Story is horrible, Map is great. Combat isn't the best but it has it's charm. Lots of random stuff to loot around the whole map. I played maybe 20 hours in this game and I'm having fun for sure.(steam deck playtime not adding up for some reason) Ghost Wire Tokyo isn't exiting by any means but it is a nice chill walking sim with some action. So don't get your expectations too high. Also, it runs at 30fps low-medium settings with xess upscale on the steamdeck so keep that in mind. (intel xess is the best looking upscaling method for the steamdeck)
傻逼游戏,操他全家,任务他妈的天天找东西,老他妈找这找那的,也是服了
Ok game, One time play, Good story, not much depth but still good, combat is good and simple, enemy variety is less and not much boss fight ( 5 boss fights). 6.5/10.
I was really excited to play this game, and I did have fun playing overall, but I'd be lying if I wasn't disappointed by some of the lost potential I feel like this game has. Cons: - Firstly, the story is by far the blandest, weakest part of the game. I was interested in learning more about the characters and their stories, but there just wasn't much there. At times the main story feels disjointed from the game play, which is a shame, because the game play was really fun! - This is the first game that I've played that is BEGGING you to use photo mode. So many rewards for side quests and collectibles are new emotes or stickers for photo mode. Like, a gratuitous amount. This wouldn't be bad if it was in addition to other rewards, but there is an expectation that the photo mode reward is equal to an in game ability or power up. - Some of the side missions with the yokai get reused, and start to feel tedious and stale. - Some parts feel a touch unpolished, like vaulting on roofs. There were several times where if didn't quite feel like the animation played correctly. Pros: - I found the game play to be really fun! I enjoyed that you could weave together different elements and use them strategically against the different enemy types. Unlocking new abilities furthered the options you had for battle and play styles. - Even through the world is very vast and devoid of people, many of the enemies are staged to be doing mundane activities like window shopping or taking selfies. I was very charmed by the miscellaneous set pieces. - What this game totally lacks in story it attempts to make up for in knowledge. Every enemy entry, collectible, or KK's Investigation notes has paragraphs of information about the cultural significance or history about the item, area, or event. Its clear how much research and time and effort was put into these entries, but it's also quite a bit to expect your average player to read every extensive entry. - The game is gorgeous with very detailed environments, and I enjoyed the designs for the monsters and characters. I'm sad Tango Gameworks won't get a chance to make another Ghostwire game, because they clearly had a passion for the game they created, but felt short in some areas that really needed more love. I definitely don't regret playing it, so I'd recommend giving it a try if it's on sale, but I can't justify the game at full price.
MY THOUGHTS: I'm not going to lie, the intro scene of this game actually hooked me right off the bat- and that hook stayed with me to the very end of the game. So many times throughout my gameplay I thought "what is going on?!" So they hit the nail on the head with that. It's a very beautiful and artistic game, I love the funky art and designs. The monsters are actually kind of scary. However, there aren't really any jump scares (even though I spent the first hour or so waiting for one- Ya can't help it with how creepy and liminal the buildings feel while inside). It amazes me that this game is 4 years old and the graphics are still very beautiful. The game overall drenched me in curiosity, and I actually learned a little bit about Japanese folklore along the way which was super cool. If you do not know, this is basically a "ghost hunting" game. Instead of weapons, you have ethereal powers + a bow and arrows. ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY: This game is STORY HEAVY, and is downright beautiful. The game DOES offer difficulty modes- you can set the game to easy if you are more of a story person, but you can also set it on one of the harder difficulties if you love combat. Regardless, you will still experience a fair amount of combat. The game has 6 chapters, and if you aim for the main storyline alone, you can complete it in about 12-15 hours. (I read online that full completion to 100% can take anywhere between 30-40 hours.) However, there are PLENTY of side missions and quests from lost spirits that will hike your gameplay hours up way further if you like the exploring. There are also hidden items and things to find scattered all around town, "collections to complete" I should say... and even toy capsule machines. Completing certain collections unlocks different camera filters, emojis and more. If you take your time, you will spend a lot of your time exploring both the streets AND the rooftops of "abandoned" Tokyo. cleansing souls and capturing them in an effort to escort them to safety via a telephone booth (Ghostwire... You're literally wiring souls.) You will unlock more locations in the map as you cleanse the Torii gates and "remove" the mysterious fog surrounding you. The side quests are typically simple and some are actually pretty funny. They are worth playing in my opinion, in order to get the full experience. Throughout the game, you will slowly figure out what's going on and begin to understand the story more and more as you progress just like a lot of game, but for me personally? I still questioned the entirety of what was going on for the majority of the game. This really is a "WTF is happening" game... and a "WTF IS THAT!!!!" game. Oh, and you can talk to animals/read their thoughts too... That's pretttttyyyyy dope. (So remember to feed the doggies then follow them to get a little reward!) Overall, I'd rate this game about a 6 or 7 out of 10. It's not the absolute BEST, but it's worth playing- ESPECIALLY if you get it on sale. I bought the game on discount at 90% off, and I am shocked at the quality + amount of gameplay I received for that price. ***Let it be noted that at some point in chapter 4, you will reach a point of no return until you finish the game which means you will not be able to complete any side quests or anything until you finish the main storyline. So take as much or as little time as you want depending on your level of enjoyment and MAKE SURE YOU VISIT THE CAT VENDORS TO STAY STOCKED UP ON ARROWS (for non-ethereal damage) & SNACKS (for hp).*** Yes, I said cat vendors.
Gave it a solid try, around 6 hours. I don’t feel Too bad given the fact that I only paid $6.00 for it. It wasn’t for me. Really boring gameplay and uninteresting game concept with empty open world and mediocre combat and enemies. I don’t recommend it at all at any sale price.
This is not an amazing game, but it is a fun and competently made one. The story doesn't stick out as anything super special, but it's still enjoyable for what it is. Many people these days think of "mid" games as being bad simply by their nature as not being exceptional, but I don't think that's any standard to hold games up to. Mid simply means average, and average games can still be good. Although this game contains horror elements, it's not something I would personally describe as scary. There are no jumpscares and you are never truly helpless against enemies either. It's similar to something like Left 4 Dead in which horror is just a theme rather than the actual genre the game fits into. That being said, there are still some elements that I could see some more sensitive people reacting more strongly to so use your own judgement in this regard. The open world is not all available from the start. Instead, there's a fog that blocks you from safely exploring beyond it. Within the explorable area are gates (often guarded by enemies) which when "cleansed" will remove the fog over the nearby surrounding area and allow you to reach additional gates to do the same thing. These gates also function as fast travel points. The main enemies you will encounter across the city are ghostly apparitions called "Visitors". These come in various types, each with their own capabilities and difficulty in defeating them. To defeat them, you must deal damage to them to gradually expose their cores. Once their core is exposed, you can deploy a wire and over the course of several seconds attempt to rip the core out to defeat them. Be careful however, as many visitors can shoot projectiles or have companions with them. If a projectile they already launched is still on a collision course with you or another visitor tries to attack you, you might get interrupted and the exposed core will no longer be exposed. Often visitors that previously had exposed cores will be easier to expose again, or you might overkill them which deals with them without having to remove their core. If multiple visitors have their cores exposed at the same time, you can often wire into them at the same time provided you are looking in their direction and are within range. This is an effective way of dealing with groups. There's also stealth mechanics similar to The Elder Scrolls games. The visual indicator of how alert enemies are of you also telegraphs where they are in relation to you, which helps you to find them if they started noticing you before you noticed them. If you approach an unaware enemy from behind, you can do what functionally amounts to a backstab which will one shot most visitors and deal big damage to the tankier ones. You have five other methods of attacking enemies. The first three are different elemental types of attacks. You will unlock wind, water/ice, and fire, each with their own ammo pools. Fourth, you get a bow and arrow which can be used as a backup when you don't have access to the previous three types of damaging enemies. It has the longest range but only one type of shot and you can only hold up to 10 arrows at a time. The final method of attack is melee. Your ordinary melee attacks are weak but can be upgraded to restore your elemental ammo. You can also eventually get a ground pound to deal big damage from above and the ability to do your "backstab" attack from a distance on unaware enemies as long as you are above them. For defending yourself against enemies, you can project a shield via a "block" button. Blocking a small attack protects you from damage. Blocking a larger attack reduces your damage. Blocking a huge attack reduces your damage but shatters your shield, staggering you. If you block with perfect timing however, you parry allowing you to avoid damage from any sort of attack and this can be upgraded to allow you to counterattack as well, although they must be activated manually. You can also unlock the ability to dash, which is more reliable for avoiding damage if your timing isn't good but take care not to dash into enemy attacks. You can evade attacks even without dashing by simply moving away from the attack or in some cases jumping over it, but this is situationally useful. Upgrades are obtained via a skill tree. Skill points are obtained by leveling up. Leveling up is done by gaining experience points. To gain experience points, you either defeat enemies or exchange souls for EXP. Souls are found in clusters across the city. You have a certain capacity of paper "containers" called katashiro which can be upgraded up to 50 at shops. Simply approach a cluster of souls and hold the interact button to absorb the cluster into a katashiro. You can then use payphones located around the city to exchange these souls for money and EXP, emptying your carried containers for re-use in the process. All of your supernatural abilities are tied to a specter possessing your body named "KK". This is more than just a narrative truth, as some visitors have the ability to rip him out of your body, leaving you without his powers. Keep an eye out for purple attacks, as they are bad news in this regard and you really don't want to take a direct hit from them. If you do lose KK, don't panic. When losing him is part of the story you will get him back by progressing. When not part of the story, he will be floating nearby and can be reclaimed if you are careful. You can spot Tengu flying above buildings. You can wire these to launch yourself up onto the rooftops, or if you can find ladders/stairs you can use these to get up instead. You can use your spiritual powers to glide for a short period of time, allowing you to leap from roof to roof. This will be essential in your exploration throughout the city and will be required on occasion for progression. Note that certain abilities such as wiring Tengu remain usable while you are airborn. Located around town are various sidequests. As usual, these are optional and reward you for completing them. However, three of these all part of the same questline called "After the end" can only be completed before starting the final story mission. The game does warn you when you reach the critical point at which this happens, but it is something to be aware of nonetheless. There's even more aspects of the gameplay than I have described here, but if I were to try to describe every little thing I would run out of space for this review. Hopefully I have at least covered the basics enough that you can get an idea of what the game is like and decide if it sounds like something you are interested in.
It's just very awkward. Gameplays fine but the movement and grinding for souls gets annnoying quick.
the collection mechanics in this game are so fun to me. the story is interesting and i love the environments and how devoid of life everything is while still feeling lived-in. the fighting mechanics are SO COOL and fun to perform.
