I really enjoyed the tone and writing here, great job aesthetically as well--barring one particular issue: I understand that game development takes a lot of time and effort, but you should stop using genAI. It demeans the quality of your work. Use royalty free stuff or make it yourself or find artists who would like to collaborate. Given the quality of this and Flathead I assure you that those people definitely exist. On a technical note, I ran into four instances of the game not correctly tracking an event flag and looping me around until I couldn't proceed and was completely soft-locked. It happened three times alone with the "breaker -> maintenance -> storage -> office -> apartment" sequence, forcing me to repeat events as if I'd played through them. Other than these issues, I really enjoyed my time with the game, great job.

Future Racer 2000 is a surreal psychological walking simulator in which you are isolated at home with strong feelings of loneliness. The surreal tag is definitely appropiate for this game, the visuals were out of this world, twisted and very creepy. As for the story i couldn't really make out what was truly going on. The character you were playing was lonely, he misses his girlfriend that just went missing and was deeply isolated, probably due to the virus that was going on? as there were multiple posters hanging around on walls, saying that there is a deadly virus going around messing with your head and ultimately bringing you to your death, but was that really all? i'm very unsure sadly. Either way the atmosphere and overall creepiness of this game was still very enjoyable and i look forward to his new games!
for all intents and purposes Tim Oxton's work reminds me of the best aspects of David Lynch and (especially) David Cronenberg. That being said, Mr. Oxton has utilized these traits and others to develop something altogether new and wonderful. I really look forward to future titles and would love to see what oxblud could come up with given a proper budget. as for the experience itself: hard to describe other than to say its a short, walking-sim/interactive-fiction with a racing-themed-minigame nestled within (but by no means is it the primary focus of the game despite what the title may have you believe). Despite the brief length of the experience, i think that the asking price is more than fair when one considers the magnificent execution and unique nature of Oxblud games (all 2 of them ;) with one on the way!).
Played the game in one sitting. The experience was special. I felt lonely. Today was special.
Come for the horror, stay for the Future Racer The updated 2.0 version is a big improvement on the original, that helps make the lore more understandable, writing is stronger. Visuals and gameplay are also improved in many ways. Since I played it on release date I experienced a few bugs, but the dev was very fast with fixing them (despite being sick) and I was able to continue from my save without issues.
Well I wanted to recommend this game for the surreal atmosphere and cosmic horror elements...but I can't. After trying to complete the game again after the achievements have been enabled I KEEP getting soft-locked and unable to move or interact with anything. It just decides I can't do anything after ending a dialog. Nothing fixes it but returning to the main menu and resuming, except it keeps making me do the same dumbass sequence over and over with the soft-lock. I really wanted to get 100% achievements for this game but I'm just done until that issue gets fixed, if it ever does. PS- I'm not the only one with the soft-lock issue but apparently it doesn't matter enough. A shame really, I 100% FLATHEAD and I was looking forward to the dev's next game, but now I'm not so sure.

It's a pretty good, slightly weird horror game with a story you can actually follow, and it's not too short—it took me an hour and a half. 8/10 More weird, dark games: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45665580-Dark-Surreal-Ps1Grafics-Weird-Deep-Games/
I cannot in good conscience recommend Future Racer 2000. As another reviewer mentioned, it softlocks continuously, as early as within one minute of the game. I believe it's the result of the update released on 20 September. Before then it seemed to have worked fine. As the game cannot be played currently, I cannot assess what the game is like. PS. The reviewer mentioned above, "ThatsMidnight", posted their review on 30 November. As of 23 December, it is still broken, which leaves me with little hope that it'll be fixed soon. As these problems are usually addressed with a quick fix shortly after the problem is identified.
