About
From Santa Monica Studio and brought to PC in partnership with Jetpack Interactive comes God of War Ragnarök, an epic and heartfelt journey that follows Kratos and Atreus as they struggle with holding on and letting go.
The sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War (2018), God of War Ragnarök picks up with Fimbulwinter well underway. Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as Odin’s forces in Asgard prepare for a prophesied battle that will end the world.
Along the way, they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. As the threat of Ragnarök grows ever closer, Kratos and Atreus must choose between the safety of their family and the safety of the realms.
Atreus seeks knowledge to help him understand the prophecy of “Loki” and establish his role in Ragnarök. Kratos must decide whether he will be chained by the fear of repeating his mistakes or break free of his past to be the father Atreus needs.
The Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Guardian Shield return alongside a host of new abilities for both Kratos and Atreus. Kratos’ deadly Spartan skills will be tested like never before as he battles gods and monsters across Nine Realms to protect his family.
Journey through dangerous and stunning landscapes as Kratos and Atreus search for answers.

First release was so much better. It feels like they cut a lot of corners with this one, some effects missing that the PS5 had which PC doesn't for example. Which I'm sure you'll agree is just WEIRD considering how PC has much better graphics elsewhere. Another example of mistakes is the reflections of the water scale horrifically with upscaling, you practically need to use DLAA to not ruin them (Or other vendor equivalent). Since I'm at 4K, you can imagine how intensive that is to do. Custom 90% DLSS input resolution was a suitable compromise. If they put half as much care as they did into the first God of War PC release, I'm sure it would've done much better. There is so much QoL they could've provided, such as an FOV slider for outside of cutscenes. The camera feels like it's parked on Kratos's baldass head (I'm exaggerating). Also the game tends to throw text tutorials at you so many times, it interrupts the immersion. And in some instances it requires perfection to get a lot of the blocks, parries, etc. correct. Setting the game to an easier difficulty doesn't really fix that, just makes the enemies easier to kill in general via health or less attacks, but those requirements for perfect parries still exist. Perhaps more of a skill issue here, but in that case, I'd like that aspect to be easier. I didn't generally find the game hard overall, just found those annoyances. Either way there is huge discrepancies in difficulty due to this. I feel a slider for different behaviors instead would've been better to tailor how the player wants. I.e. Aggression, health, parry reaction time I really didn't want to put don't recommend this game, but I can't recommend it either. There is no neutral button, so I guess since I can't stay in the game, I'm more inclined to not recommend it since I have to pick one.

Great game! Story is a bit more messy than 2018 but still has some good bits. Gameplay is great - gladly 100% this game and never got bored.

Pensei que não tinha como superar o God of War de 2018 Um dos melhores jogos que já joguei!
very good game
достойное продолжение)
It's more of God of War, you already know it's worth buying at full price. Story wise, it's not quite as tight as the first game, but the increase in scope more than makes up for it, the final act in particular is extremely good and is one of the more memorable final chapters in gaming. They have addressed the glaring lack of enemy variety that was in the first game, but in exchange, they've somehow made the enemy density feel absolutely ridiculous at times. Thankfully, this is mitigated by the fact that the combat is still as great as it has ever been. Strangely, this is also somehow performing better on Steam Deck than the 2018 release. Makes no sense to me, but I'll happily take it. I'd say this is just slightly better than the 2018 release thanks to the improvements in combat and story. All in all, this is a very strong final chapter to Krato's norse era. I am really looking forward to seeing what comes next.
