Giana Sisters 2D is a pretty bad platformer. The character designs are cute and the soundtrack is peppy, but that's unfortunately where the positive points come to a screeching halt. It quickly becomes apparent just how one-note and basic the level design is, once you've played a couple levels you've seen all the game has to offer, including the boss! Because the game makes you fight the exact same boss with the exact same mechanics after each of the 8 worlds. The platforming ranges from piss easy to infuriatingly janky with bad hitboxes, pixel-perfect jumps, and half-baked gimmicks like the bubblegum that controls with all the finesse and presicion of a flying hippo on meth. The port itself is broken, lacking even basic options such as audio sliders. Enemies sometimes don't load in properly until you're on top of them. There is a bug that frequently loads in the wrong level. Sometimes you have to repeatedly go in and out of the map screen before it loads the correct one. There are far better platformers you could be playing instead of wasting your time on this dreg. I want my three hours back. 3/10, not even worth it on sale.
This is an insult to the original DS version. Its the old iPhone version of the game, with the same problems it had back in 2010, but with a wider screen to see them clearly.
I got twisted Dreams free and loved it. i am also a retro gamer. But seriously...no. This feels like a bad SMB clone that is as hollow as those easter chocolate rabbits. And it just falls apart as easy. it also can be annoying in that if you don't get the red crystals for the level.....do it all again. Go back to SMB instead. It is way older and way more fun. However, if you can get Twisted Dreams, that is a definite one to pick up. Edit: I am done with this. 95% of my deaths are due to poor ceiling placement when jumping. Levels repeat sometimes. This is such beginner level design...
Giana Sisters ... in optisch aufgehübscht. Old-School-Gameplay ... nette Musik ... nette Optik ... altbekannte Steuerung. Mehr gibt es nicht zu sagen. Neben dem Original eine klasse Sache. Von mir her Daumen hoch.
Think this was made by Black Forest Games? Guess again. it was done by Kasaa Solution, a company that seems to have vanished and subsequently abandoned a half baked port of DS, DS actually looks better and probably plays correctly, this game, was a joke, buggy enemies, buggy level design. Broken achievements, don't know how you can break a simple jump but they managed to do that as well. Get "Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams" and its sequel "Rise of the Owlverlord" instead, which outshines mario games in every way.
11 years after release and the game is still buggy and many achievements are still broken... yup, I would say it was abandoned a long time ago. Broken achievements really bum me out man!
