Frontline: Afrika Korps – My somewhat bumpy, but ultimately positive experience "Frontline: Afrika Korps now in real-time, really completely in real-time? Not quite in real-time – a small vestige of turn-based strategy remains." That's exactly how I felt at the beginning. I jumped in, thinking: okay, this time it'll play like a classic RTS. But nope… not really. And that's precisely what threw me off completely at first. Initially, I didn't understand the principle and longed for the old rules – turn by turn, planning calmly and knowing: I can win here. Instead, I thought I'd just send in with several units, numbers will do the trick, like a general in C&C… yeah, right. My troops were wiped out pretty quickly. And that's exactly where you realize: the old system isn't gone, it's just hidden differently. This "send one unit forward, react, wait" approach – that's still there. As soon as you spot an enemy unit, the typical firefight begins, almost like before, but now embedded in this new real-time feel. What I found really cool: you can occasionally capture enemy vehicles. That can really make the difference if you're losing. These little turning points make the whole thing more exciting. The bottom line: If you're familiar with the series, you'll have to adjust. The game isn't as "easy" to play as it used to be. But once it clicks, it's actually fun – just in a different way. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3715498666 [h1][url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/26335619-Adult-World-Gamers/] I love writing about games - and if you find my opinion interesting, you might also like our AWG Curator. the first in the series to go RTS and while i normally only play and test turn based games, this developer go way over what's classed as normal in support and time spent in game developing etc, so well worth the little cost of the game for the fun that is within. if you like war games and or his other games in the series, well worth adding to the collection
I like it. Which is why I'm giving it a thumbs up and I'm just speaking for myself. I'd really give it some horns \m/ but we can't do that lol. Was gonna get the Frontline: Assault Corps WW2 but I went with this instead. I like pretty much everything about it. I like that this one is a RTS and the others I've noticed to be TBS which I also really enjoy. I mean it's a little finnicky but I'm not picky by all means and I'm confident enough that it'll get updates. It's a cool little game. Honestly just wanna say thanks to the Dev for making a really cool fun game. Thank You :)
The visuals look good but this thing needs a ton of work. The tutorial is a mess It tells you what to do in the narration but there's no highlights I can't find or understand the buttons they're trying to get me to do. The graphics aren't showing up. The bottom left hud is a mess. I want to play the game and I've been gaming for a long time but there's no intuitive key layout. Like most of the similar games like this. I'm getting the tutorial and then that's it it doesn't tell you what else to do It's really muddled. I think there's a ton of potential here but they really need to polish this up. The only reason I have 11 minutes of play time is 'cause I couldn't get out of the tutorial I have no idea what the hell to do and nothing's telling me what to do. Hey guys thanks for replying I did another video it's much better today on the tutorial but it's still locked and it's not finishing the tutorial missions even though they're done. You guys can reach out to me directly if there's a better way for me to send you data I'm happy to help. I'm gonna change it to a thumbs up because the developers been super responsive and that really just shows he cares and I think there's tons of potential and he's definitely made fixes over the last couple of days I'm going to keep playing and trying'cause it seems like it could be really good.
Great game and a change from the usual turn based. Frontline Games is a one man team who strives to give the best game play a single indie developer can provide. Historically accurate and fun to play. Any issues and the developer will work on a fix, so join the community forums for any issues.
