There are some nice ideas in this game but it is far too easy and therefore only the achievements and high scores will be any motivation for you continuing. Even then, because of the easiness of the game, all of the modes can be beaten in ninety minutes and more than likely you will quit at that point.
I liked the idea of a Arkanoid brick breaker clone paired with a Galaxian type Space Invader game play, and it should be an excellent mix, but there's just not enough excitement to keep your interest unfortunately. For a start, you cannot destroy any of the blocks until you collect a power up that allows you to do this. Sometimes, it can be a couple of minutes before it slowly drifts down to your bat and you can start blasting away. Okay, that would work if in the meantime you were kept busy will alien invaders, but nothing much happens until you get the power up, which can mean minutes of just waiting around. I was literally drinking my cup of tea whilst waiting. There are a few solitary invaders that make an appearance in that time but they are no bother to kill and never threaten you. Once you do have the power up in your arsenal it doesn't take too long to blast away the bricks and complete the level, and this is the story of the game. On later levels with lots of bricks, things do become more difficult, as hitting bricks releases enemies, and at one point it felt quite exciting with swarms and swarms of enemies buzzing away at me like angry wasps, and I really enjoyed that part, but then I realized that if you bump into one of them the whole swarm is defeated and you lose one of your fifty lives, and it went back to being easy again.
🎬Gameplay Video🎬
https://youtu.be/tz3ylFsQHk0 Fifty lives is just a ridiculous amount of lives to have, and it is so easy to gain lives as well, so I maintained my fifty lives through all of the campaigns and was never in danger of being defeated. I think the lowest I got was forty-two lives.. Each of the three campaigns has ten levels and the final level is the boss battle, and this is the only time that an enemy fires back at you. Breaking bricks does occasionally produce debris that flies off at angles, which can take a life, but didn't produce much danger in reality. The three different campaigns felt exactly the same but just with a different aesthetic. Even the boss at the end was exactly the same, but I did like the idea of having a boss that moved around the screen firing at you. The endless mode with a high score table is far too easy also, and I got bored playing it after four hundred thousand points and eighth on the leader board. I doubt it would be much hardship to get to number one but I just couldn't be bothered as the game play was incredibly repetitive and took far too long to get going. In the twenty levels I played almost all of them were identical and contained so few bricks that one power up destroyed them all. This mode really needs to ramp up the difficulty much sooner.
🍳Conclusion🍳

I liked the concept on offer here, but it just wasn't executed well enough for a recommend unfortunately. It is far too easy and enemies have no attack patterns, do not fire at you, and the amount of lives you are awarded is far too much. With a few changes this could prove to be a winner but at the moment there's too many things stopping any enjoyment being had. It's a cool mix of shooting space ships and breaking bricks. The level don't take too long, so it's a fun challenge when you don't have much time. The game has different campaigns with different art styles, which are nice to explore. But check it out yourself.
Very good mix of classic breaking bricks and killing enemies. Quite enjoyable and would definitely recommend to give it a try!
i really like the game, the game play was nice, the instructions were easy to follow. would love a mobile version.
a little mindless fun but still got a few things to pull you in and focuse up, cant wait to see how it improves, will say there are a few graphical hiccups but nothing to ground breaking , give it a shot if you got 4 bucks and a little free time!
Ceak's Galaxy Bricks Review
TLDR : A mix of Galaga and Arkanoid two old school games, for the younger generations alien invasion and brick breaker. The game needs more work but if you are a fan of arcade games particularly old school arcade games you may want to check this one out.
Pros:

Music is on track for the genre
The combination of games is nice
Movement of the platform is smooth
Stages are quick
Generous amount of lives per stage

Cons:

Title screen needs work
No in game tutorial
No explanation or key on what items do
Ball doesnt seem to bounce as expected, at least when compared to the old games

Suggestions:

Fix the cons
Add more enemies and "weapons"
Okay! Here is my review. This game is a classic block buster game but so much better. I also truly love the price point. It feels like a modern day, arcade classic. At first when you start the game you think it's easy and you start feeling good about yourself.. Then something begins happening where you go, "Oh wait hold up... how did I die?!" And then the challenging levels kick in. It's quite addicting and becomes busy and hard! There are literally so many moving elements but it's done so well. I seriously think that if you love Geometry Wars and Ping Pong games, you're guaranteed to love this one.
Wow! Honestly being a part of this process and watching this game release was an awesome feeling. When I first played the game I was hooked. I like fast-paced games and boy was this fast. Figuring out the controls took me a little longer, but I enjoyed the different setups you can take like using the arrow keys or the ASWD keys. There are a lot of great features in this game and I love all the different sprite designs, and as a designer, I honestly died quite a bit just because I caught myself looking at the sprites. This game has a really fun and challenging premise that is similar to both Break-Out and Galaga. It kept my attention and fun for just a casual play through. I'm a sucker for good games by small creators. I am proud to have helped work with the creator and see this game become a reality. :D
I think this is an amazing game! The controls are easy and repetitive, so it's easy to get sucked into it. Plus, it's a lot of fun to see your progress on the leader board. It feels just like a retro arcade game, and the boss levels are not so difficult that it's impossible, but hard enough to be a fun challenge. 10/10 would recommend! XD
Galaxy Bricks has come a long way since release. The game is simple. Use your A and D keys to move left and right, use your left click on your mouse to shoot and right click your mouse to bring a ball into play to break bricks. Different items will fall from the sky like a shield or a laser etc,, and you catch those. Use the corresponding number on your keyboard to activate the power up. I'd recommend Galaxy Bricks.
