Rocket Blasters is a fast paced, action packed shoot-em-up set during the invasion of the Dread Pizza Armada. Its hand-drawn art gives it a unique style. Blowing stuff up has never been so fun!

kara kalem çalışması gibi bir arcade yapım roket ilerlerken asteroidlere çarpmamaya çalışıyoruz çizimleri beğendm hoş ve özgün ama oyun saracak bişey değil
This game is great fun! For anyone who is into arcade style score chasers, this is a must have! At 1$, this is a total bargain. It is repetitive, but, somehow, that isn't really a negative with this game. It really works with it. It is light-hearted from the art style, to the music. Lots of fun and a good way to just jump into a game and unwind.
Totally Cosmic!

Rocket Blasters
introduces to you a game that looks unique and provides you with some serious challenges. You get hit once, collide, or mis-time a shot and it's game over. I got to stage 10 before deciding I'd seen enough to give it a pretty fair review. Remember games like Galaga and Asteroid? This game fits nicely in those two arcade classics. I can see myself playing more of this in the future. It does get harder as you go and new enemies are introduced to you throughout the game.
Game Mechanics
The recently updated control scheme made it easy for me to steer with my arrow keys as that is always my preferred method over the WASD controls. Everything moved like I expected it to. eventually though your fingers will get tired so play the game in moderation. There is an auto-fire, but it's not the best auto fire setup this side of the galaxy either. It'd be more useful if it sort of matched the firing rate of the missiles you often see cascading in galago when you hold down the fire button.
I give the mechanics a fair score
9 out of 10.
Sounds and Music
The sounds and music design in this game are strong enough to keep my interest going. Mostly because i'm so focused on the enemies that are incoming. Between that and the asteroids, I'm more focused on watching the action, than i am hearing the sounds. But there are sound effects decent enough to be engaging. Though I'm kind of surprised that I didn't really hear a sound effect for the mega-destroyer. But that's okay there's plenty of action to keep my focus.
Score:
7 out of 10.
Visuals:
Now this. Is where the game kicks ass. Everything from the exploding asteroids to the different array of weapons is very stimulating eye-candy. And at first glance, it almost seemed like there's no color. But there actually is. There are hints of a blue hue strewn with your ship's weapon. and the enemy weapon which helps you keep track of incoming fire. The weird looking gray-out diamond shapes are clearly stars, and in my opinion while there is a modern lack of color going on throughout most of what I saw, That actually works for this game. This pulls back the classic era of asteroid, which back than only had two colors to it. So this game fits that style nicely.
Score:
9 out of 10.
Overall gameplay and fun:
The overall gameplay keeps me interested, the fun I had in trying to out maneuver ships was relatively large. And there are achievements that pop up in the game. I almost accidentally died during one of those achievements. It surprised me at a time when i was facing off with a lot of on screen obstacles. I would certainly recommend this to those of you who are into the asteroid/space shooter genre. The relatively simple mechanics of the controls with the smooth way the rocket flies to and fro, is very worthwhile. I give the overall fun factor a
Score
8 out of 10
This review was submitted for Gaming Until End, through the generous contribution of HellCow.
Would have paid 3 times as much for this. The art style drew me in and the fact that this started out as Inktober ball-point pen doodles really made me take an interest. If you like old shmups like r-type, apidya, project x, etc then you may find this worth a look. The drawings were turned into this game and it could do with some more refining, bug fixing etc but the potential is there for sure. Steam workshop would be great for players to draw their own ships and import them as mods etc. As simple as this title is, sometimes simplicity is inspiring.
This review was written for My Curation Page. I received a reviewing copy of this game for free. However, my review is honest.
I received this game via Steam Curator Connect. Thanks! Skip to the bottom for my Final Thoughts Rocket Blaster is a cutesy hand-drawn casual shoot em up developed and published by Michael Klaus Schmidt - a one-man developer army.
Graphics
Rocket Blaster is, like I mentioned, a cutesy hand-drawn game. You pilot a hand-drawn rocket ship traversing a hand-drawn planet against hand-drawn enemies and asteroids. Although the art is simple, I enjoy the hand-drawn sprites and makes the game feel much more casual when compared to other games in the shoot em up genre. I especially like the ice caves you will come across while playing. Although they don't really add much to the game, the background helps break up the rather mundane normal shaded background you play in for the most part of the game.
Audio & Soundtrack
The music in Rocket Blasters is... decent. That doesn't mean the music is bad, but in my opinion, it doesn't fit the space/sci-fi theme of the game. However, the music does fit that of a children's game which does fit if you consider the hand-drawn art which could appeal to some children. Unfortunately, there aren't many tracks to listen to. There are 2 or 3 main tracks that loop when you play and a different track for whenever you face a boss. The sound effects are decently done as well. The ships firing noise sounds exactly like what a cliché laser pistol would sound like. Oh and, you can't hear sounds in space so consider my immersion ruined. (/s)
Gameplay
Rocket Blaster is a casual (and I say that lightly) shoot em up game. I say casual in a light tone because although it can be played as a casual game, the boss fights that you will occasionally come across are not casual at all. It may be the fact that I am rather inexperienced with the genre however I could not for the life of me beat that boss. I spent more time than I'd like to admit fighting the Colossal Dreadnaught for the first time (although I may or may not have spent the majority of my time was spent fighting one boss over and over again until I beat it). There are also a few bugs that I came across. Entering your name into the leaderboard is annoying and I still haven't gotten used to it yet. After you die and hit restart, it doesn't really matter what button you press. If you even press the up key (whatever you have that set to) it will automatically start a new game without you even having to actually press Start. Or if you're done playing after you die and you select Exit, it'll still put you into a new game. In fact, you can press anything and the game will restart. Alt-F4ing is really the only way to quit after you die.
Storyline
There is, unfortunately, no story to Rocket Blasters. Some exposition would be nice. Where am I, who am I, and why am I fighting a pizza slice in space?
Final Thoughts
Overall Rocket Blaster is a decent play. I would suggest it to those who are relatively new to the Shoot em Up genre or to those who enjoy hand-drawn graphics. It is a cheap alternative to other shoot em up games on Steam for those with a tight budget. As of this review, the game is still being actively developed which is a refreshing sight to see.
Its pretty obvious this is a home project but even so its a fun, rather sweet and actually quite addictive game. For less than £1 it really is a great price for something which provides some honest to goodness plain old fun. In addition I can confirm the Linux version runs very well.
Rocket Blasters is a simplistic 2D retro side scrolling bullet hell/shoot 'em up style game with a "pencil drawings on graph paper" high school schtick that looks very amusing and nostalgic for roughly 4-5 seconds total. Fly a "rocket" endlessly towards the right hand side of your screen and shoot stuff, accompanied by some kinda lame sound effects. That's all there is to this. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. To make matters worse, there's no mouse input, despite this being sold on PC as if it were a PC game. This is unacceptable and somewhat insulting to PC gamers. It's a good demonstration of the poor attitude the developer has towards PC gamers, and this attitude has resulted in yet another defect in this game. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", Schmidt Workshops has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers. The very poor quality of this game puts it squarely on-par with ancient 1990's Flash/Java games, and given it's 2023 (and this was released not so far back in 2017), gamers and the industry expect and deserve better than this kind of low effort shovelware. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Rocket Blasters is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
While the game becomes repetitive after ~15 minutes, it stays a great time killer - especially if you want to play a little shoot 'em up with unique graphics. Also, if you like the creator's ballpoint pen drawings (he often shares them on his different social media accounts), purchasing this gem is one nice way to support him.
Cool art style, simplistic and repetitive but there's a learning curve and the achievements are pretty tricky.
