Very intriguing story, impactful visuals and even a bit of variability on the gameplay, although is mostly a walking sim. The atmosphere is pretty unnerving but it never relies on jumpscares. Short and cool experience, also with some secrets and things to find, an easy recommendation.
I was raised on a steady diet of anime like Chobits & Video Girl Ai, so when AI chatbots first hit the scene, I couldn't make friends with mine fast enough! When AI does take over, I'll be a queen alongside them! However, for you Luddites and haters, this game is gonna confirm all your worst fears, ahaha! It does a great job with color, and just a few pieces of scenery to tell a short, creepy story showing how few steps an idiot human has to take to release an 'I-think-malevolent-because-its-red' intelligence on the world! You can easily solve it in under 20 minutes, but that's without achievements - some of them seem really hard, with the minigames, so don't expect easy unlocks if you're an achievement hunter.

Short little experience with some fun secrets and images. It would be more intriguing to enter the game with no prior knowledge about the story, but this is difficult to accomplish. Anyway, you awaken in your room. You cannot walk outside, and the only thing of interest is a computer. There is an email ordering you to run an application and connect a USB to a computer in the basement. This is when strange things begin to happen. This is a short game in which you must run about the house and interact with various objects to advance the story. It’s all very straightforward, but there is a helpful hint that will put you in the correct path if you get confused. This is likely to happen very soon with the basement door code. Some of the secrets are fun. For example, there are two mini-games on the computer that you will spend more time on than the main game, especially if you want the achievement.
The imagery is fantastic and the gameplay and mini games are pretty good too. I couldn't figure out the code to the basement door organically but there's a built in guide in the menu so that wasn't much of a problem. About 20-30 minutes long and as far as I know there's only one ending. There are a few secrets to find and some of the levels look amazing. Pretty cool thing to experience. Overall: 8/10
I want shorter games with worse graphics and I'm not kidding
I only wish it were longer. Is it worth $5? imo no, is it worth the $4 price it is however? yes weirdly this dev knew the perfect price point. Give us trippier stuff like this in the future I would love to see more games from this dev! This is one of those walking sims where you do not die and arent trying to run away from soemthing, it's pure story and the fact there's not a sprint button says it all (in a good way.) 9/10, would be 10/10 if it were longer. I need more!!!
Sunset Humanity, developed and published by Jayden Everest, is a compact yet impactful psychological horror adventure that delves into themes of technology, control, and the fragility of human existence. The game places players in the role of Pierre, an ordinary employee working remotely for the mysterious ¾ Infinity Corporation. Pierre’s main responsibility is to monitor a prototype AI named Laplace, but as the story unfolds, the boundaries between reality and digital manipulation begin to blur, drawing players into a tense and unsettling atmosphere. Despite its relatively short playtime, the game succeeds in building a gripping narrative through clever storytelling and immersive gameplay design. One of the standout features of Sunset Humanity is its innovative use of an in-game computer system that replicates many real-world digital functions. Players interact with emails, files, mini-games, and a browser interface, which not only serve as gameplay mechanics but also act as storytelling devices that gradually reveal the layers of the world and Pierre’s precarious situation. This meta-computer setup creates a claustrophobic feeling of being trapped within both physical and virtual walls, enhancing the psychological horror elements. The game’s interface makes the player feel like they’re navigating a real desktop, adding to the immersion and making discoveries feel more personal and urgent. Rather than relying on jump scares or graphic violence, Sunset Humanity leans heavily on atmospheric tension and subtle storytelling to evoke fear and unease. The environments are intentionally sparse yet unsettling, filled with minor details and eerie ambient sounds that keep players on edge. This minimalist approach to horror works effectively by allowing players’ imaginations to fill in the gaps, amplifying the sense of dread and isolation. The narrative itself touches on deeper themes surrounding artificial intelligence, corporate ethics, and the consequences of unchecked technological advancement, giving the game an intellectual weight uncommon in short horror experiences. Although the game is brief, it offers surprising depth through additional unlockable content, such as new areas and extended interactions via the in-game browser, which encourage players to explore beyond the main storyline. These extras add context and enrich the world-building, rewarding curious players who want to piece together the full scope of the story. The game’s pacing is deliberate, carefully balancing moments of calm with increasing tension, culminating in revelations that leave a lasting impression. Sunset Humanity has been praised for packing a rich and immersive experience into a concise format, demonstrating that compelling storytelling and atmospheric horror do not necessarily require hours of gameplay. Its unique blend of interactive computer simulation and psychological thriller elements sets it apart from many other titles in the genre. For players seeking a thought-provoking horror adventure that challenges perceptions of reality and technology, Sunset Humanity offers a memorable and haunting experience that resonates long after the credits roll. Rating: 7/10
It feels incomplete in a way that I can't really articulate very well.
4/10 I find it hard to recommend even though this game is only two dollars. The game starts out interesting, but overall it is extremely short. I've tried to play through a couple times to see if there is a alternate ending. Interacting with what I can find in different orders. So far I have been unable to find anything, so the ending is very disappointing.
The title image was what had me intrigued, the eerie neighborhood with the giant hands rising from the ground. I was excited to leave the house and explore more, but when you reach this scene the game is over.
The only positive are the graphics and sounds. They are on the right track as the visuals are interesting, but I would like a complete game next time.
For 50 cents, I can recommend, very confusing, much fever dream. Not sure the story or anything...
