Three thousand years in the future, mankind has carved a bloody path towards domination of the known universe. Self-proclaimed as a divine race and beyond reproach as a species, they view all alien races as inferior.

This stupid pile of ♥♥♥♥ should not be played by anybody with more than 3 and a half functioning brain cells. Gameplay is atrocious and slow, and not interesting in any way. The graphics are an eye sore to look at, even with it being made over a decade ago. The UI must have been designed by a team of incompentent monkeys throwing piss stained banana peels mixed with smegma onto a blank canvas, then getting some dumb degenrate who is missing an eye and is almost legaly blind to port it over to photoshop so it can be used in the game. Please do not buy this garbage. I've seen better designs in hentai. There are genuine good RTS games you happily spend your money on and have fun with, not this abomination produced by Satan and his cultish followers themselves. Delete this game from Steam.
"NOT ENOUGH MEOMORY" Yes... that last part is misspelled, and yes, this is the crash window popup i got. Expect to see it too if you buy this drm protected gem
Starcraft in space without mining and building but with cool spaceship-living flesh mutations sucking each other dry with a mosquito sting
Mixed feelings. I actually like this game. The concept of the bio-ship that changes based upon your needs is cool to me. I have played the game outside of steam and loved it. Inside of steam, it seems to be broken. When I looked around to other users of the game, I read the instructions of how to make it work. I created the folders that I was instructed to create and then the game would start. After that, the graphics were chewed up. Stream could/should have put a bit more work into making sure the game functioned properly. Will change this review when / if the game functions properly. Outside of steam, I still occasionally play it.
It's just... Bad. You can't save without it being corrupt so you have to go to the developer website, submit a ticket so that they give you save files otherwise you can't get past the 2nd or 3rd mission. Overall, the gameplay is mediocre with overpowered AI. 2/10 for effort, will never install/play again.
I wish another game like this would be created. The concept of organic ships and these ship designs were always so freaking cool to me and i wish this game got more optimization and love cause as a child i loved this game and i play rarely now but hopping in to do a random skirmish is still a little refreshing.
Bad. Just plain bad. A purely 2D space RTS with tiny levels, cruddy voice acting and an intriguing plot concept turned to mush by horrible execution, this game wasn't worth buying when it was new and definitely isn't today. Even for five bucks. Living ships, genetic modification... New. Different. Intriguing. (sigh) I wish these guys hadn't done it. I wish they'd left it for a serious, competent, industrious game developer that could give the concept the attention it deserved and make the most out of it. Unfortunately these guys took it, and now they've got it all copyrighted, which means that a truly wonderful idea is buried in this crap game. Just plain sad.
Genesis Rising was a fun and entertaining game back in the day and did have a an average story line coupled with a limited plane of movement. That being said I would have once still recommended this game. However since the release on steam the game has not been optimized nor set up correctly for modern graphic cards and systems. Buggy and crashs fairly offten. If you do buy this game please know to get it to run with ships accually spawning in the campain mission start do the following. 1) In the main directory create a 3 folders : Temp, Replays and save. 2) In the graphics tab turn shaders down to medium. 3) Run a virtual machine as XP and this should solve a lot issues. 4) Cross fingers and hope you have minium crashes. Enjoyed this game years ago sadly the crashes and measures to get it to work have led me to uninstall it and add it to my crap games dont play tab in steam. Not worth it for $5.00 not worth it for $1.00
This looked like a fun game and worth a punt at £2, but it seems the campaign doesn't work as on mission 2 it does not spawn a ship for you, thus you cannot do anything.. a real shame. I cannot figure out what has gone wrong with it, but it is seems like a strange and obvious failure to miss.. anyone know of a solution? I would assume a patch would have been auto updated by steam.
