Future Grind is a hidden gem if you like platformers. What I love is your ability to be creative with the many path choices but you must choose quickly and execute immediately after deciding. It's very challenging and improves your mind's ability to think and act quickly. The controls are simple: jump, double-jump, and rotate. You can hold jumps so they act like thrusters to continue pushing up. That's it but the rotating is incredibly precise. I fly r/c aircraft and you use the same fine motor skills when rotating with this game as you do flying r/c. That combined with the fast decision making and creativity in choosing your path makes this game incredibly challenging and rewarding when you succeed. One of the ways you can tell it's great is how much fun you can have with just the second tutorial level. With just two alternating colored lines, you can jump forward and back. Hang below or push up. Fall onto each line without jumping. Land on your front, back or both wheels. In mid-air you might decide to thrust up instead of falling down to get to the next rail up higher. It's surprisingly fun just manipulating the little character exactly how you like. It's runs the smooth-as-butter which makes it a pleasure to control and combined with the fine motor control of your vehicles rotation make this game way more fun than than you'd think just by looking at the graphics.
This is the sort of game that addictive if you like to complete things. It's taxing it's hard and difficult but super rewarding. I find for me it's great fun to learn all the different mechanics and learn not how to use the different bikes but master them. If you like a game with a unique play style this is the one for you.
Amazing soundtrack and fun, addicting gameplay with a "story" to go along with it. Accessibility options mean that almost anyone can play and any difficult courses become super easy.
Easy to learn, hard to master !
FutureGrid is a simple, but fun game that will draw you in and make you think to yourself "one more try" over and over again, and before you know it, you've been playing for 3 hours straight. The game is simple enough; you ride a custom bike with spinning, color coded wheels and your job is to reach the end of the levels by grinding on color coded rails using the corresponding bike wheel color. The concept is very straightforward, but the challenge comes from learning to use the many different bikes, which control very differently from one another, and also dealing with color modifiers for both the wheels and rails. Also, there are additional challenges specific to each level that force you to beat them multiple times from from different angles, not to mention chasing high scores. I found that the challenges were varied enough and fair in terms of difficulty, which is part of why I didn't mind failing for hours straight to achieve a high score on some of the tracks. As for the presentation, the graphics are fine and the game will run on a lot of underpowered laptops, while I personally though the music was very catchy and appropriate for the game. All in all, I think this game is totally worth the money at full price.
A good game. I really can't fault it, but you have to really enjoy this type of game to play it to completion. 7/10
It's fun. It's Arcadey. It's difficult. I got about 60% through the story then had to enable assist mode to complete the rest because it just got really difficult, and it kind of felt like cheating so I didn't enjoy it quite as much after that. Great game for fans of the genre though!
I enjoyed it so much on the Switch that I got it on Steam just so I could leave a review. The solid gameplay justifies the $10 price, but on sale this game's a steal. If you're a fan of games like The Impossible Game or Velocibox, get this.
Addicting and challenging gameplay make this a great game to pick up! It combines platforming with quick thinking to making it to the end of each course. Love the art style and mechanics! Great! https://youtu.be/8cotN-0VVKI
