expunge Ex-sanguinate Yeah ok. It is more about kill kill kill than any really deep strategic level of gameplay. Play every faction once against the AI then your next step to get anything else out of the game is multiplayer. This is where I think it would shine. Because, vs AI, all you are doing is figuring out which units to stack and pump them out of your city til you have a death stack and go stomp the capitals. For instance as Khaosate, get the yellow 2 reach cleaving hero units that have a high regen and stack flying stunner range critters and summon stun dogs. As Mercia, park your boss and pump out Red Dragons and find some Mountain Giant Lairs and recruit them. So, figure out your killer units and wipe the map. Rinse repeat with each faction. Formulaic. BUT it's so much fun finding that out. HOWEVER, if you have played Dominions you are always wondering how much better this game could be if you had its level of army customisability. This game plonks your cav behind infantry sometimes and they never get out of the block form the start of a fight. In Dominions you can put all your inf on a narrow centre front and then place your cav on the wings with seperate script orders to charge the back line of archers. Grrrrrr. Dominions really is better.
As a big fan of CoE4 I jumped into the game as soon as I spot it. It does carry the same x4 strategy + roguelike feel I liked in Elysium, and potentually, this game can be even better then CoE with high activity of the devs we have right now and all the grathic improvements. Pretty decent bit of fractions and incarnations are already implemented, and biggest bugs are fixed, so you can have a good fun trying to figure out the best combinations of troops, best nation+incarnation combos and pick your favorite rituals, easily getting double digit number of hours ingame, and maybe handreds then they add multiplayer (lack of it is my biggest issue with the game rn). But if you exclusively into singleplayer and don't mind the type of strategy games where you don't have a campaign, then, there might be something for you already.
Overall I like this game, and I think if you like the Conquest of Elysium series of games, you'll probably like it too. I'm mainly writing this to explain what I think are the biggest differences between the two games, aside from the visuals. Godking has WAY LESS micromanagement. You don't spend 90% of the game retaking your settlements from marauding wildlife. On that front, the game is much more enjoyable. However (and this might be subject to change because it is still early access) from what I've seen CoE has much more to offer in terms of late goals. CoE has late game summons and spells that you can shoot for that can change how your faction plays the game, and give you an edge you wouldn't otherwise have. Godking doesn't seem to have that. It doesn't take too much effort to get to the late game recruit/summons and it doesn't really mix up your gameplay that much; its just more and stronger of the same. Overall I enjoy both games. CoE for all the of the crazy depth and potential, and Godking because it scratches the same itch but doesn't make it feel like the game is a second job where you have to go around annoying neutral spawns until the game ends.
Cool game. My caster even summoned a red dragon to fight and its awesome. Differences between this game and Illwinter's Conquest of the Elysium 4: 1) Better and smoother graphics and its in 3D 2) More planes in COE4; and AFAIK its only one plane; but I am only 2 hours in for a quick demo. 3) There may be friendly troops that will be willing to join and help your team out. 4) No way to customize the map generation AFAIK . 5) No naval combat? Still I hope this is because its just early beta. 6) It would be nice if there are quests available like in Endless Legend, which are different for each faction.
Came here because I loved CoE 4 and 5 and thought a 3D one would be so cool. Sadly, it has a worse UI than even the earlier CoE games, and it is no longer being worked on, not to mention it is so poorly optimized that it is hard to even play. Save your money and look elsewhere (or play CoE 5)
Its not that bad. But PLUS * copy conquest of elysum (from illwinter) but 3d * intresting variety in units and factions. * lots of potential MINUS * absolutely bad optimization. 5 and something Gb in RAM. * bad interface. Cannot put units on constant cast the same spell. Not easy to select units or cities. * Balance is horrible. Played as humans and recruiting mages, you can make them produce mana for free (with a nighmare micro each turn) and summon dragons en masse. * AI is plain dumb * I read in the forum that devs are not supporting this anymore
I think this is one of the best support and follow up a dev has been giving to me during EA. Sensiga studio cares about the players and really are listening to them. The game has been consequently improve with every patches, introducing requested QoL and features that make this game a really good 4X. Even though you do not have a total control on combats, you will learn very quickly that strategy matters more than the tactics and than your armies composition and your Generals choices matters a lot. I like this game for what it is . It is unique and well done. You can really feel the love and passion from Sensiga. And it matters a lot.
One of the best Early Access right now! Lot of stuff, always improving...oh and awesome Game too xD If you love Strategy, give this one a chance :)
A fun game the has similarities to conquest of elysium, gladius and warlock. The main focus is on army building, with combat being automated. Currently there aren't many options to influence a fight beyond army compesition but that may change based on players feedback. There are currently 7 playable races with more planned. There are alot of varied items that you can gain by looting chests and defeating neutrals. One nice touch is that any unit can be equipped with items, not just the commanders. The first phase of the game is mainly geared towards grabbing as many independant buildings as you can while taking as few losses as possible clearing out the neutral armies defending them and removing any nearby roaming neutral armies. There is very little base building, upgrades can be added to some existing buildings (as well as your capital). The second phase is taking on the other players, small forces raid and harass while the larger ones take on the enemies fortified buildings. The game is in EA but the developers are adding improvements regularly and happy to listen to feedback and suggestions. My only dislike is the lack of multiplayer, the devs say this will hopefully be added after the game has gone live.
THIS WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT. Sorta looked like Heroes meets 4x. And me and my chic love to get down on some old school might and magic 3. this seemed like a cool new alternate. this is literally card stack building on a simple map. there is almost nothing to it. no control over units in battle outside of however you arranged your card stack prior to movement/turn. if stack is large then the battle may end mid fight...so steam rolling is funky bc evidently theres a time limit per battle (no timer was visible/available to my knowledge). not much depth in regards to options for play. take this with a grain of salt bc: i also feel my position is a bit skewed bc of what i may have been anticipating HOWEVER my expectations came from their advertising so.... uninstalled after a few faction run-thrus. if you like strategic card stacking on a board with simple features and a casual 4x feel then this is a game for you.
