Caesar!
This game is interesting as well as fun. Using mouse clicks and choices, you decide the fate of not only the Roma soldiers and garrisons from 53 BC (which you control) but the surrounding other cities you are meant to conquer of other factions/people of the time. The game is simple and to the point and with that you learn quite a bit of history as well between any choices you make per turn. You can attack, sell off and return captors and even invest in the cities you have conquered by sending coin for more food. To not get into any attacks during a turn helps troops and garrisons to replenish themselves from rest. The game first starts you out to obtain a certain amount of cities to conquer. As you progress through the game that amount climbs. I can assume it keeps going until everything has been taken over which in itself will be no small feat. As for battles themselves, this is done with dice rolls. You can watch the battles as they unfold or even do it "quick style" where the game takes care of it all and you wait for the outcome while watching who has the upper hand via slide bars that drain during the battles. Very nice and easy to understand. The game this simple in fact is interesting during play as well as attacking others. After your turn and choice, battles are shown that are being made before your next turn. Take this into account as you watch the morale of cities that fall by certain factions/people. This can be a "make or break" for you and your troops in the long run. Sometimes you will be attacked by one of these groups from another city so keep morale into account if you are! A very simple but yet interesting game! I'm enjoying the game and am not a hard core war gamer whatsoever. The graphics are simple and yet get to the point of what needs to be done to get it points across. Whomever this dev is made quite a very nice game here and it's not to be missed! This is NOT a hard core war game nor is it meant to be. No hexes, no 4x movement or etc. It's basic to it's form and it just works. If you're playing via Linux you won't need Proton at all; it runs straight "out of the box" sort to speak and loads wicked fast. A very nice thing all around! I look forward to more war games from this dev!
