About
Gloomwood is a stealth horror FPS that follows your mysterious abduction to a forgotten, twisted Victorian metropolis in the midst of a horrifying transformation. Wield your canesword and take to the shadows as you uncover the accursed mystery hidden within the fog.
The producers of DUSK, AMID EVIL, ULTRAKILL and FAITH bring you a frightening, gothic immersive sim full of haunted streets, dark tunnels and decadent mansions.
An intricate, hand-crafted city with freeform exploration - from towering rooftops down to hidden passages, the routes you take and paths you make, are your choice.
A detailed stealth and sound system that tracks your light visibility and propagates noise accurately through the world. Tread lightly. Or prepare to get loud.
A unique arsenal to meet any situation - a stealthy canesword, six-shot revolver, folding shotgun, hand-placed traps, rope-slinging harpoon rifle and more.
In-depth player interactivity, from leaning to eavesdrop, peeking through door cracks, checking the bullets in your firearms and mantling onto ledges.
A mob of ghastly denizens and monsters with acute senses, like the sharp-clawed Crowmen and the fearsome, cadaver-seeking Corpse Duster.
Gloomwood is full of objects to pick up, throw, climb, smash and use to your advantage.
There is more to this city than you can possibly imagine...

So enjoyable! My favorite genres are immersive sims and CRPGS, and since ARKANE Studios got closed down with no hope of another Dishonored, it's fantastic to see more indie immersive sims coming out. Now if only Project Silverfish would update to support controllers! I can't wait until the full release of this game!
Ignore all the comparisons, this game is amazing in its own right. Gloomwood has the patina of an old game but it looks and plays way better. The controls are tight and everything has a handcrafted feeling. The lighting works very well with the game mechanics, from sneaking to puzzles it is all brilliantly used. Everything feels dialed-in, controller functions impressively well on this game, never experienced glitches or cheap enemies, every time I was caught or killed felt fair, never had any problems mantling. The brightness calibration lets you calibrate brightness, contrast, and gamma; as a result every object contrasts with every other object giving atmosphere and depth. The world feels organic and lived-in The difficulty curve feels good across the areas, enemies get trickier and often subvert you in unexpected ways. Each difficulty mode feels appropriate and there are nice visual differences as well This game had me staying up too late, thinking about it when Im doing other things, and even dreaming about it. So much fun to speed run!
Absolute peak. The storytelling and atmosphere are incredible and the game itself is very fun and creative.
This game glooms my wood Hurry up 1.0 already, will ya?
One of the best indie stealth games out here
so far i like what ive played. The interconected leves, the amount of ways u can solve a level is fun n the fact if u pay attetion enough u can skip some parts is so good. The save system here is interesting, whgile it does have an option to turn on quicksaves the default difficulty n option is not. instead u can only save at these phonographs, i like this system. In an interview with the dev its designed like this cause of making player experiment more even when getting caught, and while i think it does for me, i can see how it may not for other players. The inventory system being a case n having to manage the positions of objects is fun. The only complaint i have i guess is the research system? its still in EA so i cant fully comment on it, but i sort of didnt know n didnt use it in my 1st playthrough n it wasnt until i watched a vid that i used it. Still its great n i cant wait for The Bank.
I stole all of the Lord Kar's baked beans and I ate them in my GLOOMY lighthouse... And would do that again... Waiting for more levels. My Capra Serum'd belly crave more beans...
The game tells you what if Lovecraft had written "The Island of Dr. Moreau." Dark charming. Despite the stealth capabilities, playing at an average difficulty level can be played like a regular shooter, only occasionally attacking from the shadows. The disadvantage is that early access does not allow you to complete the game.
