Further Education

So, I played this one awhile back and I've read a lot of reviews stating that nothing is explained and characters don't have any introduction whatsoever. This isn't wrong and I've actually read the previous VN this actually is a side story (kind of?) to. But in order to know any characters in this you will have had to have read that VN to even know a few characters in this one. Of course, no one tells the readers this and it's not even known to anyone that had read the previous title that these VNs are part of the same world until later in this title's bullsh!t story. And yes the story is complete a$$. Nothing here makes any sense or even remotely correlates with events in the previous VN, which made a hell of a lot more sense. Seriously, that VN is about a guy who's wife cheated on him at the beginning and he moves on with one of two women in his life. That's it. The storytelling here is the equivalent of hearing about a crime story from a 10 year-old. [spoiler]"So there's this guy, and he's making a deal with a criminal right? Then cops show up and arrest everyone, but wait the guy setting all this up was actually working for FBI the whole time. Oh, and so was this really tall girl, she's his partner by the way. But then it turns out he's suffering from a tragic past, where his girlfriend died ... oh, and so did this partner, but that's not related, but they both killed themselves I think. I don't really know, it's never fully explained because the main guy blames this other chick, she's a real self centered b!tch supposedly, but it's never fully addressed how she is since she seems pretty nice to start with. Anyway then the main guy goes to see his mom, who's also his boss, who he flirts with all the time, and there's definitely some tension between him and EVERY F*CKING FEMALE CHARACTER, but nothing ever happens, despite the fact that something should have happened between somebody by episode 6 (seriously, it's an AVN with everything cut). But since the MCs chronically obsessed with his dead girlfriend who looks old enough to be his mother at random times and youthful at others, but she's somehow the same age as heroin jack here he just let's every opportunity pass like everyone else's life is the fast lane but he'd rather be stuck in the off ramps behind semis. Anyway, at some point it's heavily implied that his partner killed herself, why we don't know this story is told in a series of flash backs intermittently dispersed while still showing present day which is really in some kind of cyberpunk like world."[/spoiler] O_o F*cking what? I literally just stopped caring by this point. None of this makes any sense. It's never explained why his any of this sh!t happened or what caused it. And it continues like this for the entire story, just on and on and on. Look I don't know what the author was trying to do here. It starts out promising but it's pretty clear they went off on a tangent to try make the story more intriguing. And I can say with all certainty ... it failed. Anyway, the only praise I can give is that most of the models are good. The major and glaring exception being the MC. My guy looks like his face was sculpted with a brick and upon seeing himself in the mirror decided the only thing he could do to live with himself was become a heroin addict. Regardless, it goes without saying this wasn't for me. I'd like to wish the dev the best of luck and I truly hope they find their audience with this one, but I can't recommend this VN to anyone looking for a good read cause this ain't it.
