I got this as a gift years and years ago, and while I was running a Steam Roulette (just to say I've played everything in my library at least once), I looked at this game and wondered, "huh, why did I only play this for 15 minutes 10 years ago?" And then it hit me. Between the text being completely illegible, awful sound design, constantly flickering shadows, bland art style, AI with room temperature IQ, and some of the most vapid gunplay I've ever experienced, this game's just ♥♥♥♥. It's not worth $3.99. In fact, you ought to be getting paid to play this.
Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood is a game that tries to be funny and action-packed, but fails miserably at both. The game is a cartoon-style third-person shooter where you play as a lone soldier fighting against an endless horde of rebels in a nameless village. The game has a small campaign with various objectives, such as defending civilians, escorting a tourist bus and killing chickens, but they are all boring and repetitive. The game also has a ranking system that allows you to unlock new outfits, accessories and weapons, but they are mostly cosmetic and do not affect the gameplay much. The game’s graphics are dated and ugly, with low-resolution textures, bland environments and stiff animations. The game’s sound effects are annoying and repetitive, with the same screams, gunshots and explosions over and over again. The game’s music is generic and forgettable, with no variation or mood. The game’s humor is juvenile and crude, with blood splattering everywhere, chickens exploding into feathers and civilians running around in panic. The game’s difficulty is either too easy or too hard, depending on the level. Some levels are a breeze to complete, while others are frustratingly hard due to unfair enemy spawns, poor cover options and lack of checkpoints. The game’s controls are clunky and unresponsive, with awkward aiming, slow movement and unreliable air-raid support. The game’s length is very short, with only six levels that can be completed in less than an hour. The game has no multiplayer mode or any replay value whatsoever. So uh, meh?
Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood est un jeu de tir à la troisième personne, de style cartoon. Vous incarnez le dernier de ces Légionnaires durs à cuire encore en vie et en mission pour protéger un village contre une armée entière de rebelle.
This was the greatest suprise of my gaming life, I loved it. I bought it cause of guns, disregarding faceless lego men. Its super low spec, and cell shaded simplified, so it runs great. You do have to deal with being part of France's empire, but its a lot of fun imperializing.
Simple Indie game that does not offer much. Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood is a simple Indie shooter that is mediocre at best. You take control of some last standing army dude and take on waves of mindless AI rebel soldiers and chickens, yes chickens. You got a few game modes like escort a tourist bus (in a war zone), wend off waves of enemies and murder all the chickens on the map. The game offers a ranking system in which you fill your buckets with the blood of your enemies to unlock new weapons, outfits, and accessories. In each mode, it is your goal to survive and fill as much buckets as possible. Depending how you kill your enemies, this process can go faster or slower. If you gib enemies for example, the meter goes up faster. The graphics are nothing special, it has flat cartoon style artwork and while that is fine, the terrible shaders, glitches and flickering makes the game hard to look at most of the times. Sound wise, Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood is a joke. The weapon fire, enemies and surroundings al sound very blend and lifeless. The fight tracks offer some fun while playing but get old fast. The controls are fine, but the gun play is terrible. There is no rule for hitting your target and I felt that most hits were pure luck based. To top it off, the enemy AI is so incredibly stupid, it feels even more lifeless than it already is. I know that this is a simple Indie game, but even then, when enemies just run toward you, right in your line of fire, it tells me that they are programmed to perform one task and one task only. Another issue I had with the game is how terrible slow it is. You run like two miles per hour and when hunting the chickens in a map for example, it is painfully, awfully stiff and slow. Speaking of the chickens, that is the most fun I had with this game. You get a map full of those feathered bastards and just murder the living hell out of them. It was kind of satisfying in an odd way. Also, besides the fact that the AI has less brain cells then my dog, the game can still be challenging on higher difficulties, giving you some challenge overall. The main reason to play this game is the achievements. They add some purpose to the game and let you play the game for longer then 15 minutes. I know for sure that I would not have finished it if it did not have them. In conclusion, Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood does not have a reason to exist, yet it does, it is not the worst game ever or something, it is just blend, boring, repetitive and has nothing to offer then some quick achievements.
it was like 12 cents when i bought it, it is definitely one of the third person shooter games.
This is an abandoned tablet-esque third person shooter featuring cartoony graphics and a military theme. Shoot things in a series of levels with a small variety of objectives. The graphics are extremely flawed in the game and there's a UI bug that renders the UI a blurry unintelligible blob. Having said that, the UI is one of the best parts of the game, everything else is worse. Controls can't be remapped and for me they were unusable due to having a HOTAS plugged in, something most other games have no issue with. This is a completely unplayable mess, abandoned by the developers, but they want you to pay $7.50 for it.
very good game i
For a mere 150 MB game, this stands at par in everything. All you have to do is stand your ground for 10 minutes (which certainly you can change) and deal with the innumerable waves of enemies , with each next wave unfolding more enemies than before. A plot as simple as applying peanut butter over a sandwich with not-so difficult campaigns and not-so tough enemies. The environment-settings and character-details give more like lego appearance . But all-in-all, it provided a benign shooter experience for someone who wants to set their hands first into crosshair-shooting and becoming more dexterous and adept in taking a bullseye at enemies before jumping into more intricate and competitive shooting games. Its like a training classroom for turning into a proficient shooter for more advanced and multiplayer games. But if you are not looking for improving your shooting and just have some fun, this game atleast gonna stands to your expectations if not exceed beyond your expectations. Go grab it before the chickens flee away. I hope they didn't harm any chickens into making of this Ketchupy-blood game. Although, I did harm some while having a bucket of KFC alongside playing the game. I deeply apologize to all the players out there for feeding onto flesh of poor chickens solely to indulge my senses into getting the taste of that delectable outer crispy layer.
