For the Greater Good

Epic game, so much fun to blast through enemies with different characters as you progress through acts. Boss encounters are quite original. Each level encourages you to strategize and improve your approach, and can be quite punishing. You can't just tank everything, and your hand won't be held. 10/10 Soundtrack as well. GOTY 2025

A crunchily satisfying and at times cerebral top-down actioner with some darkly alluring worldbuilding. The encounters are similarly structured to Hotline Miami; puzzle-like and stealthy, wherein you have to carefully plan your approach through rooms due to powerful enemies and quick time-to-kill. You'll need to restart a stage several times before you find a route that clicks, but it's rewarding once you do, and hardly ever feels repetitive or unfair thanks to consistent enemy cones of vision and attack patterns. In fact, it can be addictive trying to refine a runthrough. Really impressed with the amount of playable characters and how unique each one feels. Dominic (the starting character) is a bit basic, but there are some far more inventive ones later on that make playful use of movement and environment. Boss fights are a little tricky due to random attack patterns, but there's a brilliantly designed one later on that is honestly one of the best I've ever seen with how the arena is designed and how versatile the player can be with their approach. The whole concept of blood magic and secret magical societies makes for a really compelling setting with well thought-out rules. Character motivations can be a bit vague at times and the dialogue occasionally stilted, but there's some good character development and thought-provoking ideas explored about morality, fate, prejudice, etc. Took me about 6 hours to run through, but I enjoyed almost all of it and many stages felt very replayable. If you like the idea of Hotline Miami with an urban fantasy twist and some innovative gameplay mechanics, this'll be right up your diseased, crime-ridden alley.

Another decent indie game that didnt brake the steam visibility treshhold. Deserves at least 10 more reviews. Its a bit hard on your hand due to gameplay that relies on holding mouse button, and after level rating messages are a bit harsh, but theres an interesting story and its satisfying to pull off some levels.

A really fun small title in the style of Hotline Miami and Mr. Shifty. We've got several characters, each with a different playstyle, nice graphics, cool music... very uneven story that is a little bit cringy here and there, but overall this is a good time. I recommend it to anyone who feels like he needs more HM vibes in his life... after all it's for the greater good and playing HM feels good. Cheers.
