About
FOUNDRY is a first-person (first-robot?) factory builder with complete creative freedom set in a procedurally generated and infinite voxel world.
Land on an unexplored planet and design a giant automated robot production facility under the watchful direction of your AI friend, Carl. Navigate the complexities of interstellar trade and sell your products through interplanetary trade networks to reach your final goal: galactic industrial domination.

Progress from manual resource extraction to a fully automated and perfectly optimized factory.
Construct towering machinery and snaking networks of conveyor belts and pipes with no limits on where you build.
Explore a vibrant voxel world and sculpt the landscape block by block.
Research new, more advanced technologies to meet the demands of your ever-growing production lines.
Personalize your creation by unlocking decorative items and new color options.
Maintain a complex power system to keep your factory running at top speed.
Work solo or recruit outside contractors in online or LAN co-op multiplayer.
Create an enormous factory complex stretching from deep underground to the planet’s surface and the skies above.

Create a mechanically magnificent factory and a work of industrial art integrating your creation into the environment around you. Set up your machines far below the surface, high in the sky and everywhere in between. Grid-based construction gives you precise control over where and what you build.
Land on an unexplored planet and explore a procedurally generated sandbox. Journey through dense jungles, gigantic mountain ranges, and great plains stretching into the horizon, with even more to discover beneath the surface.

Design intricate systems of conveyor belts, long-distance transport networks, pipes and elevators from deep underground to automate your research. Unlock more advanced, complex and faster technology to optimize your factory and maximize production.
You’ll start by crafting items and harvesting resources manually but will soon find yourself setting up assembly lines piece by piece to devise a system that flows perfectly. Combine form, fit and function to create a smooth setup that effortlessly transforms raw materials into galaxy-grade robot products without you lifting a metallic finger.

Bottlenecks are your enemies. Remember to maintain a delicate balance between inputs and outputs so that productivity reaches its maximum potential, enabling you to progress through an extensive research tree.
Ensure that manufacturing runs at full speed. Keep your power supply well-fed and, as your factory expands, unlock upgraded machinery, advanced power generators and new customization options that will add efficiency and a splash of color to your production lines.
Work solo or collaborate in co-op and engineer creative solutions to complex logistical challenges in a vast voxel world.

I've played FOUNDRY since it first dropped its demo. It had a bit of charm to it, so I was pretty excited when I later showed it to a friend and we decided to pick up the full version and take a stab at it together. We had a fair bit of fun, then departed from the game for a while. Fast forwarding to Update 4 and the train system it brought to the game, we decided to have another go at things and see how the game has improved.... and boy has it! The Construction Drone's addition has made the building process far less constrained and freeing. You're able to utilize it like in many other games of the genre, building more freely and not stuck trying to navigate your character into tight or high areas just to make sure you're connecting your belt cleanly. The Excavation Drone Controller has turned the very painful task of burrowing through terrain into something quick and easy. As you get additional Xeno-upgrades the experience improves further and further, making it to where I no longer feel like I need to abuse the "gimmick" of elevators to excavate for me in order to dig a hole. Then there's the real meat and potatoes of improvement, Trains. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, these are done well. Across every factory game (and otherwise) that has added trains to their logistical systems, I have never found it as seamless and easy to use as FOUNDRY has done. It's a fantastic system that plays in well with the game but doesn't feel like you need a master's degree just to figure out how to set it up. I am so beyond impressed with how well Channel 3 Entertainment have approached this system and I am absolutely excited to see what they bring to the game next. Splendid job on the game so far, I can not wait to see how we're looking by the time Early Access ends.
puhh
Automation game in Minecraft look and feel. After Satisfactory I can't take it seriously, sorry. But it's me, not a game's problem. Wish there was a 50/50 vote.
I tried this during the free period, I never would've bought this game because I refuse to support replacing people with AI.
Przyjemne wprowadzenie i przyjemne prowadzenie I'm bot botów bot-god.
FOUNDRY seemingly tries to answer the question »what if Satisfactory was more like Factorio?« And if the former didn't quite hook you, this game might be for you. Time will tell if it is for me. Because in its current state, I don't believe it is. Pro: Game looks great. I like the beveled-voxel-look, as well as the overall aesthetic the devs are going for. They seem to "get" factory-builders, and the machines behave as I expect. Where they emulate Factorio, they do it well. And the Cosmic economy might interact well with this. All the igredients are there, for a game I'd sink evenings into. Con: The open-world nature of the game feels at odds with the lack of an antagonistic force. There are no biters, no hostile wildlife, no hazardous environment. No sense of urgency or gravity. Not even Tom Nook. I'm more playing in a sandbox, less an open world. If it's meant to be a plain number-maximiser, the advertising does not reflect it. The writing is … not really there yet? Grammatical errors, lackluster voice-acting... The light-hearted banter of Carl and "not-BB-8" really clashes with me paving over acres of rainforest. The player-character's motivations? Unclear! The giant debt feels like a goal that was just tacked on at the end of a fruitless meeting. »I'll start paying it off, I guess.« is actually what I said to myself while playing. The attempted realism of attaching touchscreens to a fixed side of every machine, which are the primary means of interacting with them, is presented as a conscious choice. I consider it misguided and tedious. Also the game includes a very handholdey quest system with repetetive dialogue, but no rewards. I think it's meant as a tutorial of sorts, and got kinda out of hand? Maybe this is just how far they got for the free weekend. The player avatar looks bland and ugly to my eyes. Some customization in that department would go a long way. Closing thoughts: I hope the devs have a clear vision of what they want this game to be. And that they accomplish it. In its current state, it is quite muddy. The game is in early access, so I believe there is a good chance it'll eventually turn into something I like. Or maybe modded Foundry will. Beep boop. Too much time spent in menus. tl;dr: Price feels steep for what it is. Especially in an open Beta. Check back in six months.
