Reviews
This game appeared in my discovery queue and piqued my interest. After seeing it only had a few reviews and seeing they were mostly positive, I decided to give it a try and decide if I want to refund it later. Needless to say, I enjoyed this much more than expected and felt the need to add a review to help provide some traction for this game to grow. I would definitely recommend at least giving this game a try if you enjoy tower defense. (Some advice, don't focus too much on building walls, towers are the priority, and natural barriers (water/mountains) can serve the same function)
Was not expecting to get addicted to this game. Its a not overly complicated city builder/tower defense, with a lot more depth than I expected.
This game has legs - it is brilliant in what it does with minor gameplay quirks that can obstruct you from playing perfectly. I love TDs and this is an easy 9/10. The gameplay is inviting, intriguing and keeps you invested. Great art style. Personally I would like in the inclusion of a sandbox mode with rogue-like elements - something to give direction and difference to the way you play beyond adapting to the landscape. Also could really do with a settings menu in the main menu not just in game, and adjusting resolution would be ideal as I would like to play windowed in a smaller res but the aspect ratio for the window is locked to your monitors even if the actual res isn't. Small issues. Game runs perfectly smoothly for me on a 5120x1440 res.
As someone who isn't a tower defense junky but dabbles in RTS and other strategy games I think the game is quite good. Once you get your head around the scenario its more about finesse which I find quite nice. Not sure what endless mode is going to entail but if I could add anything for what's out now and I don't think I've seen all the building options yet, Id add shareable custom scenarios players can customize and challenge each other too using a key.
Good game
this game is a diamond in the rubble, i found it by chance in the discovery que and noiw i have played it and i can say it is a good game that wont hold your hand immediately and you do have toi use a few braincelss like dont spam one economic building, dont spam towers, instead make sure to change the towers weapons, use fire on leaffy enemies this took me way to long to figure out lol. TLDR: very gud game, very under the radar, needs anime fox girls.
I really like this game, but I feel it is very linear, and shallow overall. The loop is basically the same at 30 minutes in as it would be at 3 hours in. The maps are gorgeous, the organic road forming, and housing placements by citizens are exceptionally cool. But the demon visuals are hard to distinguish at times in the background of everything. One of the biggest flaws to me is having the attacks always in the winter, which negates the use of water barriers as part of your defense, and that really depresses my feeling about the game significantly. Another downer for me is wall placement is pretty janky, it's square forms only, no angles or curves. It's still a fun game, but I don't think it's the current price point fun. I'd probably have kept it as a novelty if it was closer to half of the price it is now. I will keep an eye on it. If they remove the forced attacks during winter to make water barriers viable (or a different non-freezing biome perhaps), and the price drops. I'll pick it up again.
Tower defense This is a more, free form tower defense game which is both good and bad. Good because you have the freedom to plop things wherever you want and in strategic ways. Bad because all the maps feel and play extremely similiar aside from the 'inasion' missons which there are only a few. The difficulty level is pretty spot on and each level towards the end feels like its building up to something really nasty. Endless mode is coming 'soon' so maybe that'll be fun? It would be nice to build a proper base with walls and the like which isn't really doable in the campagin.. Overal I quite liked the game it is a bit diifferent from most tower defense games and has a very cute art style. Highly recommended. :D
