You know... maybe earthlings aren't supposed to go outside of Earth... it's not a very friendly void out there.

Tharsis is easy to pick up and play. Its dice rolling gameplay has a simple premise and yet it is a tough game to conquer. It is fairly addictive, in part because it is challenging and one bad bit of luck or a little misplay leaves you scrambling and wanting to have another go. This game has received plenty of criticism for its difficulty but I don't think this is fair. The randomness is part of the point and a key part of the charm. I like that it is not easy and that ultimately you have to be both lucky and strategic in order to win. You are supposed to feel like you're battling against the odds. Its full price is on the higher end although it does have enough variation in character specialities to make replaying feel worthwhile. The 'story' aspect feels a little half baked. It sets the scene but lacks payoff in my opinion. Overall, Tharsis is a fun little luck-orientated survival strategy game. I would recommend it, although probably best to wait for a discount as it is a game you will likely play for 10 hours and not 100.

Absolutely fun and challenging game. The boardgame feel of this game geeks me out. This is a game I would love to have as a boardgame. It forces you to make hard choices and sometimes the dice are NOT in your favor. I also have to thank the devs for introducing me to Weval, the group behind the background music. If you like tense games with hard choices, you'll love this.

If you have problems with the game not starting after the intro and crashing. Right click on the Tharsis file name in Steam and join the beta by using the password, tharsisforever . This will make the game run just like it did when it was new. Im on Windows 11 and I had to do this. Game was good and fun when it was new and I still enjoy coming back to it. Would love to see a sequel. Good job Devs.

Tharsis is a dice-based strategy game about managing the crew of the Iktomi long enough for them to reach Mars. Tharsis requires proper critical thinking, as if you don't manage the events along with crew health and sanity, you are going to find that you are going to start losing people quick; however, this is where the fun of the game is. The decisions you make have to be well thought out and planned for you to be able to survive 10 weeks (10 turns) to reach Mars. This is so you can see the conclusion to an intriguing story that is never expressly told to you what is absolutely happening. I absolutely love Tharsis and highly recommend that you give it a try.

Requires you to change launch options to get it to work, otherwise it crashes when you hit start. Fun game, however the tutorial is trash, it'll zap too much time to get the hang of the rng. There's better games out there such as FTL.

This game is interesting but not worth the price it might have replay but it has no depth and is too short.

Gets a negative review until they fix not being able to get past the start screen without crashing. I run Win 11. If I can ever play the game, I'll update my rating. Issue has been known since launch and still has not been fixed. Unacceptable.

This game wasn't even worth 7.49 on sale. @ 2.7 hours of gameplay i beat the game twice and there is no point in continuing no real new content to come.

Fun game and it is just brutal. Random events can ruin a well thought out plan and kill ya randomly 60% of the way through a game haha. But it is fun in short bursts. Might wanna keep em short though so you don't punch your monitor.
