Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 14 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I'm not sure why the X-COM nerds feel the need to downgrade this game. This is not better or worse than X-Com. This is simply a different game. Personally I love X-Com you can check my library. I have X-Com and the DLCs. This game if you don't compare it to X-Com is a very good game. I love the Jack addition and it's updates. Don't be that guy/gal that rates a game based on X-Com. Enjoy similar games that are simply different. FFS.
Real fun game. Surprise microsoft account sign in sucks. Can't play the game anymore because of it.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

XCOM is still the best. Gears Tactics feels OK from start to middle, but it fails to retain excitement after that. Many times, maps are reused; optional missions cannot be skipped; and the best items are only after beating the game are just some of the reasons I cannot recommend this game.
forced login even for offline play
nah. The game isn't worth the tedium of having to sign into Microsoft... and have the log-in page not remember your credentials...
It's like Xcom but somehow lacking something. The maps are very repetitive, you feel like you go to the same gate, open and kill all. Story was OK, good graphics, good cinematics. Progress of your chars is lackluster, many times feels better to just recruit a new guy with +1level than do missions with your old roster. It's still fun to play if you like Xcom type of games. It's a 7/10 but makes no sense to play it after you finish the SP story line (around 27hours).

So far this isn't a tactics game...100% luck-based success or failure. Doesn't matter how well you set up or execute a good plan. Too many of these games rely entirely on having random chance be the reason you lose rather than a failed strategy--because the enemy in this game doesn't seem to have any tactic except rush and swarm, and waves can happen randomly. There's no way to plan after a failed attempt because the next time you try you might be facing 10 new enemies 2 turns sooner.
Fun xcom clone with a gears of war skin, does get a bit stale later in the game though. Microsoft need to release a Gears 1-3 collection on PC soon. 6.5/10
I am moving into chapter 3 and I am ready for the game to end. I am not a big first person shooter enjoyer so I had hoped to enjoy the gears franchise in a different format. However the game isn't really designed for that and centres around tracking down one antagonist to kill over a few story missions and fills out the game with tedious side missions. There is nothing here that resembles an interesting campaign or offers any lore to help introduce players into the gears universe. The tactical combat is good but the rest of the game is bare bones and uninteresting. The bad: Mikayla is an annoying hard ass girl boss trope who ruins the story missions. Side missions lack variety and become tedious after chapter 1. The mission modifiers and additional objectives get in the way of the enjoyment of the game. Managing gear and armour upgrades isn't enjoyable due to the UI. The UI needs improved. Collecting loot boxes during missions is busy work. Not enough deployable gears which means you cant bring one gear of each class on missions. Need to sign into Microsoft account to play. The Good: The combat is good. Character building is decent. Boss missions are cool (but they have questionable mechanics). Decent enemy variety and threats. Overwatch is done really well. Performance is good and the game looks good. Voice acting and cinematics are good.
