I'm gonna be honest before I start with the actual review, I've only known freedom planet for like two years. The only reason I actually played it was because of Sonic.exe the disaster on roblox used an OST for this game. Okay, now onto the actual review, I think freedom planet 2 is a significant improvement despite some mechanics & gimmicks that I think were not that necessary. Firstly I'd like to say that the levels in this game are a whole lot better than the first freedom planet, as if you were a normal person who'd play both games for the first time FP2 does a lot better with the time. Though I will admit that playing on keyboard sucks in this game too because there's more keybinds, quite literally just go get a controller and connect it. The second thing I wanna touch up upon is the completion rank. It's an interesting touch to what the first freedom planet didn't have, and I think trinkets and whatever else impacting your score is something I wouldn't expect. Do I think it was that necessary? Ehhhh... Not really. Though I do think it was neat with the different combos you could use, especially the potions even if I never used 'em much. Also Carol's stage completion theme is the best, fight me! Thirdly, Freedom Planet 2's different movesets for the main three were a major improvement. Milla's revamp was for sure (imo) the best out of her, Carol, and Lilac. She isn't forced to run around carrying some giant cube, and her gimmick where you don't even need a cube to use her defense/offense moves. Though most fun in gameplay terms to me is 1000% Carol, her comedy relief-like writing carried the humor. I have a gif of her on that battlesphere introduction cutscene sliding away. And to not make it any longer I'll simplify my final reasoning, I think villain good but motive? I mean kinda fair but Idk. Neera Li as fourth character cool, but she's most skill required to use to me. And the collectable pieces of game's OST and whatever is kinda neat. Also 100%ing the game is probably such a challenge but that would be fun video idea for someone here. That's about it I guess I don't really know what to put here, $25 well spent
This sequel makes so many improvements over the first game. The art is better, the music is much better, even if it's horribly compressed for some reason, and the level design is overall much better. They finally figured out how to make levels with multiple paths without it being confusing on where to go, for the most part at least. There are still a lot of cheap enemy placements and one-hit kills that you don't get enough time to react to, which is especially frustrating when you only have a limited amount of lives. The biggest reason I wouldn't recommend it though is the amount of technical issues I had trying to play it. The first issue I encountered was the extremely long load times for levels. The game starts up in a reasonable time and loads the map just fine, but every single level took consistently over a minute to load for some reason. Even levels that were just a 10 seconds cutscene took so long to load. Even when it loaded, it took like half a minute for the music to start playing. Minor annoyances, but nothing that major. The reason I only have 2 hours in the game right now is that I wasn't able to get past the third stage. I tried multiple times, but every single time the game either crashed, or I got soft-locked because the game wouldn't progress properly after beating the second mid-level boss. The first and second stage worked fine, so I don't know what's up with the third stage, but since I can't finish it, I can't know what the rest of the game is like. Seeing that the game hasn't been updated since 2024, I wouldn't be hopeful for it to ever be fixed, and thus, I can't recommend it. I might change my mind if they ever decide to make the game playable. Very disappointing to see, I was really looking forward to this game :/
probably my most favorite one out of the franchise, and that's saying something considering the fact that's there is only two games. the combat is great; I like how each character follows their own story especially carol, and the cutsenses and individual dialogue are probably my favorite part of the day, hell before I bought this game all I would do was watch the cutsenses on YouTube. Overall, very good game, 10 out of 10, the only real probably I had with it was the price because, Yesh, I mean, it's pretty tame from prices now a days, but my point still stands (P.S. plus hot take, I don't really like Millas moveset, I'm sorry)

THIS IS GENUIENLY SUCH A FUN GAME BRO I'VE NEVER HAD THIS MUCH FUN ON A SINGLEPLAYER GAME IN FOREVEEEEEEEEER
A lot to cover today but for the brief review I will state Freedom planet 2 is a 7 year in the making (according to the special gallery lol) dream come true for people who enjoy Sonic style games, it's a vast improvement over the first game and on top of that it's a direction I feel all games of this nature could learn from coming from the death pit party that is the 2D Sonic games dood. Full Review time! So Freedom planet 2 carries on the story years later after the events of the evil lord Brevon, strange robot attacks have been on the rise and something out there is surely the cause and Lilac being little miss heropants is back to save the day with her friends Carol, Milla and Neera!? That's right four characters this time to choose from and boy are they all improved dood! The game plays like you'd expect, move left and right, jump, all that good stuff but the maps are large and the pacing is up to you unless you're going for par times, no rush and in fact it benefits players to take a more adventurous look around with treasure and crystals around to find, all with uses you'll likely want but we'll get to that in a bit, for now I can say the stages all look stellar with some unique gimmicks and puzzles at times that make for a real fun time dood! Okay let's get into the characters, as I mentioned there's the usual stuff but some new too, we'll cover it again though for anyone skipping the first game, X/A to jump, Square/X to attack, circle/B to use the characters special and now for something new! Y/Triangle for Block/dodge! Press it for some good old iframes to avoid an attack, it's a handy little thing that if you pace yourself rather than rush a fight can save you some damage and things hit HARD in this so it's best to master it, that said there's a function I will cover later on that will have you not need to master it if you so wish but I'll cover that later dood. Let's get onto specific characters, Lilac plays nearly the same but with some nice improvements, she has her cyclone double jump like before but now it doesn't cost special meter (Nice!) she has an uppercut and a dive kick based on what you press with the attack button and finally she has her dash and I was going to say it was a shame it was the same but it turns out there's a little secret function where pressing the button again stops the dash and leaves a damaging aura where it stops, this makes it still awkward but a much more useful combat technique than it used to be which is a great addition dood! (assuming I didn't miss that in the first game lol) Now for my gal Carol! The Cat that put's the pun in punchies! She's had the biggest changes and all good in my eyes, she has her basic attacks but now she also has her own type of uppercut, an air kick too and pressing attack during her pounce gives a stronger golden claw slash! She can still climb walls too and her special is now a jump disc, this thing is stellar! Not only does it allow Carol some great movement options it also doubles as a weapon that auto hits opponents if it hits and let's Carol teleport to the opponent with some slight iframes at that to go with some extra damage on landing if it's on an enemy! Think that's it? Wrong! Her motorbike is back and now once you get it the thing stays through the stage! No explodey! It also has two unique attacks too based on directional input, making our green missy a force of speedy nature! And on top of that you can put it away and take it back out again! They went all out on the little missy dood! <3 Milla next! She has more health this time around (thank goodness) she plays a lot better too, getting a cube charge is now just instant on dodge press, the super laser can push you in any direction and in fact if you practice can speed you up, (great work devs giving that a visual hint during a few cutscenes) her puppy float is pretty much the same lol, if she's standing totally still she takes a martial arts stance and does some neat combos, if she's running she does an interesting dash attack, her shield still exists and although it doesn't say you can make the chunky cube version still too but more importantly with a cube up you can start shooting projectiles out by pressing attack!? I will say it's a bit of an awkward set of buttons to press to use it but it's a cool addition regardless dood! And Finally the new gal on the ice block, Neera! She's an interesting one, she's versatile in everything but getting decent height meaning you'll mostly be on the ground level but otherwise she's crazy versatile, she has a basic double jump, her normal attack is a spear stab but also if you hold it she shoots ice out too giving her a range option, hold attack while running and you do a stab that also speeds you up on flats or downward terrain, in the air do the same for a cool aerial dash stab that also speeds you up a bit! She has an upward attack and a downward stab, on top of that she has her frost arts! Her specials are an ice shot that freezes and damages small enemies, an aerial tornado that goes quite high for those pesky air enemies and ice pillars that will punish any fast ground enemies running towards you if timed right (ice melts after all!) and finally we have her focus mode! Now to preface this Neera's normal attacks recharge your special bar faster, why's that important? Because when you dodge you go into focus mode, this makes attacks not stagger her but her meter drains constantly, so keep the hits coming to stay in that state! Using frost arts will stop it though as it takes all your meter dood. Phew that was a lot to cover! So let's go onto something a little different, there are accessibility options! These allow things such as free revives, (yes revives cost in game muns in some cases) no knockback and auto dodge! Don't fancy having one more button to think about? Don't worry just put this on and as long as you aren't attacking it does it for you! Real handy for my sis who's playing like she did in the first game, I do miss health regen for her though dood. >< Okay onto more in game mechanics! So now we have items and potions! These are both great additions to making the game a more interesting and easier experience, items come in two types, helpful! and restrictive! Why? One's to make the game more fun/easier to play but the cost is % for your rank, which also effects the bonus shards you get at the end, (potions also lower your % but only by 5%) the other of course increases your % which in turn gives you a lot more cash flow and can get you up to rainbow S rank! Rainbow S rank is just to show off though, normal S is for achievements if you want them, then we have potions, these have their own unique effects and can be mix and matched, I feel mixing isn't the best idea sadly because none of the effects are high enough to be of any real benefit unless you use all 5, except maybe the shield one but even that kind of nerfs whatever you choose as your secondary and one effect is too good to pass up frankly dood. The music is stellar in this too and all the new character designs are great, especially the NPC ones funny enough, I adore the blue and pink hedgehogs myself X3 the game is just so full of lore and I kinda have to kick myself that I didn't realise how the three kingdoms are alternate reality takes on the Wei, Wu and Shu kingdoms XD especially with the boat theme for the one kingdoms ships, the story really upped the ante and the world feels so much more alive that I think the devs/writers should be proud and the voice acting is great with some surprising but welcome cast in some cases dood! I had 1300 more characters to write but ran out lol (nothing important lol) thanks for reading and hope you enjoy too dood! ^-^7
el juego esta centrado en la velocidad pero tambien en la acción y el combate, a veces se puede hacer dificil pero es muy adictivo tanto este como el primero son obras maestras 10/10 y GOTY
