[I received this product for free from a giveaway]. Only played for a short time, but sheesh, it's a bit of a mess both visually and gameplay wise. There's not much I can really say that would differ from what's shown in the trailer (rather crude MS-paint looking drawings with a few short looping backgrounds). You jump when moving right or left, flappy-bird esque, you dodge stuff going across the screen and from the top, which is a bit boring to me, but some may enjoy it more. You also have to go out of the screen to dodge sometimes, but also if you go too far out (who knows how far) you'll die as well. It might be an okay time waster for free (like old flash games), but I wouldn't recommend spending your money on this.
Verdict: Terrible. Pros: - It's fun to uninstall. - It tought me it's possible to totally remove games from your library (through Steam Support). - The artist learned how to make a drawing in mspaint.exe Cons: - 1680x1050 not supported. - Music is muted upon start, but since the music and sound effects are the worst, this might actually be considered a good thing. - Graphics are hilariously bad. - Gameplay is dull. - Confirmed: Just another trading card cash grab .
I’m pretty confident the total development cycle of From The Sky took less than my playtime. There are some serious design issues with this game, all the way from enemies that take half the screen to a ludicrous character hitbox. I can’t imagine anyone having fun with the game, and I seriously recommend staying clear of this one.
Thank you Kanye, very cool!
a Really cheap game that doesn't play well. The mechanics of the game feels static, no effort whatsoever went into to make it feel smooth or run smooth, it makes passing the obstacles unnecessarily hard, not because they are difficult, the game lacks everything from polishing, to QOL and better mechanics. Get it on a sale if you are a game collector, the achievements all work easily except for the one where you need to complete the game, that will will require getting used to the games mechanics to get through the levels.
From The Sky is unfinished in every aspect. While the main characters appear to be original and hand drawn, everything else is a hastily thrown together asset-flip with different art styles. The sound effects also feel random and out of place. Even the background images do not properly repeat and have an obvious line where it is re-drawn. The game has story mode, but ironically there is no story at all - just a few repetitive levels where the portal at the end just takes the player back to the main menu. Each level feels exactly the same too, where the player dodges the same enemies that are just re skinned. There was much more attention to detail on the store description than what was put into the actual game. In the end it doesn’t feel like a game at all, but more of a weekend project someone would share freely with family or close friends.
God this is bad.
After playing, I decided remove eyes...
I was a little hopeful about this game because the art style was similar to another game stylized as a cute version of some rpgmaker games. The game play here is extremely simple in its controls, left and right keys keep the player character from falling, and you must dodge obstacles while flying. While it is simple, it is repetitive and because the timing for the obstacles hasn't been thought through, unnecessarily hard. For achievement hunters, the achievements are time based and you will get all but 1 through time based playing ( they appear after the game closes). The only story line I can see really is from the store page. That's apparently it. I feel if the developer actually sat down and put effort into the graphics of this game, it could have been so much better. While some of the obstacles and characters appear hand drawn, others are clearly copy/pasted creative commons images. The backgrounds are just cropped google images. If the dev actually incorporated the whole game in the same style it might have had a chance, instead it is glaring and about 10 minutes of play may give you a slight headache. The "great soundtrack" is just 3 tracks it sounds like. Similar to default track beats that you pay $0.99 for the rights to use. This game fits for a first time flash/school project, not a unity game being sold on steam. Lack of time and effort was put in this game. Don't waste your time and money.
